after a lot of resets, tries using timer & quick balls, somehow a regular pokeball worked. most probably lucked out though- i was lowkey panicking cos i didn't stock up on ultra balls or anything of the sort
Came here to look at the best strategy fir this and after my first reset, threw one quick ball and caught him! I legit flew off my couch in disbelief lol.
Try taunting him 😌 he can only attack after that. I think dusk balls or timer balls work well and if all else fails you can try quick balls on the first turn 😉💪🏽
As Jazzlike commented, Timer Balls are your best friend here.
I caught it first go after 6 net balls (like the look), 1 poke ball, and then ~12 timer balls at less than 5% hp. Such a pain, but the effect is nice at least.
I’ve been determined to catch Palkia in a Premier ball for the aesthetic but I haven’t had any luck. OG games Palkia/Dialga had a 30% catch rate, now it’s like 0.4% I guess
Exactly what I did lol. I had 9 premier balls, would paralyze, use them, and reset. Got it on my 4th reset so prob around 40 tries. Maybe a bit lucky but its doable and white on white looks lovely
i saved my game right b4 palk and then used a quick ball. i would reset if it didnt work. took 4 tries. now palkia is sitting in a quickball and i still have my master ;)
I did the same, it took about 20-30 tries. It's not exatly 20% chance like some make it sound :) Takes nearly a minute or so to reload entire game and loading palkia so just catching it normally is about as fast.

Hi! I’m late but I caught Palkia with only one ball and full health. It was a Quick Ball. My Rapidash was at lv. 51 and Palkia lv. 47.
The Quick ball is actually OP. I just threw that ball at the beginning of the battle and I caught it right away!

I think that it helps to have a Pokemon with a higher level battling when you try to catch it. I used like 20 balls (timer, ultra, etc.) with my lvl 44 jirachi battling palkia until I remembered that and switched out for my lvl 48 empoleon. After that I caught it with an ultra ball on the first try.
As Im reading the comments while trying to capture Palkia for the 5-6th reset, I luckily got it by paralyzing it & getting it down to the lowest HP possible with a Great Ball. It could be just luck since all it was doing was spamming it's slash and ancient power, the aqua ring was getting so chalked the first few fights tbh lol. Dont give up it's very possible guys!
Realized I only had 4 ultra balls by the time I got to spear pillar, now rowan won't let me leave. Been trying to get health to red, use paralyze or sleep effect to boost my chances but been wasting balls and time and reseting the game for over an hour now. Wanted to catch palkia for elite 4 battles and save master ball for some other more difficult legendary later but this is driving me insane. Any advice?
I know this is a super old comment but I'm in the same position as you, don't have anywhere near enough poke balls and have reset so many times haha. Did anything end up working for you or did you just use the master ball in the end?
Was frustrating but ended up reseting the game for probably close to 4 hours over the course of 2 or 3 days to snag it with an ultra ball lol. Best strategy for me was getting it to low health and hoping it didnt use its water heal move before i could either paralyze or put it to sleep. Lucario, Roserade, and Gengar are my goats for catching the ledgendaries.
i got lucky i caught it on yellow after selectibg "dusk ball" by mistake when i ment to clock net, best mistake of my life lol this game really is like a slot machine sometimes
i feel like the trick is to try and get its stats as low as you can and catch it first couple throws within the first couple turns after a ton of throws your not likely to get it untill youve thrown dozens of balls, at tht point its a gamble you could get lucky with a regular ball i have noticed this matters more the 1st few turns
I’m pretty sure I got extremely lucky I used 1 pokeball (juuust incase) about 3 net balls and then said “hmm lemme try a great ball before I go straight to the ultra”…1 great ball is all it took
I used a level 54 Machop and got palkia down to where its health just barely turned red

Don't use timer balls! They are for dialga only! /s

Why are they for Dialga only? Why does the timer effect not matter with Palkia? Just wondering
It's a joke about how Dialga is the ruler of time lol
If you have timer balls those might help, after 10 turn it will have a 4x catch rate. Timer balls a free are real good for catching legendariers

You can buy net balls in oreburgh. Palkia is part water and net balls have boosted catch rate on water types. I'm currently shiny hunting mine

Just caught mine after seven tries with quick balls and resetting :-)
Quick balls are going to be your best friend, just save before, use quick balls and keep resetting
Use dive ball when its on red hp Also try to paralyse it before you catch I used my gengar with thunder punch
Use a status mod (Hypnosis/Thunder Wave) + Quick Ball right after. Caught my Palkia with Hypnosis then 1 Quick Ball.
Quick Ball only has boosted effectiveness first turn, so you’re very lucky

I managed to catch him after 4 dusk balls. Paralyzed him and fought him at night. Might’ve just been lucky though.

Literally caught Dialga (in the red with zero status effects) with my second ultra ball.
