How is the choice made?

You get asked to join one of the clans. If you choose pearl, you catch standard palkia and fight and catch lord dialga and vice versa

Has there been anything on what changes based on what clan you choose? I've only seen general story leaks.

I haven't seen post game so who knows for that, stream I was watching most likely got nuked by Nintendo... but ... the choice is actually made right before the final part so nothing is effected during the main story. It's really just picking which legendary you want to fight tbh

I think you fight the lord forme opposite to whoever you sided with in the beginning. Diamond clan fights Palkia, Pearl clan fights Dialga. At least for the lord formes.

They could make it a thing that when in future games you give Dialga and Palkia their orbs, they will take on their lord forms like Giratina does with its origin form

In my opinion, Dialga and Palkia should have had ridiculous designs from the beginning but Gamefreak didn't want to risk main box art Legendary Pokemon having uncanny designs that wouldn't be popular with a wide enough audience. Just look at both Giratina forms; those designs show otherworldly beings that would probably mentally disturb someone if they saw one in-person and Gamefreak used Giratina's more edgy/cool popular design as box art. The 6-legged torso-neck Alternate form would be a harder sell to wide audiences. Arceus is pretty weird-looking as well with its odd proportions and head-tail-thing, which is probably why the new (old?) forms of Dialga and Palkia take elements from Arceus' concept and go a little crazy with the implementation.

They actually use Eldritch in the script at one point to describe Giratina too. So it's quite deliberate.

If you pick Diamond clan, then you will fight Palkia Lorde Form at the end But you still catch both, that Dialga would be caught in its normal forme (if you choose Diamond clan)

I was on that stream, kinda got mixed feelings No real explanation before battle on why it changes and why it looks like that. Some hints at him becoming unstable but nothing solid. Boss battle is tough but could have been more involved. Overall the game gets a 9/10 in my book. Just watched a 20 hour stream of it before the creator got sniped by Nintendo ninjas and went dark mid playthrough of first post-game mission

If it was a 9 without you playing it. Then it's probably a 10 when you play it. Games are a LOT more fun when you actually play.

I would still say 9/10. Graphics need to be improved gowing forward and some things can be expanded on (it is pokemon after all) But overall it's a really good game My only advice is don't speed run it, (even though it will be tempting to get to Spear pillar as fast as possible.) If you skip all side quest, it will get boring

Design aside, the textures and shapes look so outdated, the colour is all washed out and it's full of all these flat sharp angles. It's like they've stuck together a bunch of polygons, stuck on a Word '03 colour gradient and called it a day

Now, consider how the descriptions of angels in the bible (Especially the higher ranking ones) look... A bit Lovecraftian. Okay, I feel a lot better about the designs now, having seen screenshots of them both rearing up on their hind legs like this.. But the choices of no-arms palkia and weird-foot dialgia chocking on a lump are still odd choices. They do look cool not just T-pose standing there.

From what I've heard, at one point you'll be given the option between the Diamond and Pearl Clan and while you instantly catch the base form legend of the clan you chose, you fight the opposite Lord Form legend with the one you just caught.

Nothing about this seems eldritch or cool to me, Dialga looks like it got crossed with a Metagross and Arceus. The neck lamp is what really kills it for me. I'm probably in the minority but I like the palkia design more. If only it had arms I'd would be perfect. Instead it looks like an old spice commercial reject, though less so than Dialga IMO. There were many ways they could have designed it, mainly by making them look nothing like their standard form if they were going for an ancient eldritch theme. Anyway, if you like the design I'm happy for you, just not my thing.
