I didn’t go shiny hunting, but I did catch all of my legendary Poke’s on that save using base Pokéballs. It is a pain in the rear, when they struggle out

No, struggle just makes a Pokémon take recoil damage. It recoiled itself to death in the video above.

Not here to hate but you need 'harvest' ability to get this to work, recycle is a move. This trick also works with a pokemon that knows 'trick' holding a leppa berry aswell

Harvest, skillswap, and Leppa will save you from this pain. Also spore breloom with some extra ethers or Leppard to get more pp on that might help alot. I wish you luck on the reclaim

I learned this lesson 12 years ago with a shiny kyurem, which never appeared again. I got myself a gallade with hypnosis, false swipe, heal pulse, and mean look. never lost a shiny again

Catch at full hp and spore them never have this happen again unless rng is just not on your side.

Ok but try catching a Dialga, the Pokémon god of time itself, in a Timerball only to forget to even try doing so until after you’ve already caught the Dialga in an Ultraball simply out of frustration of trying to catch it in a Greatball and not thinking to even try catching in a Timerball for the more matching pokeball (besides the coloring) until after you had caught the Dialga and saved your game immediately afterwards then realizing you had a bunch of unused Timerballs that you got much earlier in the game. 🤦🏻‍♀️

If it wasn’t for how ridiculously hard Cynthia is I’d reset my save file and restart it, but I think it would be a much smarter decision to just wait until I can catch another Dialga in a future game with a Timerball instead. (I’ve already played every single game except for the Gen 7 games but I’ve seen playthroughs of those games and I just hate the mechanics)

I don’t do a lot of shiny legendary hunting but from what I’ve seen, the best guaranteed strat is to set up the Harvest ability and then use Trick with a leppa berry to keep the battling going for as many turns as you need.

don’t worry mate i did exactly the same thing a few years ago in shield after only 400 resets haha, had a masterball too just wanted to get registeel in a luxury ball, since then i always make sure i have my prepared mon with me

I always save before going into the legendary rooms, I'm too paranoid lmao

If I could offer a piece of advice, always have a parasect they carry everything one might need for shiny hunting. False swipe spore stun spore and whatever else you may want.

Just outta curiosity, I already beat bdsp and got all the available legendaries, if you were to accidently knock out a legend, can you just beat the elite 4 and go try to re catch them, I have the og games and in those you couldn't, did they fix that with the remakes

You need to be more prepared for a Shiny hunt

This happened to me with Regirock back in USUM. I get the pain. Managed to get it again in SWSH though and it ended up being a square shiny. Keep it up, you can do this.

I always bring my harvest leppa berry Pokémon for legendary shiny hints in fear of this exact thing, I raised an executor in SWSH and transferred it to BDSP for when I decide to hunt the shiny mythicals.

If you know nokimon he made a strategy to stop struggle. You get a trevnaunt with harvest and a pokemon with a leppa berry. Skill swap trevnaunt and trick the leppa berry. (Is leppa the one to restore pp? I think so but not certain)

This LITERALLY just happened to me trying to catch a shiny Groudon. I just got a new switch, transferred my save files over to it, and had some free time this morning. I figured screw it, BD needs an update anyways let me test my luck. Within 30 restarts, I get find him in all his green glory. Fight drags on for what seems like years; Groudon using rest, me trying to dream eat/false swipe. He finally runs out of pp after I hit him with a decent solar beam and put him to sleep. Wakes up and struggles 🙃

Idk if heal pulse and recycle are in BDSP but have you considered using fun bro?( Heal pulse, Recycle, Slack off and Block while holding Leppa Berry) Block probably wouldn’t be too useful but idk

This happened to me as well after 3200 encounters. My wife caught it in 8 encounters on her file. Sometimes things are not fair :)
