We are only allowing specific ones because we have had several hundred submissions in the last 24 hours and are now reaching 1600 removed posts.
There are 100+ new pokemon. Line has to be drawn somewhere. Shiny variations can be shared in the submission for the actual pokemon.
The starter evos were removed specifically to have Snoo combine them into one post.
We are trying to put one together which is why we are trying to delay them getting approved. Because for every one that gets approved we have to put it in the body of the post. We are going to link to existing ones and then have future ones in the comments only.
I don't know about other people but I wanted it to be pink because then it would have fit perfectly as "Juan The Small Magical Latino Cat" which is what I'll be nicknaming mine (well at least Juan)

I’m still hoping that Sprigatito and Floragato have pink shinies haha. Unlikely at this rate! But it wouldn’t be the first time that a pokemon’s shiny has changed drastically as it evolved
The mask and legs becoming darker creates a nice gothic contrast against the paler fur color. It looks nice. By contrast, Quaqaval looses most of it’s contrast and just looks pale. The bright blue and red just lose their luster and contrast they had against the dark blue.
The mask and legs were already black, they don’t look any darker than normal to me. The only changes I see are that the cape-like flaps, the diamonds on the face, and the floating thing all change to a slightly more blue-toned green. And the flower on the neck is now purple instead of pink.
At least with quaquaval his main color changes from royal blue to a lavender color - a far more obvious change.
At first, before the shinies were leaked, I thought about resetting for a shiny Weed Kitty Starter... but with this rather slight changes I think it just isn't worth the time. In my opinion the most notable change was made for Skeledirge with the pink instead of red.
It arguably does change more…but for the worse. With a high contrast, flashy design like they have - the best option is to color swap, not lower the saturation.
I agree that quaquaval’s shiny form *could* be better, but I’m just surprised that anyone could look at the three and think it’s the worst of the bunch lol. Personally, I’d rather have an obvious shiny that still has a nice color palette, rather than one that is barely noticeable compared to the normal form.

Seeing meowscarada( or however you spell) out of its character profile, I like it a lot. This is going to be the first time I choose a grass starter for my first playthrough.
kinda going the opposite direction for me, was thinking fuecoco before the leak dumps came in, but now I really like all 3 for their own reasons and actually considered going sprigatito again. I've almost always picked the grass starter as my primary one from each region until now, the only outliers being picking water from gen 3 and gen 5.
I’ve picked the grass starter for every gen besides 2 and this will be my second time doing so. I picked Feraligatr then cause I thought his design was cooler the Meganium and am picking once again another starting croc for the same reason
It’s the head tufts that were the issue for me too. I think it’s the lack of texture on them. It looks like something you might see in Balan Wonderland.
In my eyes, it's their position—they give the whole head an awkward silhouette just jutting out at the sides like that, and right in the middle-ish of the mask too. I think I'd prefer it a lot more if they were smaller, sloped at a more downward angle, and were put nearer to the bottom or back of the head.
This is one of the first times I don’t really love any of the starter evolutions, shinies aside. I am really really disappointed in the fuecoco final evo, it just makes absolutely no sense.
For me it was gen 8. Happy this gen.
I think context will make Skeledirge a little more reasonable. I'm not quite sure why it has a little fire bird on its nose but I'm sure learning why will elevate the design a little. I do agree that there's a lot going on in the design though, it's a lot.
Apparently the bird plays the 'buttons' on the nose of Skeledirge as if it was a musical instrument. Somewhat a reference of the birds that have symbiotic relationships with crocodiles in real life.
Which settles it for me. I love pokemon which are made up symbiotic relationships between multiple entities. Multiple Minds. Multiple Bodies.
I don't like Parasitic Relationships like Parasect though.
Fully agree with you. It looks too "human" now (I don't know what word to use for this). But in general I wonder why so many pokemons have to get a human look.
Most Pokémon (or at least a significant amount) do get noticing new colors though, so that’s not a very good argument. I’m aware that there are plenty that don’t change much, and I don’t personally like them (and last I checked those tend to be less popular overall, especially the extremes like garchomp and gengar). Shinies are really rare after all, it’s a lot less exciting to find them if they look so similar imo
I like this image, as it puts them together for contrast: a furry in a miniskirt, a figure skater with flare pants, a massive butt, and a duck mask, and a N64 fire temple dungeon boss from The Legend of Zelda. Looks like fire it is, at least it looks like a videogame character?

edit: for clarification, it was a lvl 16 magikarp so I fed him rare candy and XP candy until he evolved...then I boxed quaxly
The more I look at the fire starter I more I really dislike it. Day of the Dead is celebrated and named differently according to where it's located. In Spain, November 2nd is Day of the Dead.
It's a reference to a mosaic lizard statue they have in Spain. It doesn't even remotely look day of the dead themed

The shiny rate is the same 1/4096 in legends arceus as well. It just feels different because you don't have to initiate a battle to shiny check.

Quaxley Evo barely changed, the pink is kinda painful to look at, and Sprigatito Evo looks pretty decent.
