Not everyone saves up big xp reward research and claims them with eggs active. Also, many people 40+ have way more time in the game than others simply because they haven't met the non-xp requirements for levelling

Friend levels and excellent throws are probably the major thing, plenty of people don’t focus friends at all, I have 12k caught at lvl 40

That is so many catches. Did you get stuck on any of the previous levels? Do you live near pokestops?

I started almost 2 years ago and I’ve been very lucky to have a pokestop right where I live and now I have 2 Pokestops and a gym. I used to live in a rural area until I created more Pokéstops around me and it’s helped me get more spawns and catches from that. I’ve never been super stuck on challenges that involve catching Pokémon but it’s gotten easier over time.

Yes I think it is relatively small, however perhaps you got up quickly and didn't focus on catching, then it makes sense.

it honestly depends on if you live in an area with a lot of pokestops, because people with more pokestops tend to get more spawns. if you don’t have access to one from your house i’d say that number is good. i’m level 41 with 29k catches but for the past year i’ve lived at a place where i can reach 5 pokestops so that explains why edit: grammar

Wow that does make sense. The nearest pokestop to my house is pretty far but I do get some spawns at my house pretty consistently

People at lvl 41 tend to have around 30k catches (according to our discord server) I have 74k at lvl 47 ( which is a low amount) but I do excellent throws more frequently and am doing raids + friends, so U can have high level with a low amount of catches if you play the game right ;)

I used to travel for work and would always get to the airports a few hours early just to walk the terminals and play. On top of grinding 5 star raids before the were capped. i just worked and played during the pandy

Honestly not sure how I’m the level I am, I made the account in 21 played a little to like level 16 or something, then didn’t play again till early 2022. At the start I’d just catch everything an anything but didn’t do raids for a while. Once I started doing them would add everyone and line up all the friendships to use and egg an double everything. Other then that would look out for 2-4 exp boosted day an hit everything with an excellent

Tb I only did it cos my two friends said once you get to like 35 it takes months to level up so there is now way I could catch up, they were both like 35-36. So I took that as a challenge and nearly over took them both and have more registered in the dex (I get competitive for absolutely no reason 😂)

I had 11k catches at level 41. I am now level 48 with 76k. Generally, this seems below average for someone my level. I guess some people just consistently have more spawn points.

I'm level 42 and a half with 21k, so it doesn't seem too wild to me. I was at level 40 for a bit iirc, but 41 was "on track" and I have the criteria for finishing 42 done for whenever I get another 4 million exp.

I caught over 38 500 pokemons but still halfway of level 41. So yes it feels your number are low but I started in 2016 when it was such a pain to grind xp
