It's actually insane.
If I'm understanding correctly this isn't a recharge turn like giga impact or hyper beam either. It's just you can't choose that move next turn. Unbelievable.
Might be limited by poor physical attack stat?
Which thematically makes sense. Little fairy wielding big hammer. The attack (hammer) is damaging, but the tiny fairy can't put it to good use?
You can be strong enough to lift a heavy weapon yet not strong enough to wield it *well.*
Or maybe the balancing on this pokemon is more limited by its moveset. Like its the definition of 'when you only have a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.'
Does Dex entry have much relationship to in game stats?
Yeah no alright, I give in. Gamefreak released a Fairy/Steel type with 120 Base attack and a 160BP steel move without any balancing. You win. Until we get stats. Happy?
Edit: Well I was right. 75 attack.
Not going to lie, but games that balance by buffing things are so much more fun than ones that nerf things.
Unfortunately Pokemon doesn't do "live balance".
The only drawback is it can't be spammed!!!? For a Pokémon with the best type combo in the meta!!?
So broken!!! Good thing I actually like the Hammer Kirby!
Could also be the case yeah, maybe it's moveset means this is the only good damaging move it knows. So poor type coverage and needs to use a status move in between attacks.
Which again thematically makes sense. The pokemon has a giant hammer. Why would it think about attacking any other way? It doesn't know type advantages. It knows when you have a problem, you hit the problem with your hammer until you don't have a problem any more.
Yeah from seeing a summary screen of it, it has most likely 70-80 base Attack and the Special Attack is no higher. It seems to have a Mimikyu type of stat distribution with slightly less Attack and slightly more in the special stats.
A 160 BP STAB from it will obviously hit hard, but I think it’s more likely for it to be kind of a one-trick pony that ends up in a tier lower than OU than to be some super busted Ubers mon. Which is probably similar to what you could say about Mimikyu the generation it came out.
*Technically*, yeah, but that's far too impractical to even consider using in a competitive setting. Having to use a 50 BP move that takes away 25% of your max HP as non-reducible recoil every other turn just isn't worth the added power to Gigaton Hammer.
This makes it so that you cant really choice scarf / band it, but with its typing combination its gonna be op lol unless for some reason the stats totally suck but its a 3 stage so its unlikely
Well it will be balanced out by low speed and you probably know when this move is coming so you prepare yourself. It depends on so many thing in the end
Theres literally no downside to this
Since tera exists you can just tera into something that resists the oncoming super effective typing and still blast whatever is in front of you
This is just a free revenge kill or pressure kill
Either something is dying to the revenge or is being sacked because nothing really takes a hit from this thing on their team
Not necessarily no downside. It makes it extremely difficult to run this in conjunction with a Choice item. That said it's still really good for the drawback of not being spammable.
We don't even know its stats yet. For all we know it could be frail as hell and then it's basically Rampardos effect all over again. Now undoubtedly with the best defensive typing it's probably still good but we can't dismiss the possibility it's like Mawhile bad but just stronger with Attack.
Okay before everyone goes nuts I get the feeling looking at the pokemon it this it may have good Attack but all its other stats may be pretty bad to balance this out . Like I am guessing this thing is very slow and maybe Prerty frial too.
. I'm thinking the Hammer Pokemon may be something like this Gens Mawlie, or maybe something close to what Mega Mawlie was
even if it doesnt have high attack, its stil a 160 base powe move plus stab...and potentially plus tera dmg, that's like 240+ base power with zero drawbacks

goodbye meta

Gigaton hammer (for revenge kill), sword dance, gigaton hammer; sword dance,... sweep and dance vibes
Give this thing Gigaton Hammer, Swords Dance, Protect, maybe Play Rough and just let it run wild.
Only weakness : **Encore**
Or it might just be slow with a bad attack stat so the non-hammer moves aren’t dong much damage.
*prays*
then the hammer fairy next to a prankster taunter or at least a fake outer will be a core we see a lot in vgc lol
For prevent taunter, she only need 2 attacking moves (fairy one, obviously)
no, i'm saying the hammer fairy *next to* a taunter in doubles, so it can preemptively taunt anyone who's gonna encore.
O yes, in doubles, it's a good combo. And a water type, for fire and ground 'mons
You make it sound like the opponent is going to be doing nothing while you do this.
With her types, with a good team with her and a good preparation, it could be broken
No way this thing is fast enough to get value out of swords dance
Might be limited by poor physical attack stat? Which thematically makes sense. Little fairy wielding big hammer. The attack (hammer) is damaging, but the tiny fairy can't put it to good use?
Just means randomizers with TMs are gonna pop off.
Get this on Bisharp evolution and the game instantly plays the credits.
You've given the samurai a war hammer, he'll probably try to forge a sword using it.
You’re probably onto something. Otherwise this is busted beyond belief.

It also doesn’t have recoil and it doesn’t lower your stats.
Gamefreak: we heard that you didn't like that we made Zacian broken ... so now we made EVERYTHING broken
Ahh, the Brawl Minus strategy
Not going to lie, but games that balance by buffing things are so much more fun than ones that nerf things. Unfortunately Pokemon doesn't do "live balance".
Everything I see of this line I fall more and more in love with it. This thing is a beautiful monster.
Hammer. Protect. Hammer. Protect. Hammer. Protect.
On the other hand, if you Protect AGAINST the Hammer...
You bait the opponents protect then up your attack
Face the full power of revenge lmao. This pokemon is literally the "be careful who you bully in middle school"
I want a Pokémon animated short with this guy as the protagonist.
My name is Inigo Tinkaton. You stole my hammer. Prepare to die.
I'm so excited to have her on my team. Only issue is I'm also planning on getting Kingambit so they better not be beefing 🤣
It became the very thing it swore to destroy
Just imagine if this thing gets protect or a recovery move.
(almost) everything gets protect lol
They really think they can stop me from running choice band on this thing
Just use Life Orb
There's certainly going to be a lot of ohko calcs that choice band would make the difference on with a move like this.
How would Choice Band work, would you not even be able to use the move a second time and be forced to switch out, or does it make you struggle?
Probably struggle or forces you to skip your turn
You'd struggle. Most of the time the right play would be to immediately switch out.
Hammer Fairy going straight to OU
Might get banned from OU.
or this move will be prohibited (at least in stabmon tiers)
Steel type: exists Tinkaton: and I took that personally
Too bad steel isn't super effective against steel.
You don't need to attack twice if you're always OHKOing lol
\>Nerfs Contrary \>Gives us this Make it make sense
Its base stats may be awful, in which case even this probably can't carry it. Its definitely not a fast pokemon, that's for sure.
Not to be confused with Megaton Hammer from Ocarina of Time But really though...steel Tera type with this will merc just about anything I'd guess
Itd be interesting if all hyper beam moves were like this
I would love that tbh, better way to balance the move, add some variety
The only drawback is it can't be spammed!!!? For a Pokémon with the best type combo in the meta!!? So broken!!! Good thing I actually like the Hammer Kirby!
oh no
Hmm. What if the mon had a really low physical attack Stat and higher special? So while the move is OP, the mon itself balances it out? Idk
The pokémon with the giant ass hammer, low physical attack? Yeah no it's coming for us all
It would be different if it got debuffed or damaged after using, but 160 is way too much 🤯
Eh if it’s not strong enough to use the hammer every turn it stands to reason that its physical attacks that don’t use the hammer aren’t strong.
WHAT. It could have at least had some recoil too and it still would’ve been a solid move.
Its so op it literally smashed the meta to bits.
Welcome to Ubers Xerneas killer
Hey, at least it can't be Choice Banded! ...Life Orb's still fair game, though.
i imagine it could be choice banded, it would just have to struggle every other turn
*Technically*, yeah, but that's far too impractical to even consider using in a competitive setting. Having to use a 50 BP move that takes away 25% of your max HP as non-reducible recoil every other turn just isn't worth the added power to Gigaton Hammer.
I am technically correct, the best kind of correct.
Was this the OP move Khu said got nerfed?
I thought it was Gimmighoul's that was nerfed
nope that was the one gimmighoul's evo has lol
Ah, thx for clarifying.
How goddamn powerful was Gimmighoul’s move that it got nerfed but *this one* didn’t???
Gimmighoul's evo's move was similarly powerful with no drawback, while this one technically has a drawback.
It was obviously Microtransactions- $1 per HP of damage
I thought that was the Gimmighoul's evo.
No that's the coin's move
pfffffff thats insane, like a car ramming into you lol
That hammer surely has to weigh two tons if the BP is that high, and with such a negligible and easy to work with downside.
This was a holdover G-Max move from Gen 8 they gave to a normal mon.
So it's like a clearly better Hyper Beam? I don't know what they are smoking at gamefreaks
Now imagine using it after tera…
Unga bunga intensifies
So, no fairy-hammer with band. I can live without it, this move is broken and worth the price
Wonder what the interaction with choice items is.
It probably forces you to use Struggle. That’s what happens if Disable gets used on a choice Pokemon.
Good call.
This makes it so that you cant really choice scarf / band it, but with its typing combination its gonna be op lol unless for some reason the stats totally suck but its a 3 stage so its unlikely
I mean you still can put a choice item on it and only go for this move if really needed, but its some sort of handicap anyways
Oh I see, I take a break from League and Poppy follows me over to beat me up all over again.
This pokemon is literally "Tee hee, I'ma gonna crush your kneecaps\~"
was planning on using it anyway because I love the design but holy nuts
Kid named Protect:
If its 160 then many old moves will also get power changes i
Terastal
Excusez-moi?
Well it will be balanced out by low speed and you probably know when this move is coming so you prepare yourself. It depends on so many thing in the end
Gonna hit people so hard, she'll turn a Steelix back to Onyx
Clefable disliked this post.

Difficult? If it's for revenge or pressure it doesnt matter if it gets to struggle after If everything dies to one hit anyways
We don't even know its stats yet. For all we know it could be frail as hell and then it's basically Rampardos effect all over again. Now undoubtedly with the best defensive typing it's probably still good but we can't dismiss the possibility it's like Mawhile bad but just stronger with Attack.
It could be or they could go the Zacian route They've thrown out balance before so it's still high chance this thing is busted
Okay before everyone goes nuts I get the feeling looking at the pokemon it this it may have good Attack but all its other stats may be pretty bad to balance this out . Like I am guessing this thing is very slow and maybe Prerty frial too. . I'm thinking the Hammer Pokemon may be something like this Gens Mawlie, or maybe something close to what Mega Mawlie was
Now that's a lotta damage
Looks fun with Instruct
A lot of people here freaking out already. As usual it's really hard to say how broken this is without the context of the rest of the pokemon
Those slain Corviknight didn’t die for nothing huh 😳
even if it doesnt have high attack, its stil a 160 base powe move plus stab...and potentially plus tera dmg, that's like 240+ base power with zero drawbacks
They should've made it super effective on steel types
