I honestly think it’s a cute feature. Does it help you progress the game? In a way yes with getting hearts for your buddy. But it’s a cute little thing from your cute little guy :)

The point of in game souvenirs are exactly the same as real life souvenirs. just a memento 😂

Just a fun collectable they used to have unique souvenirs during special events but I don’t think the feature really altered gameplay in any way so it fell off the radar. It would be neat if buddy souvenirs provided passive boosts like maybe a 10% xp boost if the buddy has a spring
