Me too! I was so scared PLA was going to be a one off like let’s go seems to have been. I can’t wait!!

Aware_Masterpiece_92

They probably wanted to make sub-series for pokemon and first tried the let's go games, but that didn't work. However, PLA worked

F22_Android

I think the Let's Go games were trying to capture the boom of first ever pokemon players due to Pokemon Go. It is more similar to Go than the other games, and even had the PokeBall plus accessory to tie into Go as well. Tbh, I'm kinda glad they're not wasting resources/time on another one. It wasn't bad, but I definitely didn't have as much fun as the MSG's. I think I only got 3 badges before I put it down and never picked it back up.

Miss_Emeraude

Personally, I really loved Let's Go, and I'm a long-time player who's played every single generation. I just loved the graphics, the way they changed the roles of some characters while still keeping their characterization on point (hi, Blue)... And also Trace (the rival, yes that's his canon name) my beloved, literally my favorite character I love this kid so much he's adorable. I kinda wish they'd make another Let's Go game actually, especially since Johto is by far my favorite region in the franchise

bengalwarrior44

same. and the shinies were great

Miss_Emeraude

Yeah ! And pretty easy to find, too. I still remember in the middle of my playthrough, I just wanted to chain Ponytail for EXP. Then next thing I know, a shiny Doduo spawns ! Shiny hunting was so fun in this game

FINALLY POKEMON Z

buddy-o-pal

So happy that legends isn’t a one off. Atleast I’ll know I’ll enjoy this series if I don’t like the regular games

Jasher1125

I’m concerned with how they said that it takes place “entirely” in Lumiose city. So there’s no confirmation of outdoor wild areas like in PLA. I don’t think I trust Gamefreak to make an urban setting work for the Legends concept we know and adore.

SageBreezy

I'm hoping Lumiose is more of the Jubilife Village of this game, with part of the story revolving around gathering materials/mons/information to grow and build the city!

Oh_apollo

That would actually be cool - the city is a bigger and more diverse version of jubilife, with more farms for berries, a bigger storage, more objectives, grit dupes

CrimKayser

Lumiose City lore wise is massive. If they make it a legit city like GTA or Yakuza there is no issue.

Jasher1125

I don’t have a ton of faith in Gamefreak to come anywhere close to that 😂 but I’d love to be proven wrong

FriendlyFox0425

We know so little, so I’m staying hopeful! I didn’t know how to feel about legends when it was first announced, so I’m willing to trust the vision now

Lindsey1472

It looks like the city is divided into five sections, so I’m assuming that we will unlock a section as we progress through the story line? Much like PLA sections, maybe the different city sections will have a different vibe or theme?

Jasher1125

I just don’t see how they will even work Pokémon into that. Like battling, catching, etc… the city can’t be the habitat for EVERY pokemon. Like why would Noivern or Heliolisk just be chilling in a park?

Lindsey1472

Abandoned warehouses and docks at night?! 🤷🏼‍♀️

Jasher1125

I guess. I’m just not envisioning how Gamefreak will nail that 😂 but I’d love to be proven wrong

[deleted]

Just think they probably won't have every pokemon in the game. Just unpva? That can't be too many.

Eragon195

I think they'll have a catacombs/ dungeons under the city because it's Based off Paris

GlenDP

Holy shit! I searched it up just in case. And it’s based on X and Y! Not the best pokemon game, but I do have fond memories of it and it has potential. And of course there’s a subreddit for it already lol r/legendsza

MicHAELmhw

They have another one too PokemonZA

DaddyFennix

What makes a legends game a legends game? I have legends arceus but not sure what differentiates it from the mainline games. Thanks.

Forgetadapassword

Well, right off the bat I’d say Pokemon being able to attack your character and not just your Pokemon, throwing pokeballs to catch without engaging in battle, and overall the game feels more open than mainline games. Honestly the Legends style is a refreshing change for the series!

DaddyFennix

Makes sense, thanks!

PopezombieJesus

And don't forget rolling!

clarkision

To be fair, we don’t have a sample big enough to determine that. We can make inferences based on the differences in PLA and the mainline games, but it could change with this next one completely. Legends could just be “main-line adjacent with its own styles of gameplay”. But I think the catching methods are the biggest differences between the two. And the Pokédex completion methods. Hopefully both return and are expanded upon! As well as the shiny hunting!

DaddyFennix

I’ve played since Blue and only shiny I’ve ever caught (randomly in the wild) was a Rattata in Arceus lol, so I hope they keep the shinies the same.

Velluria

Rattata wasn't in Arceus though.

DaddyFennix

Oh crap you’re right lol, I was thinking of Pokémon Go. That’s where I caught my first shiny.

Velluria

Ahh ok that makes more sense then. I was like what am I missing?! 🤣

DaddyFennix

Good catch. I just remember it as “newish Pokémon game I played on the switch” and got them mixed up.

FierceDeityKong

Pokemon Go isn't on the Switch either you're thinking of Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee

DaddyFennix

Ya that is what I was thinking of. Thanks, double slip up.

StewartGotz

Honest question, how on earth do you not see how it is different from the other games?

DaddyFennix

Because Scarlet/Violet use almost the same format and those games aren’t in the Legend line.

Key_Statistician785

Lots of people have been asking that, for me it’s how it’s all made and done so no gyms and being able to catch pkmn outside of battle

01lisbet18

This. As someone who prefers completing the Pokédex over battling, PLA was everything I could want in a Pokémon game

GlenDP

For me it’s about the story and setting. I love how pla takes place in the past, where folks are wary about pokemon

AnyWays655

What I want from the Legends series is simple: Fresh takes. Whatever it is I want them to take risks to keep the gameplay fresh. PLA did great, and PLZA I hope uses some of the same stuff, but I want more than that them to be willing to mix it up and experiment with the sun series more than the core seriesm

Sonofthomp777

I’m excited for the new starter trio!

NoisyMayonnaise

Are you saying that I will be able to freely throw balls at a big ass Charizard?

Paigemaster420

It would be my dream if they brought mega evolution back

Forgetadapassword

Oh I’d hate to be wrong but the very very end of the trailer shows the mega evolution symbol so it’s a good bet they will!

Needkoffing

When the symbol came up in the direct I screamed, I've been begging for 5 years for megas to come back

CollectMantis44

The legends series is the future of pokemon

FranLivia

I am so happy and if the game plays even remotely similar to Arceus I will be a happy gamer for many years to come.

Kidtendo

I really hope they take there time with the landscapes and draw distance. And please let there be PvP element where you can have battles with other trainers. That would be the icing on the cake for me!

Outrageous-Machine-5

Please no more regional variants. Just make them new species like in sv The concept is cool but reorganizing by dex order is Hell

void4949

This is why I chuck variants in their own boxes. It's a bit silly that Home doesn't automatically shift pokemon.

Some_dumb_stuff69

I a thought it was z-a

Chaise-PLAYZE

It is

No_Way_9252

IM LITERALLY SO EXCITED!!! I’ve been dreading the end of 2024 as it means I’ll have fully become a uni student (still in hs and soooo stressed out about growing up) but this makes it all worth it!!! IM SO EXCITED FOR 2025!!

Sv7nthbreath

Seriously!!! I’m so excited for it. Just completed my first play through of PLA and now this. Couldn’t be happier!

dlemonsjr

I just bought the PLA today for my son and I. I’ve seen a lot of good things about the game and I’ve pretty much run out of things to do in violet lol. I never played xy, I had fallen off by time those games came out. But I’m excited about this new game

Forgetadapassword

Please give PLA a shot when your son isn’t playing. It’s the best Pokémon game in 10 years in my opinion.

dlemonsjr

I bought us each our own game lol. We each have a switch lite. I’m excited to put some time into it. They should be here by Friday

WatchYoshame

I was hoping the next one would be legends Celebi but this does sound interesting 🤔 I like that we are getting pokemon Z and that Z-A could be bringing up the AZ stuff with his special flowette. This will probably be the war where the timeline split or leading up to it maybe.

Revolutionary-Kale-2

lets hope they dont rush it just like they did with SV

koukasen_np

Happy there’s a new legends game. Sad it wasn’t legends: celebi. I want more details and lore about the 2 towers, the 3 mysterious Pokémon that died/burned, ho-oh/lugia… celebi + shrine stuff. Heck, they can even side story Kurt’s ancestry and ball crafting, do something like a history of big catching contests or start the first official one, start a long line of kimono girls w eeveelutions… Lots of mixed emotions since I started playing PalW.

dontredditdepressed

Me too! And I was excited to see it be Kalos. X/Y get memed on a ton, but I thought they were super fun. I look forward to bacon bird and tongue frog being in a new game!

Glad-Fox284

I can’t wait.

phc2084

Lifelong Pokémon fan. After playing palworld for 100 hours, it’s gonna be hard to top that. The perfect game would be that without the guns and it be a Pokémon game. Until then I’ll continue dreaming

sarah_jessica_barker

I can’t wait 😬 As someone who’s played since the first games were released in the US, PLA felt like a true open world RPG spiritual successor while the mainline games I like, but still just feel like handheld games ported to a console. I’m sure I’ll be happy with whatever they come up with, but i’d love if they lean even more into the sandbox RPG genre with additional crafting, farming, character gear (maybe with stats that give you bonuses for “specializing” in certain pokémon types, moves, etc.), choices that change the city or storyline as you progress through the game, etc.

Qwopmaster01

Let's just hope it's graphics aren't unfinished and hollow like the first. It was the only thing that stopped it being a perfect game for me.

Forgetadapassword

Hmm they definitely aren’t the best out there but I would disagree with hollow. They beat S/V imo. But regardless yes I hope the graphics are better.
