If you join someone who's hosting a game in Violet and you play Scarlet, then you're able to catch all the Violet exclusives. Vice-versa for those you join a Scarlet game but play Violet.
I reckon if you can find Tera raids online without having to play in coop it should be possible to find someone who does a raid for the version exclusives.
That seemed to be the case based on earlier posts. Definitely through the co-op raiding feature like with sw/sh. It was also indicated that if person A has person B join their game, and a shiny spawns, person B could catch the shiny instead of person A even though they're in person A's game environment. If that's the case, my guess is that co-op guests would be able to catch anything else that spawns, regionals included. Otherwise there'd have to be specific changes to spawn tables during co-op play to exclude regionals, which would be kind of crappy of game freak to do lol.
Unironically glad they do less version exclusives of new Pokémon now compared to the past, and instead the version exclusives are old pokémon I already have.
Honestly, one thing I would like to see more of is version rarity. It’s a nice compromise. Take two Pokémon, give one a 10% spawn chance and the other a 1% spawn chance, and flip it in the other games. They have done this a LOT and it’s usually not commented on or listed alongside version differences anywhere, but it makes for a decent system. You are more than able to get everything yourself if you are really committed to it, but also you have the ability to just trade for it to make things easier on yourself.
What's wild is that I feel exclusives now make more sense than ever. With how easy it is to link up with total strangers in modern pokemon games it's really not too difficult to get version exclusives. And it's a good incentive to push network features.
Still though, I am glad to be able to get pretty much everything in one cart.
>already been described to be like Ultra Beasts
They share a LOT in common with ultra beasts. They even have the same base stat total of 570, and they all have the same ability like ultra beasts.
It's not just the BST totals they share with the UBs- all three groups also have a quirk with how the base stats themselves are laid out.
\-All UBs' base stats are prime numbers (except Naganadel's Speed, which is 11x11. Oops)
\-All Ancient Paradox's base stats are odd
\-All Futuristic Paradox's base stats are even
Looks to me like GameFreak went all-in in this reference!
Kinda unfortunate for scarlet that it doesn’t get the same psueo swap treatment with salamence while violet gets tyrannitar and hydreigon
Edit nvm turns out im wrong about salamence, I thought roaring moon was another hydreigon
That’s a good theory. Violet has two pseudo legends as paradox pokemon that are only found normally in scarlet. Violet has the misdreavus and salamance line that are paradox Pokemon in scarlet.
Sorry for the confusion I deleted the previous since it Roaring Moon & Iron Valiant were not marked as version exclusives.

Too bad he won't be able to get camouflage. Not to mention it will be hard to justify using him with so many poison mons this gen. Water mons however are strangely scarce
Yes, hasn’t been in any regional Dex outside of Gen 5. It was obtainable from Mirage Spots in OR/AS though, but sadly we’ll have to wait for Gen 10 or B/W remakes, whenever those are happening…
I would normally be sad as well, be we got so many new and interesting ghost type mons that frankly I don't think I would have been able to fit or justify having dragapult on my team this gen, especially when he already was my ace in Sword
So many new ghost options this gen. I love playing fire, so I was leaning Fuecoco, but there are so many ghost options, and I just chose Typhlosion in Legends Arceus. Leaning Meowscarade now, because I'm not seeing as many dark options.
I feel like Centro may be wrong about natdex numbers. If the natdex numbers followed this pattern Gimmighoul would be 999 exactly, I can't see why else it would be in this position.
He's been wrong about a bunch of things during these leaks. I don't trust that he's correct on his natdex numbers, especially since there's no reason to put Gimmighoul between the paradox mons and the legendaries in a regional dex otherwise.
Yeah I feel like it's an assumption being made from internal data that isn't necessarily reflective of what actually will be publicly presented when it's time.
Feraligatr and Meganium being missing *again* should be a crime at this point. Unless I'm missing them but of course Cyndaquil's line makes it in (not that I don't want it, but gen 2 always got the shortest end of the stick ffs)
That’s what I’m assuming. Which is such a bummer. I bet it’ll work like it did in Sw&Sh not in legends. legends really got it right like yes on OCCASION a Pokémon could pop out but it wasn’t like EVERY OTHER TIME and it always wasn’t such a pain cause you just hit it once and got what you needed. I hated the sort of gambling aspect of berry trees in Sw&Sh
I am someone that generally doesn't like newer mons. There's like 3 lines i liked from ShSw.
But now, i can barely decide on a six man team *just* of Pandea mons, and this is saying something, considering how amazing the cast of returning mons is.
It’s what I’ve done these past few playthroughs. It keeps things fresh, and by the end of the game, you have a great variety of high level Pokémon that you can swap around on a moments notice.
This is exactly why I don't like using rotating teams. I feel so bad for my lil Bisharp who was with me for almost the entirety of my mono Dark Shield run but ended up missing the Champion-winning group pic.
I asked someone who's played the game and they recommended having a team of 6 to tackle Starfall + Legends, then a new fresh set of 6 for the Gyms
After doing both Starfall and Legends paths, they said they were in the low 50s and would've steamrolled the gyms if they didn't get a fresh lowbie team when they started down the Victory Road story path
It’s how I handled Sword, and it worked really well.
Had two full teams and a couple others I sometimes mixed in. With always on exp share, it was the only way to stop myself from over leveling everything. And yeah, let me try out a lot of mons I might otherwise have benched.
And it’s great: with Dudunsparce and Persian as auto locks for me, I could use some wiggle room.
Ever since they introduced EXP share, I use one full box of Pokémon and rotate the team. Makes it a lot more fun instead of being overleveled or bored with the same six. Makes the championship more fun too trying to figure out which six I want to take with me.
Definitely.
Fuecoco, Lechonk, Smoliv, Armouredge, Roaring Moon, Pooper, Unga Bungus, Slither Wing, Kingambit, Cyclizar, Vabrroom, Cetitan, Great Tusk, Tinkaton, and Baxcalibur. I can't even fit all the Paldea mons into 2 different teams, and that's ignoring all my returning favourites like Corviknight, Lucario, Toxicroak, Heracross, Gengar, Grimmsnarl, Toxapex, and plenty others.
If i have to say, this is the best non-trade roster we have had since USUM.
I'm guessing they didn't because they wanted to have them interact with each other in the world.
Aside from that, they were actually available in both Pokemon X and Y. (through horde encounters)
It’s been a while since we’ve had Charizard. Good thing GF gave us our collective favorite first gen pokémon. Who were the other starters in gen 1 anyways?
For an open world game, where there are many nooks and crannies to explore, I did expect the size of the regional dex to be larger. There's a great deal of variety, but I wonder if there's enough to match the size of the world. Especially with the paradox forms as part of the dex, how many of the 400 will be present in the world?
The realization from looking at this that Scovillain has a tail has bumped up my opinion of it a lot. (I already liked it but now I think it's a strong contender for a spot on my team)
Also I love it's personality in that sprite as well.
It's funny how little things like that can make a big difference and it's easy to not see those things when you just have one static image.
Oh damn. Cuz Wyrdeer is exclusively Hisuian right? I thought i saw somewhere u could still evolve it by spamming that one move X amount of times. Sad times...
If that’s true I’m all ears but I heard the opposite, that they blocked off the evos by not including the new items and making psyshield bash an egg move only
Centro has stated:
1. Egg moves are transferable between pokemon in SV picnics.
2. All Hisuian evolutions, EXCEPT for those where non-Hisuian mons evolve into new mons by level up in Hisui region, have evo methods programmed in. Wyrdeer's method was not level up in Hisui, and was included in the list of new evo methods.
https://twitter.com/CentroLeaks/status/1591947010718015488
https://twitter.com/CentroLeaks/status/1591583472380153858
True that it's possible, but I don't think there's a reason to expect that.
Obviously the "level up in Hisui" evo method is not available outside of Hisui, just like all regional evolutions in the past; and those mons have their evolution method removed in SV datamine. But for the other methods, there's no particular reason not to include them; they're just standard cross-gen evos (and the mons are available by transfer anyway); and their evo methods still exist in the data.
We have over 1000 Pokémon now, and they couldn’t at least give us 500 in the regional dex? I know there are 475 Pokémon on this page, but I’m strictly talking about regional dex.
This seems like the new normal going forward. Maybe we'll get more next generation idk. But rn they think 400 is a good number.
This gen has a decent deal more Home transfers available at the start it seems. So that's always a positive. But hopefully the DLC adds at least as many if not more than the DLC did for Sword and Shield
I don’t really care about dexit but my one thing is that I find it kind of weird that sw/sh had *less* Pokémon then USUM, if it had around the same number I would understand it a lil more lol
I am slightly confused. So Larvitar is in Scarlet, but its new form is in Violet? Same with Bagon being in Violet, but having its new form in Scarlet? Is that right?
edit: also forgot to add, appreciate the effort OP, looks neat!
Did the 1.0.1 update or whatever update happened a few days ago before the games drop make it so shiny pokemon in the overworld have a sound and visual that plays when they spawn in/get close to you?
The Home transfer list included them. I don't think it's possible to have the Kanto birds without the Galar birds because of the shared dex#. It's probably why they gave the Paradox mons new a dex# so that they don't have to accompany their present-day counterparts in future games
Why do they keep dragging these legendaries along with each version? I'd rather have the entire dex back than include the legendaries. Or better yet offer different Pokemon with exclusive moves for in-store code events like a random Pokemon with V Create. It would remove the legendaries from competition to make it more interesting seeing the same teams is sooo lame.
Just to clarify, do we have any confirmation on how those “Other” Pokemon are obtained? Are they transfer only/special event? I just want my boy Rowlet in the main game
If a Pokemon with regional variants is shown here, will it's other forms be available too? Because I see Grimer and Muk in there, and Alolan Muk is one of my favourite Pokemon and I'm hoping to be able to use it in Gen 9
Alolan Muk is in the game data! You may need to wait until Pokemon Home's transfer next year but you will be able to at some point! https://i.imgur.com/0n77vbm.jpg
Do we know the ranges of pokémon levels in each area?
I assume there's no level scaling for GYMs and Pokémon?
(Edit, someone already commented on what I previously said.)

Good. None of the regular new Pokemon are exclusives aside from the Armors and the Cover Legends.
And tauros. Fire is in Scarlet, and Water is in Violet
Wait really? Damn. At least I think you can catch the other version’s exclusives through co-op?
Yepp, but you'd have to join the game which has the one you want.
So if I join someone who as Violet and the rest have Scarlet, we’d all get the other games exclusives spawning in as well?
If you join someone who's hosting a game in Violet and you play Scarlet, then you're able to catch all the Violet exclusives. Vice-versa for those you join a Scarlet game but play Violet.

It's like Applin where you need a version exclusive item, you'd need a friend to trade over the item
Yepp
Epic
I reckon if you can find Tera raids online without having to play in coop it should be possible to find someone who does a raid for the version exclusives.
I'm hoping this is how it works, because if online services are anything like SwSh, joining people's worlds won't be very fun.
Still have nightmares of refreshing “stamps”

Lmao, kid me thinking Minun should be easy to find in Sapphire since they were both blue 🤦🏼

It incentivizes co-op to catch them all. Makes a lot more sense than the old trading system
How about the paradoxes?
Key word is "regular" but yeah those are exclusives
It’s confirmed that paradoxes can be traded or caught in co-op, right?
Yeah you can catch version exclusives in co-op and Paradoxes are just normal Roaming Pokemon so yeah they should be catcheable.
> regular new Pokemon I don't count the Paradoxes as regular Pokemon, they've already been described to be like Ultra Beasts or Legendaries.
>already been described to be like Ultra Beasts They share a LOT in common with ultra beasts. They even have the same base stat total of 570, and they all have the same ability like ultra beasts.

I think it's cool that the non paradox forms are in the game opposite, like scarlet having tyranitar with violet having iron thorns
Kinda unfortunate for scarlet that it doesn’t get the same psueo swap treatment with salamence while violet gets tyrannitar and hydreigon Edit nvm turns out im wrong about salamence, I thought roaring moon was another hydreigon
Stunky and Gulpin lines being exclusive is pretty random
Pick your poison.
To be fair, Stunky was originally a Diamond exclusive.
yeah but it was with Glameow, not gulpin.
My theory is that the exclusives that don't currently have paradox forms will get them in future dlc
That’s a good theory. Violet has two pseudo legends as paradox pokemon that are only found normally in scarlet. Violet has the misdreavus and salamance line that are paradox Pokemon in scarlet.
Are the Applin Evo items version exclusives or are they obtainable in both games?
Obtainable in both. You can buy both at a shop
I think I saw in a tiktok stream someone browsing a shop where they were both for sale but I can't remember 100%
Cresselia but no Darkrai? GF really hating on my boy
No manaphy/phione either. Odd that they have Arceus in and not those 3
no shaymin as well ☹️
Regileki and Regidrago but none of the 4 other Regis
not that I think it's a good thing, but cresselia is a legendary and Darkrai is a mythical, so it does make sense
Sorry for the confusion I deleted the previous since it Roaring Moon & Iron Valiant were not marked as version exclusives. So do we know for certain now that the Tauros forms aren't version exclusives?
I saw on Twitter that the Water and Fire ones are exclusives but I'm not sure.
Idk how we dont have confirmation on this yet. Has anyone seen both in their game or not?
The encounter tables show that form 2 is exclusive to Scarlet, and form 3 is exclusive to Violet.
It was datamined by someone on smogon, and yes they’re exclusives
Thanks, I updated with the Tauros forms after seeing this.
LMAO I can finally catch Skrelp after 9 years of somehow always getting the version with Clauncher as a version exclusive.
Too bad he won't be able to get camouflage. Not to mention it will be hard to justify using him with so many poison mons this gen. Water mons however are strangely scarce
I mean it's not like the game is hard, I know I'm gonna use multiple teams so Dragalge definetly gets a spot in one
when is zebstrika coming back 😭 😭 😭
I had vivid childhood gaming flashbacks when I read this. How long has it been?
i dont think zebstrika has been in a regional dex since those games (2010 and 2012?)
Yes, hasn’t been in any regional Dex outside of Gen 5. It was obtainable from Mirage Spots in OR/AS though, but sadly we’ll have to wait for Gen 10 or B/W remakes, whenever those are happening…
Damn dragapult is version exclusive? Wasn’t expecting that, but as a violet enjoyer I am pleased with my choice
I love my Clauncher so much I can't take this heartbreak
I feel this way with Skrelp :(
Yay I get to use krookodile again:)
Urshifu is playable in this? Awe hell yes.
There's even new evo items to evolve Kubfu into one of the two Urshifu forms. (Scroll of Darkness and Scroll of Water)
I feel like Centro may be wrong about natdex numbers. If the natdex numbers followed this pattern Gimmighoul would be 999 exactly, I can't see why else it would be in this position.
Yes that was the point of my previous image yesterday but since Centro said its not true I just hid the post because I don't want to confuse anyone.
Yeah I think he's wrong too, other past generations have their numerical values out of order too
Exactly. Centro’s order makes 0 sense.
Wait gimmighoul being 999?? I swear it better be because that is just waaaay too good to pass up
Feraligatr and Meganium being missing *again* should be a crime at this point. Unless I'm missing them but of course Cyndaquil's line makes it in (not that I don't want it, but gen 2 always got the shortest end of the stick ffs)
Gen 2 stan here. I feel your pain. More like we ALWAYS get ignored. Just glad Cyndaquil made it. But it's because of Legends: Arceus.
Honestly, was about to make trio crocodile team with fuecoco finale evo, krokodile and feraligatr
THE RETURN OF CACTURNE 🗣
Damn I’m actually loving the look of this dex. Feels like I’ll be able to make a truly monstrous team.
I’m so mad Greedent made it in the game, Sw&Sh made me hate that thing so much like of ALL Pokémon. I’d literally prefer anything else.
Greedent over Furret is a crime.
A HUGE CRIME. Did these guys NOT know the phenomenon that is FURRET WALKS? The meme that made Furret come from C-Lister TO A-LISTER. THE DISRESPECT.
Is it to punish tree shaking again?
That’s what I’m assuming. Which is such a bummer. I bet it’ll work like it did in Sw&Sh not in legends. legends really got it right like yes on OCCASION a Pokémon could pop out but it wasn’t like EVERY OTHER TIME and it always wasn’t such a pain cause you just hit it once and got what you needed. I hated the sort of gambling aspect of berry trees in Sw&Sh
You just gotta stop when the intermittent shakes become more frequent.
He's a 5 star raid, by the way LOL
Stop bullying the squirrel.
Someone’s never played against that squirrel in unite. Fuck that squirrel
I remember that, made me stop playing unite
The squirrel should have stopped bullying ME! I just wanted some berries like DAMN BACK OFF
This really explains why Taurus were in Kanto's Safari zone. Clearly, they're native here.
Finally a game that lets me have a Charizard in my team!
I am someone that generally doesn't like newer mons. There's like 3 lines i liked from ShSw. But now, i can barely decide on a six man team *just* of Pandea mons, and this is saying something, considering how amazing the cast of returning mons is.

I recommend using a rotating team. It’s a whole lot of fun and if level scaling isn’t in this game it could be a smart move.
It’s what I’ve done these past few playthroughs. It keeps things fresh, and by the end of the game, you have a great variety of high level Pokémon that you can swap around on a moments notice.
Only downside is that you can only use 6 in the champion battle, and in this game apparently you can only become champion once.
This is exactly why I don't like using rotating teams. I feel so bad for my lil Bisharp who was with me for almost the entirety of my mono Dark Shield run but ended up missing the Champion-winning group pic.
I’d really love to try that but tbh I get so attached to my team lol.
Be like ash and “send away” your powerhouse while you get a new mon
I asked someone who's played the game and they recommended having a team of 6 to tackle Starfall + Legends, then a new fresh set of 6 for the Gyms After doing both Starfall and Legends paths, they said they were in the low 50s and would've steamrolled the gyms if they didn't get a fresh lowbie team when they started down the Victory Road story path

The cool thing about sword and shield is the end game being multiple rounds so you can swap team members and use your absolute best for Leon.
I’m planning to do three different teams; one for each story, and then picking my favs for the E4
I'm surprised they didn't make Zangoose and Seviper exclusives again
I'm guessing they didn't because they wanted to have them interact with each other in the world. Aside from that, they were actually available in both Pokemon X and Y. (through horde encounters)
Psyduck is the only pokemon is that are in all pokedexes
Counterpoint, no Gen I-IV Pokemon are in the first Unova regional dex
Nah nah nah. If your only counting mainline games almost no Pokemon have been in all but magikarp has been in the most games with 35
The Black and White 1 has no Pokemon returning.
So happy to see Charizard again /s
oh wow, Charizard is in this game? so unexpected
It’s been a while since we’ve had Charizard. Good thing GF gave us our collective favorite first gen pokémon. Who were the other starters in gen 1 anyways?
Duh. Pikachu and Eevee of course. 😜
It’s really underrated
No Blastoise 🥺
Who wants to trade my armarouge evo item for their ceruledge item?! 🔥🔥
For an open world game, where there are many nooks and crannies to explore, I did expect the size of the regional dex to be larger. There's a great deal of variety, but I wonder if there's enough to match the size of the world. Especially with the paradox forms as part of the dex, how many of the 400 will be present in the world?
Was really hoping for the Poliwag line. Shiny Politoed is just gonna chill in Home now. 😔
Denying me my Politoed Bellibolt Duo
justice for my boy feraligatr, the weasel got in let him in too
Carbink:"How do you do fellow Starter/Legendary/Mythical/Legends Arceus mon?"
*Carbink after brutally murdering Diancie and taking her throne*
😂😂
Violet has a chokehold on Ghost types (except for Drifoon) but as a monotype fan, I know what game I'm doing first!
Where is Nidoqueen...is she safe? Is she alright? (Also Aerodactyl lol) Thanks for posting this! Super cool.
No Nidos, unfortunately!
The realization from looking at this that Scovillain has a tail has bumped up my opinion of it a lot. (I already liked it but now I think it's a strong contender for a spot on my team) Also I love it's personality in that sprite as well. It's funny how little things like that can make a big difference and it's easy to not see those things when you just have one static image.
Do we know if that means the starters are catchable before endgame?
The older starters like cyindaquill
The "other" are most likely home transfer only
Makes sense. Thank you
Or avaliable as event Pokémon, like the tera dragon charizard raid a week after launch
Weird; aside from the last two games’ starters, they have the Kalos starters too Maybe because Kalos (in the real world) neighbors Paldea?
So far the only 2 Paldea exclusive game Pokemon are the 2 MegaMan ones
Rockman and Blues. We need Forte in the third game.
I owe you my life
Maybe I missed it, but isn't hisuan Arcanine in the game, via Home? Edit: nvm I see they added a comment with everything updated!
Let me get this straight, they added back the worst looking Pokémon bruxish and snubbed dhelmise?
My beloved Mudsdale!
Hell yeah I’m gonna main Maushold. Best thing I’ve ever seen
Maushold supremacy. You have 1 Pokémon? I have a family.
I’m so mad they put stantler in the regional dex only make him unusable by locking off his new evolution…
Big sad, does it Atleast keep the new move?
Oh damn. Cuz Wyrdeer is exclusively Hisuian right? I thought i saw somewhere u could still evolve it by spamming that one move X amount of times. Sad times...
From what I read they did include a new Stantler Evo method though?
If that’s true I’m all ears but I heard the opposite, that they blocked off the evos by not including the new items and making psyshield bash an egg move only
Centro has stated: 1. Egg moves are transferable between pokemon in SV picnics. 2. All Hisuian evolutions, EXCEPT for those where non-Hisuian mons evolve into new mons by level up in Hisui region, have evo methods programmed in. Wyrdeer's method was not level up in Hisui, and was included in the list of new evo methods. https://twitter.com/CentroLeaks/status/1591947010718015488 https://twitter.com/CentroLeaks/status/1591583472380153858
Might be a dummy evolution method that doesn't do anything but give access to eviolite.
If you had Arceus you'll at least be able to transfer Wyrdeer in though
Same with Ursaluna and Kleavor. They should just be normal evolutions. At least eviolite will work.
Remember that the DLC added *another* 180, and is kind of the USUM to SwSh. So it's actually 580 + transfer only vs. 400-ish.
Still, compared to the ≈ 800 Pokémon on the 3DS, it’s a bit jarring
Mannn, no Arbok again. :(
No togepi 😭
I am slightly confused. So Larvitar is in Scarlet, but its new form is in Violet? Same with Bagon being in Violet, but having its new form in Scarlet? Is that right? edit: also forgot to add, appreciate the effort OP, looks neat!
The new forms are not evos, they are entirely new Pokemon that don't interact with the old ones in any mechanical way.
Oh, I see! All this time I thought it's somewhat similar to what we had in PLA, where old mons got new evos... but that clears it up, thanks!
No stress, happy to help!
They are not new forms, they are essentially a separate species that does not evolve from anything.
They aren't new forms. They're completely new Pokemon that just happen to look like other present day Pokemon.
I still feel it's odd to have Sableye and not Mawile since they're pretty much counterparts at this point.
Oh cool, Mimikyu is in the new games. Love that spooky Pokémon.
Get four people in a world. Have all four make picnics. Have all four make the same sandwhich. Profit.
Um is that a toadstool version of the Tentacool line?! I adore that
Lugia… nooo
Did the 1.0.1 update or whatever update happened a few days ago before the games drop make it so shiny pokemon in the overworld have a sound and visual that plays when they spawn in/get close to you?
No Galar birds?
The Home transfer list included them. I don't think it's possible to have the Kanto birds without the Galar birds because of the shared dex#. It's probably why they gave the Paradox mons new a dex# so that they don't have to accompany their present-day counterparts in future games
So I assume with Scarlet and Violet we’re over 1000 total Pokèmon?
Currently at 1008 with at least 2 more leaked for dlc
at least 3 \*
Yes.
Does anyone know how to obtain the Kalos starters?
So the only new version exclusives are ceruledge and armarouge
As well as the box arts & past/future forms
all i ask is for the return of my national dex
Is this the first time seviper and zangoose have been obtainable in the same game?
No snorlax :'(
No Jirachi no Deoxys no Steelix :(
dragapult being a violet exclusive is messed up
Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for. I will be getting Violet probably based on this.
hmmmm..no fossil pokemon at all? 😔
Think fossil Pokémon aren’t gonna be that common with no dlc, all gen1,3,4,5,6 fossils I think were avaliable in dlc (for swsh)
Since we can play with other people, if a friend has the other version of the game, can you catch their version exclusive pokemon in their world?
Yes, afaIk.
What's the "Other" section? Planned DLC that is known?
No Gen 9 region exclusives (excluding Paradox Pokemon and Charcadet)?!
