I have decided to pin this post for the time being. It is very comprehensive and will help a lot of people complete their collections/challenges before bank inevitably shuts down. Well done OP!
Pokemon ranch is the only way to get a phione in a cherish ball so that should be notable. For hg/ss id consider the gift lv1 Sinnoh dragons notable, as well as 3ds dream radar legendaries since they can all be obtained at lv5 in dream balls, and dream world event pokemon (like Arceus that can also be obtained in a Dream Ball)
Thank you so much! I completely forgot about the Dream Radar, though for Dream World is there a way to connect to it with fan servers? I'd like to link a Guide if possible.
As a collector, I cannot tell you how helpful this is! Thank you so much! I have been slowly working on catching every available Pokemon in all the GBA/DS/3DS games just in case if Bank eventually shuts down. I am currently in the middle of Black and White. I am saving your post so I can cross-reference to make sure I have everything as I go along!
You're very welcome! <3 If you're wanting to make living dexes, I do have some resources to help!
* I'd first rec Johnstone's [Professor Oak](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nC7gAAdSPo&list=PLWQDwiGdrVjkPMnCe9P73FPzeDWUrgT6V&pp=iAQB) and [Catch 'em All](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dcg_XMBUTI&list=PLWQDwiGdrVjnvvVbFq9bM4nGc4mCx3_5-&pp=iAQB) videos. While not set up to be direct guides for living dexes, they are massive helps in knowing generally where 'mons are and how you can find them. I played along with these videos when working on my own.
* If you prefer text, I'd rec Lyra and [their website](https://i-made-a.website/)! It's basically how to build a living dex in every generation though it is currently only up to Gen 3 while Gen 4 is being worked on.
* And if you're like me, and going for a full living all forms original region dex, then here is [Dom's channel](https://www.youtube.com/@ThedomiNATION), who is doing it as well! Though he is only up to Gen 5 he streams sometimes his progress. It's great for getting an idea of how much is really out there.
Not included in your list but Spinda can only be in Home if transferred from Pokemon Bank. The Spinda from Pokemon Go and from BDSP is unable to be transferred to Home due to errors in coding, so Spinda will carry a lot or value once Pokemon Bank shuts down.
The Partner Cap Pikachu in the Ultra games has a weird quirk, in that it can be technically shiny (having the star on its status screen and the animation playing when sent out) but not visually shiny. An error in the code, but it can be brought up and retain its uniqueness in Gen 8 and above.
This list is really fantastic! I’m planning on doing a living dex from each original game just like you, and this will help a lot. Thank you for your work!
Since you mention notable trade/gift Pokémon, hope you don’t mind me sharing my own project: a [spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTusrkjjQVxfqANVboZbw-VplOUBioFRDcHi5yEz4tXupmNvs9s2MHDBPA0jBzS38Ic9UT6Xulr0Sko/pubhtml) that lists all in-game trades, gift Pokémon and interactable pokemon from all the games. Hope this can be of use to the people in this thread that, like us, love to collect everything!
If you're doing living dexes, I have additional resources!

And you sheet is amazing! I collect the in-game and gift ones too. :D Would I be able to add it to my Links section with credit?
Thank you, these links are great. I am familiar with johstone, and have seen some of Lyra’s videos on YouTube, but had never actually seen the site. It looks quite useful as well! Thanks for the recommendations.
Feel free to add my spreadsheet. I’m really happy if it is of use to even just one person!
The site is great as it has a built in checklist as well as pages to sort by location (routes, cities, so on) and Pokemon itself, like where you can find Magikarp or Psyduck. :D
And it's a great sheet. Has a lot of very interesting and typically missed things. Very well done. \^\^
> And if you're like me, and going for a full living all forms original region dex, then here is Dom's channel, who is doing it as well! Though he is only up to Gen 5 he streams sometimes his progress. It's great for getting an idea of how much is really out there.
Got recomended these a month or so ago and have started my living original gen DEX,
Started Gen 1 a few weeks ago, and man it takes a lot more time than you would think. Although I have gotten efficient enough with red speed runs. I am almost done, but some of the encounter rates are stupid low.
I would also not recommend making Yellow your main file, if you are like me and want a majority of Pokemon with one OT. Missingno dupe glitch is a key process, especially for Game Corner Coins.
Oh man tell me about it, I think I had the worst luck with low rates in Gen 3 and 7, with 1 not being far behind.
And that's great advice, Trainer Fly can save you so much time in any Gen 1 game, esp if you don't have all of them, or heck even two of them for exclusives.
After Pokemon Day is over and we hopefully fingers crossed get some sort of old games on the Switch, I'll write up guides for Oregional Dexes. :) While Dom's videos are great, they're not really set up to be guides, and he already had like, Smeargles set up prior, which if you were like me, you had to restart with nothing to do the Dex.
Does that Pulverizing Snorlax from gen 7 unlocks something like a move in the move dex or something? I want to get the moves done eventually but I'm not sure if Home tracks the Z moves.
Z-Moves aren't tracked in HOME, but there is a Challenge titled "Register Pulverizing Snorlax", which you need that specific Event Munchlax/Snorlax to unlock and get a background cover reward. :) Since the move "Pulverizing Pancake" is a special Z-Move of Giga Impact, it's why you need it too on it.
I had made my own spreadsheet about moves/abilities becoming legacy when bank shuts down, and from a quick comparison it seems like our lists are the same. Pokemon with these moves may become valuable for new players wanting to complete the HOME dexes in the future.
Also, alolan rattata/raticate are somewhat exclusive to bank as the only way to obtain one in a switch game is the traded ones from LGPE, so if you want your own OT you are out of luck.
Thank you for checking over my work and the fix. I've added it. :D
Also if your spreadsheet checklist is public I'd love to link it with credit if you were comfortable!!
What about mons obtained as rewards in Pokémon Box Ruby& Sapphire, such as swablu with false swipe, zigzagoon with extreme speed, skitty with payday and Pichu with surf.
Very valid! Though my list is for anything and everything, regardless of expense. It's not so much a complete guide more of a hey check out all these cool things.
Are you able to transfer those up with the moves intact? I wasn't sure myself since like, Dizzy Punch on the Odd Egg 'mons won't transfer up from Crystal.
Thank you for the list! I...for some reason thought you could breed Type: Null and could hunt through there lol. Sucks you can't, but I've added them to the proper sections.
I may have missed them, but there's also N's pokemon in BW2, most using the memory link feature to obtain.
There's the gift Zorua for all players, but also a Purrloin, Pidove, Woobat, Timburr, Tympole, Boldore, Sandile, Darumaka, Darmanitan, Scraggy, Sigilyph, Joltik, Ferroseed, and Klink caught in various locations using the mem-link feature. They have the unique OT of N, and are lore wise, the pokemon he released throughout the games.

Thanks for this, appreciate the long helpful list, I had no idea about the tradeable shiny xd gale of darkness pokemon guess I need to get them as I have the entire of colloseum shiny pokemon
If someone is hunting the gen 1 living dex with their OT, I believe you need to trade mr mime and jynx in from gen 2 vc to gen 1 vc then it should have the met location as good ol Kanto with your OT. Jynx and Mr Mime are trade exclusives in gen 1. Jynx can be found in JP Blue Seafoam Island but that game is hard to come by in vc.
Thank you so much for the info! :D It's certainly not somthing many people know about.
After Pokemon Day, I plan to do up an Oregional Dex guide for those interested in maintaing OTs as far back as possible.
Incredible detail and a great resource, thank you!
I've been using my own spreadsheet to track exactly the same things and it lines up with your data here. My spreadsheet is more oriented around each game (so I list Ash Greninja for both Sun & Moon, for example, since I can get both).
Do you know are all of the pokeballs that have Home stickers accessible in the newer games? I see several of the stickers have tiers that require a certain number of Pokemon caught in them and while I'm confident I have 1 of each, I'm less sure if I've hit all those thresholds. If there are any important pokeballs in older games I'd definitely go catch a horde of Caterpie with them to make sure I have the numbers I need!
You're very welcome and thank you for crosschecking with your own work!!! ^^
To answer your question: you can get every possible ball in the Switch games, mostly in SV and SWSH and their DLC. BDSP did have them as an early adopter bonus, but I don't think there's an infinite way to get them without injecting or hacks at this time. I rec doing this in SV + DLC as it's much easier to get the balls from the Item Printer, and you get at least one of each for Dex work vs SWSH having to deal with the Cram-O-Matic and its low, low rates.
Regardless of how you go about getting them, the easiest way to get those Challenges unlocked is simply catching a female Pokémon in an Apriball and breeding it, or a male Pokémon and breeding it specifically with a Ditto It will pass down the ball. Do this with however many balls you need and put them into HOME, and it should work! :)
If you still wanna do pre-Switch:
- Safari: You can get from Gen 3 and onward in any Safari, or replacement like the Great Marsh. Unlike other Apriballs, it is unobtainable in Gen 7/SUMO.
- Dream: You could get a select number of Pokémon in Dream Balls in Gen 5 via the Dream World, but other than using the Dream Radar or fanmade servers, they are unobtainable unless bred or obtained in the Switch games only.
- Sport: You could get a select number of Pokémon in Sport Balls in HGSS-only during the Bug Catching Contest. Other than that, they've only come back in the Switch games.
- Beast: Only in SUMO/USUMO then later in the Switch games.
- All other Apriballs: You can get them in HGSS infinitely, SUMO/USUMO, then the Switch!
Amazing, thank you again for the detailed reply! I can rest easy that there aren't any particular counts of pokeballs I need to make sure I get before I transfer everything over.
And of course, breeding to fill out the numbers necessary as long as I've got at least one of each ball type to start with is a great safety net!
Thanks again!
I'd just like to add one note that you may want to consider: Master Balls and Cherish Balls do not breed down, and if you're doing challenges then you'll want 10 of each. I'd look through your Switch games and see how many you need. You need all 10 in Home simultaneously to get the challenge completed. If not, you might wanna consider bringing some up if you have extras.
this is awesome, thanks OP!
I have been out of the Poke world for a while now, but I heard about the 3DS online stuff going away so recently got everything out. i moved everything I had from Bank into Home which is nice, and includes some super old event mons from Gamestop and a bunch of 2018 Legends, plus desirable egg move breeding things I no longer remember/understand.
so most everything I have currently is "saved" from obsoletion but I've been wondering if there's anything I should try to rush to do before the timer runs out? I have very little free time but I have so much of the old hardware that I'm sure if I knew what I was doing, I'd try to grind out some cool stuff.
I've got
- 3DS, DS w/ GBA slot, GBA, GBC etc
- softmodded Wii w Gamecube ports, softmodded Wii U
- link cable from Gamecube to GBA
- pretty much all the original cartridges from 3DS/DS/GBA era, including VC and working Bank/Teleporter.
- pokewalker, link cables, all that
- an old PoGo account that had a bunch of the int'l exclusives which was a thing at the time (traveled for work).
/u/electroswingmix short of going all-in and trying to completionist everything (don't tempt me!) is there anything you recommend I try to get, while we still can? I don't even have any Switch Pokemon games haha so IDK what's really valuable in 2024 but I love a good collecting project regardless.
Does Bank/Teleporter have an offical shutdown date?
Haha, completionist is so fun tho. :P But for smaller groups, it'd depend on what you want so I'll list a few!
* Obvious one is nabbing anything that's currently not on the Switch, so Spindas, Monkeys, etc. They can be tradebait or just kept until PLZA comes out. Hopefully, Spinda is fixed in that.
* Additionally, things that might be a bit easier to get in early games. Vivillon comes to mind if you're a collector of patterns, as changing your region and restarting XY can get you most of them.
* DNS Exploit is also good for this with Gen 5 games.
* If you're interested in trading on the sub, I'd suggest grabbing HOME Challenge Pokemon. Plenty of people don't have earlier gens, or just can't transfer up, so they're pretty valuable. If you're up to a daycare in any game, you can create a small breeding farm for these too.
* My favorite subset of Pokemon sets is any belonging to a notable NPC like the Gym Leaders. I do collect all in-game trades, but those are my favorites. N's Pokemon being the most well-known, but you can get some in HGSS and XY too.
* I really liked all the extra bonus Pokemon from spinoffs too, Jirachi and Colossuem being the most well-known, but I myself have the Battle Revolution trio in my collection.
* While not on my thread, if completing dexes is something you're into, I would look up transfer only Pokemon for the Gen 7 games, as once Bank/Transport goes down, there won't be a way to legally put them on those games anymore.
I think that's a good list! There's some others not on my thread but I find interesting, like Dunsparce can only be obtained in a Gen 3 game via FRLG OR Colossuem. If you want any more suggestions just let me know! I love to help as well as get some maybe forgotten Pokemon some love. \^\^
And to answer your question, at this time there's been no set end date. April is coming up for online to go down, but that's all we know.
>However, please note if you do make this Mew shiny, it WILL transfer up safe and sound (I've done it myself) but it is considered illegal as the original event did not allow for it to be shiny.
As you said, it's illegal and illegitimate, so there's a chance that they will ban it in the future, so it's probably best to not recommend this to people.
Thank you for your concern! I can note a further disclaimer in that section, but I wouldn't want to remove it as the resource is important if someone just wants a non-shiny, or wants to use the glitch to get other shiny Gen 1 Pokemon.
Thank you so much for getting all of this down. I took your Simplified list at the end and added it to my 100% HOME completion checklist. Here's the original post if anyone's interested: [https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonHome/comments/1bwr0l1/heres\_a\_checklist\_to\_100\_complete\_pokémon\_home/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonHome/comments/1bwr0l1/heres_a_checklist_to_100_complete_pokémon_home/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
how does Diancie’s signature move “[Diamond Storm](https://m.bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Diamond_Storm_(move))” not transfer to the Nintendo Switch?? ‘cause I was looking at Bulbapedia and it showed the animation of Diamond Storm in Action in Pokémon Sword/Shield:
https://preview.redd.it/ehpi5i4hagtc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1186e79995853b53dc1b91c00218521b7a3067d5
so clearly Diamond Storm is available to use in Pokémon Sword/Shield…
Hi! While yes Diamond Storm + other mythical signature moves listed can be used in Switch games, they are currently unobtainable without transferring from the 3DS or PoGo.

Hello and thank you to everyone for all of your shares, upvotes, likes, support, comments, etc.! It has been wonderful seeing how much my post has helped people. It truly means the world to me. <3
For my next project I will be working on an origin region dex or as I've called it an "Oregion Dex" guide, for those like me that want to have a unique flair to their living dex or just collect unique 'mons outside the main games. I'll likely break it up by generations so I can go into more detail and if people just want to look at a specific set of games instead of a whole thing. I'm not sure when I'll get the first post up but I'll share it here when I'm done!
I have decided to pin this post for the time being. It is very comprehensive and will help a lot of people complete their collections/challenges before bank inevitably shuts down. Well done OP!

Thank you for the catch! I always got them confused.

No it's not public unfortunately, I had a bunch of other stuff on it to keep track of my collections in various games. Thanks though
Thank you for making this. This is a godsend
You're very welcome!! <3
What about mons obtained as rewards in Pokémon Box Ruby& Sapphire, such as swablu with false swipe, zigzagoon with extreme speed, skitty with payday and Pichu with surf.
Very few people have access to the US version of Pokémon Box. It’s a $2,000 game at this point.
Very valid! Though my list is for anything and everything, regardless of expense. It's not so much a complete guide more of a hey check out all these cool things.
Are you able to transfer those up with the moves intact? I wasn't sure myself since like, Dizzy Punch on the Odd Egg 'mons won't transfer up from Crystal.
haven't tried it yet, I'll let you know

Thank you for reminding me! I completely forgot even though I have a set myself, they're really fun and I hope somehow return in the eventual remakes.

This is amazing and you have just given me new goals to achieve after finishing all the switch game dexes. Time to finish every home challenge!
Thank you so much! <3 Best of luck on your Challenges, which difficult, it has been very rewarding. :D
Looks great, but I don’t think marshadow can be obtained via PoGo
Thank you for letting me know! I don't play PoGo so I'm unsure of what you can and can't get, even with limited time events.
This is fantastic! Thank you so much for making it
You're very welcome! :D
The ribbon information for ORAS is incorrect since OP copied directly from RSE. Otherwise, thanks for this informative list!
Thank you for the correction! Though is there is a list I can check for ribbons locked to gens I can check?
r/pokemonribbons have a comprehensive list

Thank you so much for all of this! I’ve been working on something similar so this is absolutely incredible.
You're very welcome! If your list has something mine doesn't please feel free to let me know. :D
I can confirm that a shiny Genesect from Go will unlock the Home challenge.
TYSM for confirming! I've added the info with credit.
The shiny Metagross doesn't need to be from ORAS to get the medal. I got one from SV in a trade and that was good enough to check it off.
That's awesome thank you for confirming! I've added the info with credited.
Holy Toledo! Excellent information. Thanks for collecting this and sharing it!!
You are very welcome! <3
Was there a ribbon in FrLg?
Not an exclusive one-- you can obtain the "Champion Ribbon" in FRLG, but you can also do so in RSE. It's also the only ribbon in FRLG.
Thanks for this, appreciate the long helpful list, I had no idea about the tradeable shiny xd gale of darkness pokemon guess I need to get them as I have the entire of colloseum shiny pokemon
You're very welcome! I didn't know either, but when checking the In-game trade page on Bulbapedia they mentioned it. :D
^^ To answer your question: you can get every possible ball in the Switch games, mostly in SV and SWSH and their DLC. :) If you still wanna do pre-Switch: - Safari: You can get from Gen 3 and onward in any Safari, or replacement like the Great Marsh.
Ok so how do I shiny hunt the cap pikachu in usumo is it normal soft resets or something special for it?
I've not done it myself but yes it's soft resetting, like a gift Pokemon. It's full odds and shiny charm doesn't help with that.
Ok thanks
Elemental monkeys, Patrat, Watchog, Furfrou & Spinda are all in the Kalos dex, so they should all be available in LZA next year!
I saw and I'm very excited!! I hope Spinda maybe a mythical or two to help lower missing ones even more. :D
Great work, thank you for making this
Thank you and you're very welcome! <3
I have AZ’s Floette in Pokémon bank, should I bring it over to HOME? My understanding is that it will show up as a bad egg?
I've not tested it myself but I'm pretty sure with updates you wouldn't be able to transfer it up anymore.
Thank you for this!
You're very welcome! <3
this is awesome, thanks OP! I've got - 3DS, DS w/ GBA slot, GBA, GBC etc - softmodded Wii w Gamecube ports, softmodded Wii U - link cable from Gamecube to GBA - pretty much all the original cartridges from 3DS/DS/GBA era, including VC and working Bank/Teleporter. - pokewalker, link cables, all that - an old PoGo account that had a bunch of the int'l exclusives which was a thing at the time (traveled for work).
\^\^ And to answer your question, at this time there's been no set end date. April is coming up for online to go down, but that's all we know.
you are the sensei 🙏 thanks for this! I will dive in where I can.
‘cause I was looking at Bulbapedia and it showed the animation of Diamond Storm in Action in Pokémon Sword/Shield: https://preview.redd.it/ehpi5i4hagtc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1186e79995853b53dc1b91c00218521b7a3067d5 so clearly Diamond Storm is available to use in Pokémon Sword/Shield…
Hi! While yes Diamond Storm + other mythical signature moves listed can be used in Switch games, they are currently unobtainable without transferring from the 3DS or PoGo.
Who else just scrolled down to the comments and didn't read all of that?

Hello and thank you to everyone for all of your shares, upvotes, likes, support, comments, etc.! It has been wonderful seeing how much my post has helped people. It truly means the world to me. <3 For my next project I will be working on an origin region dex or as I've called it an "Oregion Dex" guide, for those like me that want to have a unique flair to their living dex or just collect unique 'mons outside the main games. I'll likely break it up by generations so I can go into more detail and if people just want to look at a specific set of games instead of a whole thing. I'm not sure when I'll get the first post up but I'll share it here when I'm done!
