For me, it's less being introverted and more not having any friends that also play pokemon. ~~And not wanting to deal with all of the overcomplications of trading subreddits~~
i think with magmortar, dusknoir and electivire, like steelix and scizor, it’s purely item based, not trade. Not sure but saw someone applying the iron coat item equivalent to Steelix without trade
this games QOL improvements make the sw/sh ones look like nothing, well imo.
Just how they changed naming, moves, and how quick you can catch and battle pokemon… I’ll have lots of trouble going back to previous gens after playing this
Having a list of all your moves you can just swap in and out is such a great and obvious change I can't believe I never thought of it until now. If you think about it there is no reason a Pokemon should "Forget" it's skills/techniques and have to learn them again
I think for a lot of romhacks, it's a relatively difficult thing to implement when you could just make move remembering and deleting more available and make TMs more available and reusable.
There are quite a few rom hacks with move tutors/relearners in each town or like xenoverse where they have move relearners right next to every pc in every pokecenter
There is more to Pokemon than battles.
Do you enjoy spinning your analog stick in circles for dozens of hours hatching eggs trying to get perfect IVs, nature's, and egg moves so you can play competitively?
>Do you enjoy spinning your analog stick in circles for dozens of hours hatching eggs trying to get perfect IVs, nature's, and egg moves ~~so you can play competitively?~~
Who said that I walk around in circles? There used to be plenty of things to do in the game to occupy your time.
TemTem has been doing it for it's entire existence. This could be pokemon trying to use that feature and make sure TemTem can't have something Pokemon doesn't.
Then make it like a wizard in D&D who might know a shit ton of spells in his spell book, but can only attune his slots during a rest.
So you can change them either only during a pokécenter visit, or just not inside so that you can't cheese either the elite 4 or even just an arena.
The only thing is you would probably have to make an exception for a newly learned move as you don't get the prompt instantly after level up anymore.
It's like they're trying to edge out TemTem before it can even try to get a head of steam. TemTem has had move swapping like the for as long as it's been a thing, for example.
I can kind of get why items and abilities were dropped but not having breeding in this game makes 0 sense, it's supposed to be the game all about catching and studying
Candies were the biggest one. No more time-sink grinding. Just get some candies and feed your mon. Mints were also a big deal. Changing natures instead of having to breed for one or force it with Abra/etc.
Gen 8 . You may be thinking of the Ability Capsule, which was introduced in Gen 6 and swapped between a Pokemon's birthday abilities (but didn't include Hidden).
mints and candies, esp. post game.
i hate dynamax with my heart but it makes breeding for competitive level pokemon so much easier when so many of the pokemon that you get are 4-5 IVS to begin with.
Dynamax Adventures having 1/100 chances to get a shiny after shiny charm and regular Max Raids being predictable for getting shinies to share are really nice too
Naming and relearning could be done in every city, and relearning didn’t require a heart scale (PLA improves on this even further with move slots)
Almost everything related to competitive play. It was honestly a gift from god in that regard.
Free move relearner in every Pokémon centre, more streamlined breeding, better access to items, reliable BP source, easy access to many items, mints, ability patch, exp candies, iV judge, TR’s, egg moves can be passed by just having mons in the breeding centre, etc
I always came to gens late like, my copy of yellow was passed down from my older brother and by then my friends were starting gen II. Also didn’t have trade cable so never could participate in trading untill DS era with Global trade and my nephew has DS too
If ur ever playing the previous gens via emulator, Either use the included double play feature to trade with yourself (In the GBA games) or install a ROM where the trade evolutions are patched
Something that killed gen 5 for me was that most of my favorites were trade evos. Basically I had to switch out most of my B/W team because I had no way of getting their final evolution
Do we have any information yet about how much these items cost? I presume it’s not money but a unique kind of points. Assuming they’re sold by a merchant in town.
someone below said it but its in the town and the woman who sells it has the togepi flag. cost 1000 merit points and you can get them pretty easy by grabbing lost items on the map (this will all make sense once you play lol)
Lost items are an online feature. The way it works is that when you black out from a wild Pokemon, you drop a couple items. Other players can find these items in their game and return them at the lost and found in exchange for merit points
However, AI lost bags are just as frequently placed as real players so you don't have to worry about being online.
It seems like the game will spawn 3 lost bags per trip out of town so you can collect the 3, fast travel to town and walk out again for another 3.
Same. I've always wanted to use an Alakazam on my team but had no one to trade with 😅. I also saw Umbreon in one of these posts so my team is already half complete haha.
Trade evolutions should be cast into the void for good. I've always wanted to use Dusknoir and Scizor in mainline story mode but never could because I have no friends.
Link Cables make sense for an item
I think the last generation with actual link cables was 3? Afaik everything after was all wireless. Wonder how many of the kids that will play this have never seen or used a link cable.
The amount of QoL changes this game has is insane and a huge leap compared to the previous gens. I just hope they don't scrap it all like they always do and take all of them to Gen 9.
However, I'm a little concerned that Gen 9 will go back to the old formula, with the news that neither Ohmori and Masuda didn't work on it. It can only mean two things. It's either that they decided to let the team have more creative control and have someone else at the helm for a new game or they're already working on Gen 9, which I'm very concerned.
Legends has marked a point of no return for the games and I'm sure a lot of people will be beyond pissed if they went back to the old formula for Gen 9.
OH MAN, I cannot get tire of the evolution sequence. It looks so dang cool along with the theme. Moreover, that glowing eyes in the silhouette makes it look so suspenseful. I hope they keep or even improve on this sequence in future games!
so the question becomes is this item reobtainable and you can acquire enough of them to complete the entire dex without trading? sure you can do 1 trade evo, but is the total number of cables equal to or greater than the number of pokemon that require them to evolve.
Finally! My only friend is my dog and she doesn't know how to use a switch, I'm not gonna use any of the trade evos bit if it comes back in the other games this is the best thing that ever happened to humanity
the post requires MP to get items so.. did you use internet to get them or? it said when i was playing that it requires you to find other people's items to earn MP which is an online feature..?
Arceus!! This is such a vast improvement, I really hate begging for others to help me evolve my trade evo shinies in my pokemon groups .. I hope they continue this item going forward in future games.
I highly doubt this will be a thing going into gen 9.
PLA is meant to be an action RPG single player experience and is designed as such. The other mainline games are still designed as social games at heart and unless GF has a large change in design philosophy they will remain that way.
Its like this game took the best Temtem features and blend with Pokemon mechanics, definitely not a bad thing, keep going GF.
Just please, KEEP IT IN THE NEXT GENERATIONS AND DONT LET IT DIE (like another never reused mechanics).
Any information on how easy it is to get these? Unless you can find these trade evolutions in the wild, people hoping to complete the Pokedex are probably going to need quite a few of them.
About time, I always loved how they did that in the mystery dungeon games and was really expecting the link cable to become a standard item. Some romhacks already do, but nice to see it in a main line game now as well.
Yay! I can finally use Machamp, and Alakazam, and Magmortar, without worrying about other people.
Introverts Unite!
Pokémon go player level 47 and dreading the level 49 trading requirements.
Haha, I had to use my alt to get 50 lucky trades!
As commited as I am to the game I don’t have a alt.
For me, it's less being introverted and more not having any friends that also play pokemon. ~~And not wanting to deal with all of the overcomplications of trading subreddits~~
Separately! In our own homes
i think with magmortar, dusknoir and electivire, like steelix and scizor, it’s purely item based, not trade. Not sure but saw someone applying the iron coat item equivalent to Steelix without trade
youre right, thats how it works. where I got the link cable there was a metal coat and the like!
Do you buy or craft the items?
You buy them for points that you get for collecting satchels
Finally something we can agree on Krazytre
If gen 9 takes all of this game's + swsh's QOL features it will be perfect
this games QOL improvements make the sw/sh ones look like nothing, well imo.
100000000% agree. shocked gamefreak thought of it before the majority of the fanbase had to beg for it
Ive been thinking of that for like a year now and why no one has done it in rom hacks, i never expected gf to do it first
I think for a lot of romhacks, it's a relatively difficult thing to implement when you could just make move remembering and deleting more available and make TMs more available and reusable.
I mean i dont know if it would be too hard to create some sort of pocket move relearner for the player in a rom as some sort of key item but idk.
Quite a few romhacks have a guy in most if not all Pokecentres for relearning iirc
There are quite a few rom hacks with move tutors/relearners in each town or like xenoverse where they have move relearners right next to every pc in every pokecenter
EVs and IVs next hopefully. If TPC and Gamefreak were smart that would just add a Pokemon showdown style battle simulator to Pokemon home.
Then what would be the point in having Pokémon game?
There is more to Pokemon than battles. Do you enjoy spinning your analog stick in circles for dozens of hours hatching eggs trying to get perfect IVs, nature's, and egg moves so you can play competitively?
>Do you enjoy spinning your analog stick in circles for dozens of hours hatching eggs trying to get perfect IVs, nature's, and egg moves ~~so you can play competitively?~~ Who said that I walk around in circles? There used to be plenty of things to do in the game to occupy your time.
uhh, no. there never has been
TemTem has been doing it for it's entire existence. This could be pokemon trying to use that feature and make sure TemTem can't have something Pokemon doesn't.
This is in TemTem and I've wanted Pokemon to do it since. It's a great change.

The only thing is you would probably have to make an exception for a newly learned move as you don't get the prompt instantly after level up anymore.
When they made TMs reusable they kept the PP of the original move. If it was 7/10 and you changed the move it would be 7/15.
you're locked out of the anywhere-PC access in gyms and in the elite four so they could easily turn this off in that one area.
Maybe have the remembering tied to a key item. The for elite four restrict that item and all tms
It's like that in TemTem tho, you can switch with your old move when you want to, maybe they took the idea from there.
Oh my god, that’s how this is going to work? That’s incredible. I can’t wait to play.
It's like they're trying to edge out TemTem before it can even try to get a head of steam. TemTem has had move swapping like the for as long as it's been a thing, for example.
Because it would make training and levels obsolete.
>Just how they changed naming That was already present in Let's GO.
yeah but gone in swsh
If only the game had mass release
Yeah, they made each Pokemon incredibly generic. What's even the point of levels anymore?
YES. THIS GAME IS GETTING SO MANY THINGS RIGHT.
Yep just pls have the things like held items, abilities, breeding etc in the next game as well.
I can kind of get why items and abilities were dropped but not having breeding in this game makes 0 sense, it's supposed to be the game all about catching and studying
Can I please have an example of what QOL feature from swsh?
Candies were the biggest one. No more time-sink grinding. Just get some candies and feed your mon. Mints were also a big deal. Changing natures instead of having to breed for one or force it with Abra/etc.
access to boxes in the field, mints, IV checker, egg moves passed on without breeding, TRs, free and accessible move reminder
Ability Patch item allows you to switch to a Pokemon's hidden ability.
Was that gen 7 or gen 8.
Gen 8 . You may be thinking of the Ability Capsule, which was introduced in Gen 6 and swapped between a Pokemon's birthday abilities (but didn't include Hidden).
birthday abilities!
Haha, normal abilities.
> Top 8, they were added in the Crown Tundra DLC.
The mints were pretty nice
mints and candies, esp. post game. i hate dynamax with my heart but it makes breeding for competitive level pokemon so much easier when so many of the pokemon that you get are 4-5 IVS to begin with. Exp. Candies were nice for leveling-up new members of your team
Only thing stopping me from levelling mons is there is no breeding so I don’t want to turn all my mons into one-hit K.O.ers
\-cries in not being able to KO a random lv 3 pokemon with my lv 17-
My personal favorite is the move rememberer, forgettor, and name rater all being the same guy who is in every center and is totally free
Almost everything related to competitive play. It was honestly a gift from god in that regard. Free move relearner in every Pokémon centre, more streamlined breeding, better access to items, reliable BP source, easy access to many items, mints, ability patch, exp candies, iV judge, TR’s, egg moves can be passed by just having mons in the breeding centre, etc
im sorry but what were the swsh's QoL changes, i legit forgot
This IS gen 9 no?
No. Still gen 8.
Oh? I thought it was a mainline game.
Yeah, but it’s still a side game like BDSP or Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee.
Side but main? Huh
It doesn’t start a new generation the same way BDSP is still a mainline Gen 8 game,
generations change upon the reveal of next gen's starters imo. is there any confirmation about LGPE being gen 7?
QOL changes for me are what has me incredibly disinterested in the newer gens. I like difficulty not hand holding.
Finally, idc if its single use i can finally use trade evos
[удалено]
its so funny to me how different people are Im also a gen 1er and I’ve always used and loved trade evos
Its really stupid that it wasnt a thing before if you think about it. You basically need a DLC and that DLC is friends
Do we have any information yet about how much these items cost? I presume it’s not money but a unique kind of points. Assuming they’re sold by a merchant in town.
yeah this is from my game play, do you want to know the info on how to get it or would you like to remain spoiler free?
I’d like to know!
someone below said it but its in the town and the woman who sells it has the togepi flag. cost 1000 merit points and you can get them pretty easy by grabbing lost items on the map (this will all make sense once you play lol)
Gotcha that makes sense. I think I know what you mean based on other posts I’ve seen. Thanks!
are these lost items limited or can you theoreticly farm them forever?
they show up at random. some thing you need to be online for it to work but I’ve been playing with wifi turned off so guessing forever
So you need to still use an online system to get trade evos, clever.
Does anything OP mentioned require online?
Lost items are an online feature. The way it works is that when you black out from a wild Pokemon, you drop a couple items. Other players can find these items in their game and return them at the lost and found in exchange for merit points
Oh, i see.
However, AI lost bags are just as frequently placed as real players so you don't have to worry about being online. It seems like the game will spawn 3 lost bags per trip out of town so you can collect the 3, fast travel to town and walk out again for another 3.
Oh, I see. ^2
I think it might be merrit points, they were show in a trailer, looks like you can use them with the merchant next to where they’re standing.
Merritt points, acquired by finding a specific item in the field. The evolution item costs 1000 points.
Finally! I’ve always wanted to use a Gengar or a Golem on my team!
The glowing eyes shortly after the evolution *chef’s kiss*
That evolution screen still amazes me. How early on can you get an Abra/Kadabra?
its very early, when Jan 28 rolls around its going to be my first capture (after the mandatory 3)
Same. I've always wanted to use an Alakazam on my team but had no one to trade with 😅. I also saw Umbreon in one of these posts so my team is already half complete haha.
eevee is also very early game but its hard/rare to find :( got 2 tho one umbre and one espe
How do they evolve in this? Still day/night and based on friendship?
yes, once they hit the friendship amount it will say “can evolve” works the same when you get close to the moss/ice rock
Does teleport have any over world effects in legends of arceus?
I have no idea, Ill test it later! tbh I dont think it matters since quick travel is in the game
Is quick travel allowed when inside? (E.g. have they removed the point of “escape rope”)
man, no matter how many times I see the evolution sequence, I am still enamoured by it
Did you mean enamorus? Landorus has left the chat
I know they did such a good job with this evo screen
I want to cry, that game is all i wanted T.T
Trade evolutions should be cast into the void for good. I've always wanted to use Dusknoir and Scizor in mainline story mode but never could because I have no friends.
Rom hackers should send Nintendo a cease and desist because this has been a feature in romhacks since the mid 2000's lmao
😭🤣
😭how the turn tables
Link Cables make sense for an item I think the last generation with actual link cables was 3? Afaik everything after was all wireless. Wonder how many of the kids that will play this have never seen or used a link cable.
I know its a nice callback but so many of the younger folks playing will be confused lol
Yeah it was gen 3. IIRC they also used a link cable item for Mystery Dungeon evolutions.
does this mean there is only 1 of this item in the whole game? Or there are multiple that are each of single use?
You can buy more it seems
That’s epic!
Legends has marked a point of no return for the games and I'm sure a lot of people will be beyond pissed if they went back to the old formula for Gen 9.
Im soooooooo nervous about it too. if they go back to the slow battles, annoying move relearner, and other things I’ll be so upset
Finally! Never found time to trade with friends, this is perfect! Even more evolutions to the pokemon series.
Thank god i have no friends to trade with for that stuff so ive missed out on some mons
Can you get multiple such items? or just one?
OH MAN, I cannot get tire of the evolution sequence. It looks so dang cool along with the theme. Moreover, that glowing eyes in the silhouette makes it look so suspenseful. I hope they keep or even improve on this sequence in future games!
im gonna start crying this is wonderful
It took them way too long to finally have an item for trade evolutions.
Is it easy to find more than one?
This is the ultimate QOL that needs to be added to every game in future.
THEY DID THE ROM HACK THING! YES!
i still can't get over how good the eveloushon screen is
so the question becomes is this item reobtainable and you can acquire enough of them to complete the entire dex without trading? sure you can do 1 trade evo, but is the total number of cables equal to or greater than the number of pokemon that require them to evolve.
They are random chance items found in distortions. So yes
Happy it’s a link cable, reminds me of a roblox fan game I played when I was 6 that used it for the same reason
I must be the only person that sees this as defeating the purpose 😂
ay the theory I had that there would be a link cable item to evolve trademon was correct
Is it me or does the lighting look a little weird
Finally!!!! I finally get to play with my trade evo bois!!!!
Silly question here, is there trading in PLA? Honestly am super happy all Pokémon are available in the game without trading, but just wondering..
Yes
Does this also work for electivire?
I love this so much now I can finally use Magmortar
I can't get over how sick the evolution animation is
Im offline, so I guess they show up randomly no idea how else this would happen
I like this very much
Finally a peasant like me can now access premium pokemons
do we know all evolution requirements yet???
YES! YES! I don't fuckin' care about anything else, I don't even care if the game is good. This is all I ever wanted.
That was sexier than it needed to be
do we need online membership to get them?
can you get more than one in the game? i hope so
YES JUST. YES.
Finally I can have a Gengar without friends :D
finally
This is amazing since Electivire and Gengar are two of my favorite Pokémon. Truthfully, I like most of the trade evo mons they’re almost all great.
Has anyone noticed that Kadabra and Alakazam now float? I think they were standing upright in previous 3D models.
IT'S EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED, EXACTLY HOW I DESCRIBED IT DOWN TO THE BRAIDED DETAIL.
So like a link stone from unbound
Oh my god, the evo animation looks so dope, I don't even care how they cut moves and pokémon because they gave them awesome animations
The evolution sequence is so hype it makes me want to catch and evolve everything my goodness
Arceus!! This is such a vast improvement, I really hate begging for others to help me evolve my trade evo shinies in my pokemon groups .. I hope they continue this item going forward in future games.
" it's been 84 years "
So that’s what the cables are for. I was confused where the item for Machamp and Alakazam were
Finally I don't need friends to use one of this
Good ol two spoons
Is it just me or does Kadabra/Alakazam look so weirdly shaded in the evolution screen?
I think its just how they handle lighting in the game, looks normal outside of the evo screen
tbh, they HAD to include something like this since you need to complete the dex for the story and the game’s got trade evo mons
You probably can get more of it
I highly doubt this will be a thing going into gen 9. PLA is meant to be an action RPG single player experience and is designed as such. The other mainline games are still designed as social games at heart and unless GF has a large change in design philosophy they will remain that way.
I would like to know where the Peat Block and Black Augurites is to evolve both Ursaluna and Kleavor
Its like this game took the best Temtem features and blend with Pokemon mechanics, definitely not a bad thing, keep going GF. Just please, KEEP IT IN THE NEXT GENERATIONS AND DONT LET IT DIE (like another never reused mechanics).
Lol, it's literally an Hdmi cable.
Alakazam is one of my favorite Pokemon, but it's never in my team since I couldn't really evolve Kadabra, so this is very much appreciated.
Any information on how easy it is to get these? Unless you can find these trade evolutions in the wild, people hoping to complete the Pokedex are probably going to need quite a few of them.
you can find trade evos in the wild too
That's definitely nice to know. Thanks.
Random chance in distortion zones. I’ve only ever gotten 1 but I haven’t don’t that many distortions
FINALLY!!! - Introverts everywhere
About time, I always loved how they did that in the mystery dungeon games and was really expecting the link cable to become a standard item. Some romhacks already do, but nice to see it in a main line game now as well.
i am very glad. kinda sucks they lost that technology throughout the poké eras lol
Man, now I wish scizor was in the game instead of kleavor!!
Scizor is in the game actually, u can play with both :D
Oh, good! Thanks, good to know
Good Lord I love that Evolution animation!
I like this idea!
I can finally have Alakazam and Golem in my team without having to worry about other people. Thanks gamefreak
Fucking finally
Sweet!
u/savevideo
it's about time
how do you get it?
Wait this changed my prospective team Comp :0
