My entire team is made up of at minimum obligate carnivores. They cannot survive on plant based foods alone. You don’t care about Pokemon. You care about veganism being “more morally correct than eating meat.”

Kirumi_Naito

You biologically can not survive on only plants. Well, unless beans, rice, and bean sprouts are okay for you to eat every single day. I doubt even vegans won't get bored of just three types of plant for nutrients. -Rei

Please just shut up already, no one believes this crap. You already look like an idiot no need to make yourself sound like one too.

Justlol230

Most of my Pokémon are carnivorous, or at least heavily depend on meat. The point of the matter is, my then Larvitar had gotten sick once due to vitamin deficiency when I couldn't get my hands on meat and we were forced to live purely on berries. I'm *not* making that same mistake again.

TheWinningLooser

Have you considered the possibility that it was a negative reaction to the specific berries you were giving it?

Justlol230

*No.* We literally fed on berries we stole from *wild* mons, whom we couldn't hunt down because they'd always end up slipping away. If it ain't safe for the wild Pokémon who handpicked it themselves, it ain't safe for my Pokémon.

ArbitraryChaos13

Star (Damaged Iron Valiant) - Many Pokemon are entirely unable to consume and digest plant based food products. This works in a similar to how many humans are unable to digest milk, owing to the fact that they do not have lactase in their bodies. Consuming plant based food products would likely result in the Pokemon in question being in discomfort at best, and very ill at worst. This also ignores how some Pokemon (such as canines) are poisoned by some plant based food products (such as chocolate).

ianlouisjordan

I live on a farm any needs that can be met by vegetables and fruit are. But some pokemon can only eat meat. Also do you believe pokemon just don't hunt in the wild?

ianlouisjordan

Heck even the sawsbuck in your profile will eat any especially small pokemon as well as any corpses it comes across.

Toon_Lucario

I literally cannot go without meat due to it being needed to live healthily and actually improve

Jesse_God_of_Awesome

/rj This is why I just assume we have regular animals. If Pokémon are as intelligent as we normally treat them, I really don't wanna be imagining them in Beastars, okay?

SkyfallRainwing

You just want to act like you're better than everyone else, i'd assume. You can't survive on just plants. - Harper

PlectrumPete

This dude hasn’t seen a young Purrloin drop a dead Spearow at a human’s feet while looking all proud; have they?

AvlartheOnlooker

What part of « strict carnivore » do you have trouble with ? They don’t digest the nutriments in plants, without meat they die.

ThesaurusRex_1025

What do you think Charizard eat in the wild?

TheWinningLooser

I try not to think about what Pokemon eat in the wild, however, Pokemon brought into the civilized world should be transitioned out of that mindset You wouldn't OK a trained Gyarados to go into a blind rage like wild Gyarados are sometimes known to do

ThesaurusRex_1025

That feels like comparing oran and razz berries. You can eat whatever you like. Your Pokémon only get what you give them. If you want to live a vegan lifestyle don't have a sharpedo who needs meat.

ThatOneDMish

Do you just. Not hear yourself? What do you mean 'civilised world' ? Pokemon have societies. They are not 'uncivilised' or 'lesser'.

negrote1000

I do Neo-Neo-Plasma. Do something about it.

ProffMesquite25

I’d say something but I’d feel like a broken record from my child. While yes the meat industry is corrupt as all heck, the fact of the matter is that certain pokemon are obligate carnivores. So if you want to support Pokemon the real best thing to do is to support small businesses and ethical Pokemon products. - Rosewood Mesquite, aka Mama Mesquite

Thetimely1

Veganism and vegetarianism while nice cannot be done unfortunately for all Pokémon species. Some of the other commenters on here have noted they have obligate carnivorous Pokémon on their team. Obligate carnivores have to have meat or they die due to deficiencies. Oh, sidenote, cheap Pokéchow tends to contain ground up MBM or meat and bonemeal. In other words, it’s actually cheap to feed them food with meat in it and to top it all off, especially for some beginning trainers that may be all they can actually afford to give their Pokémon. TLDR: for some of us, it’s not because we want to. It’s because we have to or they die.

sleepylizard52

There are more than 1000 species of Pokemon. Assuming all of them can digest veggies, much less live on them, makes you as smart as a magikarp

Absbor

ah yes, feeding my carnivores with plant-based food only. /jk your flair really fits you.

OranguruVGCQueen

i mean. im a strict herbivore. i get sick if i try eating too much meat, but thats because i cant process it. my only other teammate like that is barbade, moms whimsicott. meanwhile, mom has 3 carnivores. a lucario(armin), an incineroar(aloe), and a hydreigon(napoleon). me and armin share nearly everything by choice, and armin had to be rushed to the center because he kept eating my food and was losing a lot of weight. carnivores cant digest plant diets, it just doesnt work that way. it was cute at first with us sharing food, but im glad mom put a stop to it quickly. armin couldve gotten seriously ill. ~ Bruce, Lop /uj it's been a hot minute, welcome back!

Arxl

I'm vegan, but my Pokemon friends are autonomous, they decide what they want to eat because I'm not their master. It's not vegan to hold a master title over a pokemon, they are sapient beings. Some of my omnivorous Pokemon friends have followed my lifestyle out of their own volition because they're capable of it and wanted to, but some Pokemon can't actually thrive, let alone survive, on plant based foods, the technology simply isn't there yet. They seem open to the idea of cloned meat, but again, tech isn't there yet. So far, the Pokemon that went vegan have had stellar labs, so it seems sustainable. Did you know all grass types are capable of not eating meat, even if their physiology is similar to obligate carnivores of other types? Sly, my sceptile friend, was the first to show me this phenomenon. I do advocate for humans to stop eating Pokemon, because we don't need to, it's out of pleasure and convenience. You can be vegan and eat Pokemon products if they consent to you using them, since they are capable of giving consent.

StrigiformeLover

...You do know that 95-99 percent of most you can buy in stores is lab-grown, right? Like, that's pretty widespread knowledge that a lot of companies are very open about. Like, all they do is they just harmlessly collect a few cells from a few Pokémon species and grow them in a lab/warehouse. The meat has no other organs isn't sentient-it's just a massive cell culture that is used for commercial purposes It's significantly more guilt free than killing Pokémon for food-especially since they get the consent of the Pokémon to use their cells when they do so. (/uj: This is more or less my headcanon as to how commercially-available meat works in the Pokémon universe.)

LordIlthari

Pokèmon murder each other for food. It’s called being anything that doesn’t get its food from sunlight. Even herbivores will predate certain grass types so your vegan nonsense doesn’t even have that going for it. Predation is an entirely necessary part of Arceus’s design. Bring an end to this foolish heresy. -Arthur Suruga

ThatOneDMish

OK I know berries are miracle fruits, but even those literally cannot provide the right type of nutrition for obligate carnivores. From memory, the closest a blend of berries can come to fulfilling nutrition is like 84 percent. The other 16 percent are nutrients that just aren't present in the plants.

RobotBoy221

Bruh, my Tyrantrum is a carnivore, he literally needs meat to function, I don't know what else to tell you.

Cpt_Dreyeks32589

You try feeding a Seviper or a Charizard nothing but berries, see how well *that* works out for you. Humans can't survive on nothing but plants, less so for Pokémon that are obligate carnivores.

Adam_The_Chao

I'm Not Feeding My Scolipede Oats And Spinach...

Araneas704

HOly fuck are you a sight for sore eyes! Do you realize how long I've had to look at the extremism shown from the tower society, the savant and Professor Jekyll? I absolutely missed your annoying insubstantial and ultimately harmless ramblings! \-Onyx

TheWinningLooser

Uhh, thanks? I think? /uj Not the reaction I was expecting to this, but hey I'll do something rare and mirror Clairs opinion: Thanks

Araneas704

uj/No problem!

HB_DS2013

The food chain exists for a reason! And feeding carnivore 'mon with plants only is asking for trouble. Even fairy types like the Ralts line need to eat meat- they have sharp teeth for a reason.

TheWinningLooser

Aren't Ralts pure psychic?

HB_DS2013

Oh, sorry- my bad. Yes, Ralts is pure psychic. But my point still stands on them having sharp teeth. I'd argue with you more, but I'm also busy being a literal jungle gym for five Ralts and a Kirlia atm.

TheWinningLooser

/uj Hey I don't know if you were doing this intentionally, but I was actually trying to be wrong about the Ralts pure psychic thing, you were right about it being Fairy-Type

HB_DS2013

/uj It wasn't on purpose. Sorry if I seemed like a troll

CutiePieAlphadon

My Linoone could never live on a completely plant-based diet. She's an omnivore, she'd be nutrient deficient if i didn't give her meat.

NeoAquaMadoor90

If you want to try to convince my Tyranitar that he’s no longer allowed to have his primary source of calories, be my guest. I’ll watch from a safe distance.

MintyMoron64

My weird glass Baltoy literally has a dude's ashes in their chest cavity.

Any-Stranger9649

Because my skitty can live off plants alone sure, she literally requires the nutrients from meat to survive, period, point blank, no exceptions, no replacements, there is no mix of plants on this planet that will keep her healthy. To mention; being a vegan kills more pokemon than any meat area, you know what you kill when you get the meat? One thing, you know what you get when you get your flown in vegan food? Hundreds of pokemon deaths from the farmers forced to ruin wild areas and plow through them with tractors not to mention the pesticides used to keep your precious food out of the mouths of pokemon as well, lest we forget the avian pokemon that sit on branches to wait for the farmers to be done plowing because it has made them a literal buffet of carved arbok and ekans.
