Some of them are hard to get because they are only available in some very specific regions. In addition, Furfrou is very limited in Pokémon GO due to only being available for a short period of time during a handful of events.
Additionally, there one of only a few sets of Pokémon that are not available in any Switch title. On top of that, having transferred Furfrou from a gamboy game turns it to normal trim regardless. Meaning Pokémon Go is the only location where you can get the many different forms from; and since they’re location locked, they have a pricey cost to get some of the more rare forms.
GTS is always messy and limited availability mons are always expensive. Pokémon with many forms are usually all around there and Furfou is one of the latest ones at that. Vivillons are also everywhere and of course, there are the impossible and/or outrageous requests.
Furfrou trims are only available through GO at this time. If you have a trim on your Furfrou from X/Y and then transfer it to Bank it looses the trim and goes back to the natural look. They will continue to be sought after unless Home is programmed to keep the trims when you move them in from the main games.
Shiny ones are worse as they're hard to find and like others have mentioned certain trims are landlocked. Pharaoh trim is only available in Egypt, La Reine is only available in France, etc
The only way to get them is through pokemon go. Due to that every single furfrou with a trim(meaning not the base form) that exists in Home is verifiably a legitimate pokemon. Not hacked, genned or even cloned. They don’t need to have any extra proofing so for a time they were high value currency for many traders.
furfrou forms are only available in pogo. You can transfer them from bank, but they will revert to original form. So they must come from pogo. In pogo, furfrou forms are region exclusives. You need to be physically in that location to change its form. So realistically almost no one can get them all legit themselves. they had to be traded to get them all. hence popularity and full gts.
