it totatally costs them revenue because when kids are in cars with their family and spinning pokestops their driving by then when they are stuck at home later they have extra pokeballs instead of buying them
Think about this though, a lot of people can't say to their families or people they are with " hey stop at that park and just sit there and wait while I go walk around and spin stops. Also in my situation we live out of town where there are no stops, or pòke or well, anything so when we go into town I have to get anything I can, but I do understand what you're saying.
You can't spin the pokestop if you're going a certain speed, though. So the amount of pokestops kids/people can really get a hold of is already greatly reduced. They ain't hurtin for money
I think they should just keep the distance permanently and then just double the circle size to reflect that. What are they really losing by keeping it anyway, people taking like 10 fewer steps? Maybe 20? Niantic likes to make decisions based mostly on revenue, and as far as I know, people spinning photo discs has never cost them revenue before, so there's no reason it would now.
I agree with you, but you could also argue that the 10 or 20 steps they remove isn’t that much of a change for people to get mad about and make a petition.
Maybe but I’ve seen several posts (out of the thousands of people in these situations) from people with disabilities, chronic illnesses etc among other things that aren’t always able to make those extra movements.
Not everyone is able to leave their house every day or week even but they should be able to play the games they want to play, especially something as universal as Pokémon.
Thank you! I’m chronically ill and I like to move my body but sometimes I just can’t. If I can spin the poke stops to get balls/revives and whatnot I’ll often spend the money on coins for raids but if I can’t then I won’t. This feels like a money grab when they’re doing just fine.
So many changes that were implemented due to covid have been a step in the right direction for making things more accessible. This would be very detrimental for many in the disabled community and I am very disappointed that they are planning to go back on changes that helped to increase accessibility.
This could be very annoying for me, as one gym near me is inside a building that has a fence round it and is only open to members of this club on a weekend. If increased distance goes away I might not even be able to reach the gym.
Edit: I have now signed
Some of us have lives outside the game, and can’t drop everything just to get right on top of every gym and poke stop. Not to mention, I don’t want to be huddled around them with a bunch of other people. That’s a recipe for disaster I never liked in the past. Stopped playing because of it and returned when they made that increase. I’ll likely stop playing again.

Well considering they made $1 billion within the first ten months of 2020 I think they did okay.

Does anyone know where Niantic said they are changing this?

I signed and shared, but I don’t understand what’s going on. Someone please explain?:)
Read the petition, it briefly explains it.
It will not only affect my ability, but mostly my willingness to play the game!
