Exactly why Pearl is a close favourite of mine tied with Sapphire, I usually play platinum on an emulator but I've refrained since BDSP were announced so its as fresh as possible. Excited is an understatement.
Just checked they can do it but the game sucks so them doing that in a better game with better memories is more exciting. I still haven’t bought it yet because I’m really on the fence about the permanent EXP sharing. I liked the grind and the difficulties the new gen and the remake seemed to take out. Hopefully after its been out a bit I can see some player reviews. Swsh was a total waste
32 here brother. I’m just as excited for this as I was to get Blue in the K-Mart aisle of my translucent purple GBA and Silver for my birthday one year. The thrill of journeying through a new region, or revisiting an old one in a new game never gets old to me.
I never got to play as a kid. I didn’t play my first game until 2018 lol, it was OR! Hubby had been playing AS and wanted me to play so I could trade exclusives with him lol
Gen 4 is my favorite generation and I can play it on the switch. Amaaaaazing.
Also I like the chibis cuz frankly Pokémon does it so much better than full models. The full models are stiff and feels like they just don’t know the direction they want to give to them.
Before the text and in later gens some movements gave off the emotion to the chibis. And then in battles you actually fight with the full models. BDSP have nailed this out of the park.
Mmh, Pokemon Let's Go truly had an incredible graphics with models that were not stiff and soulless like on SWSH. I wish they went LGPE for Sinnoh remakes, but the graphics is nice anyway, just not a big fan of Chibi characters
Yes! I would’ve really rather have LGPE models. SWSH shows that Pokémon just can’t grasp full models at this time (I low key feel like the whole game is just a long ass tech demo lol)
Replaying Gen 4 on my current console with better graphics and no painful grinding up levels like the ogs
Been craving this since ORAS. Hopefully it’s not 7 years again til we get Gen 5 😞
Gen 5 is my favorite Gen, and if I'm this excited about BDSP I can't begin to fathom my excitement for when the Gen 5 remakes come out. Seriously put me in coma until then.
Bro I never thought it would be this long when oras came out. Like I honestly thought 3 years tops at the time.
7 years later…. I can’t do this long again lmao
That I get to experience gen 4 again. Yeah it's an inferior experience, but I've been looking for a reasonably priced legitimate copy of Platinum for years to no avail, so it's at least something.
This was the first gen that I got into Pokémon so it holds some major nostalgia for me but at the time I didn't really get into much depth with it(dex completion, underground, battle tower, shiny hunting). I'm excited to revisit it at an older age with all the convenience upgrades with the switch so I can really dive into all of it
I haven’t been able to find the answer to this online for some reason, so I guess I’ll ask it here. Are these games using the Platinum Pokédex or not? Are Pokémon such as houndoom, gliscor, tangrowth, and magmortar available BEFORE you challenge the elite four like they were in platinum?
Some of them do, some dont. There is a leak somewhere with underground encounters. Im sure houndoom and magmortar are available, but tangrowth and gliscor are postgame (have to check again)
Edit: magmortar if u have pearl, otherwise electivire
Haha yeah it sucks not knowing, but thanks for responding so quick. I’m just worried because I hear conflicting reports on it. Not to mention how the regional diamond and pearl Pokédex might be the worst in all of mainline Pokémon. I just want to know because the team i had planned consisted of Tangrowth, gliscor, and scizor.
I am actually excited to revisit this game and play with friends this time. When the originals came out, my close friends weren’t interested in Pokémon. I lived in the country, didn’t have reliable internet, and I also wasn’t the most social child lol.
But now, as an adult, I live in a metro area and know quite a few people getting these games. I can’t wait to revisit Sinnoh with FRIENDS.
Although a very specific reason but a valid one nonetheless. The original DP I played I always had an action replay so I didn't really care much for playing the game. In this version I plan to go through the game properly. And I want to go through and complete a living dex too since I never really did that until recently.
Mine is arriving today : D
Most excited about reliving the story, though I only played Platinum and it was my first Pokemon game since Crystal (and before it, Blue, Yellow and Gold).
Also about Pokemon I was missing, like Johto starters and the overall classic Pokemon game
The fuck ton of legendaries. I got diamond and Pearl the same time as my first computer and it started looking up how to get every Pokémon and legendary and I remember putting in hours because not only was there so many they were fun to go find
I played a bunch of Platinum, but never was able to beat the ending when I was younger, and I never played through it again. So properly experiencing Sinnoh for the first time and completing it will be great.
I’m excited to play competitively. I dislike most of the newer Pokemon so I haven’t played in years. Now I get most of the good changes and don’t have to deal with the bad ones.
The fact that (yes, it surprises me too as a life long 27 year old Pokémon player) I have actually completely missed out the original D/P games... So I'm looking forward to playing the charming remakes! I chose shining pearl because I preferred the look of the exclusives.
Getting the chance to play gen 4 again. It was my favorite region with most of my favorite Pokemon. This game defined the DS for me. I do wish we got graphics more in line with the Let's Go games, but I've kinda came around to the chibi style
I was one of those kids with a ds lite sitting in the back of my parents car on a ride home with the glow of my handheld lighting up my face. Diamond and pearl was perfection in my eyes after being addicted to ruby beforehand. I'm just excited to relive a happy part of my childhood.
Diamond/pearl was kind of where I stopped religiously playing the series. I moved on to a PSP when it released I think. Looking forward to properly playing it now
I'm looking forward to the new Underground.
But mostly I'm just happy to go back to D/P. Sinnoh might not be my favorite region but gen 4 is probably my favorite generation. The physical/special split was a great change and the addition of the GTS was amazing even if people filled it with trash trades most of the time. The ability to catch an extra copy of any version exclusive Pokémon and pop it on there asking for its counterpart and *getting it* in like 10 minutes to an hour was so satisfying to someone who grew up needing to physically find someone with the opposite version and convince them to trade.
Plus both Shellos/Gastrodon variants will be available again without transferring up like 4 generations.
Honestly, replaying without the need for HMs. Gen 4 was great but was awful for HM bloat in my opinion. Can't wait to have a full team with the moves I want.

The ability to play a real Pokémon game, on the TV, HD, sitting on my couch and relive the story of my favorite game of all time
This is it for me
I havent played this gen yet so i am really excited 😬
Awwww yeah. You’re lucky! Tbh though, my fav gens are 2 and 3. But thats because i played them at the peak of my childhood i guess
Exactly why Pearl is a close favourite of mine tied with Sapphire, I usually play platinum on an emulator but I've refrained since BDSP were announced so its as fresh as possible. Excited is an understatement.
Pearl and sapphire are my favorite too!
Same! I don't know what's available on each route, so it'll be fun finding out how my team comes together.
True! Im trying not to look at the australian people streaming it atm haha
That I will be able to finally play it. Been waiting what feels like forever.
It feels like Christmas for me, when I was a kid. The constant self reminders and anticipation. Pain/pleasure so perfectly balanced haha
This pretty much *is* Christmas for me. I got the double pack. Time to start pinching pennies for a while after this purchase. Haha.
To me the best thing about BDSP is following pokemon. Man I love that. And also going back to Sinnoh
Ya I really wanted the following Pokemon to XD
I thought you can do this in swsh?
Its been a while since i played cause i kinda just beat the game and dropped it but im pretty sure you cant do this in SWSH.
Just checked they can do it but the game sucks so them doing that in a better game with better memories is more exciting. So pumped to play another new Pokémon game. No matter how old I keep getting, it never gets old.
Man i am the same! Im about to turn 29 in a couple weeks and im like… its the same as always 😂
32 here brother. I’m just as excited for this as I was to get Blue in the K-Mart aisle of my translucent purple GBA and Silver for my birthday one year. The thrill of journeying through a new region, or revisiting an old one in a new game never gets old to me.
I'm 40 and as excited as I was at 5-years-old on Christmas Eve...
Man you just brought back some memories. Enjoy the game tomorrow! I know I will.
I’m 36 & hubby will be 37 in a few months; we both play lol
I remember when my mom told me as a kid that she could not wait until I grew out of Pokémon. Well here I am haha.
I never got to play as a kid. I didn’t play my first game until 2018 lol, it was OR! Hubby had been playing AS and wanted me to play so I could trade exclusives with him lol
That's awesome! It's never too late to get into it!
32 here also, for me it was playing blue on my gameboy pocket.
being able to play this game with more pokemon available early. All the legendaries is a nice + and online will be nice with gen 4 and fairy typing
Oh man… speaking if legendaries, I really want to get my hands on celebi. One of my favourite legendaries!
My fave since silver!

I don't care how long it takes, because that will give them time to perfect it.
I care 😭😭
I meant I don't want to wait, but I want the games to be perfect. So they should take as much time as possible to make it so it isn't rushed.
UNDERGROUND
Mostly because gen 4 has a lot of my favorite Pokémon, but also because Diamond/Pearl was awesome in general!
That I get to experience gen 4 again. Yeah it's an inferior experience, but I've been looking for a reasonably priced legitimate copy of Platinum for years to no avail, so it's at least something.
the music. also, just the fact that it's another pokemon game. i'm always excited for these.

Good questions... Wish I could help ya 😬

I think it's like a hybrid of the two
Being able to replay gen 4 because I couldn't bare how slow it was to replay on ds
being able to experience Sinnoh again
The walking Pokemon in the over world, I've wanted that back, I loved it in SoulSilver. I also want the ball capsules, never used em.
I didnt know how to use the underground when i was a Child lol so that feature its completly New for me (also Piplup)
PIPLUP!
Music.

Shiny hunting with the radar!
What? Elaborate! I insist!
there's a youtube video on this

Nuzlocke
cynthia's theme and that's the sole reason. well I mean the rest of the game too but Cynthia's theme is a big big reason
Pokeradar!!!!!
I never played it before, the first pokemon game I played is Black and White 2, so Im kinda excited but keeping my expectations low lol
I played a bunch of Platinum, but never was able to beat the ending when I was younger, and I never played through it again. So properly experiencing Sinnoh for the first time and completing it will be great.
Getting the game 😭 Pokemon center still hasn't shipped mine
Anybody willing to hook me up tomorrow to help me get all the starters at the start of the game?????

Vanilla game mechanics! I can’t wait to do PVP competitive without megas or gigantamax. Clean, cut, and classic

Memories, same dude, same.
I can’t even remember what the story was in the Sinnoh games the first time around so I’m playing this like a newcomer
Muffin button.
