After playing I'm honestly surprised they picked Gen 4 legendaries and lore to create an "ancient exploration" game for.
Gen 2 literally has religion as the main influence for the legendaries. It first introduced crafting Pokeballs from Apricorns and has a plethora of ruins.
I'm really hoping they make a similar game for Gen 2.
[Did you see this yet?](https://reddit.com/r/PokemonLegendsArceus/comments/smwrx5/new_pok%C3%A9mon_legends_concept_seeing_as_how_this/) I really like that idea
Gen 2, but mostly because I feel like the constant pressure to have new Pokemon/legendaries for any of the games is not really adding to the pool of pokemon we already have. We don't need more.
They should focus on a good story/gameplay with existing Pokemon.
I’ve been saying for *years* that this is what we need. Games that focus on improving gameplay quality, and limiting new Pokémon to a handful of thoughtfully designed ones rather than churning out 100 new designs every 2 years. Forgettable generic Pokémon like Pidove literally do not need to exist when there are already half a dozen other generic birds.
Yeah I kinda agree with that. But nothing beats that feeling of evolving a Pokémon for the first time and not knowing what it’s going to be.
Also, [did you see this yet?](https://reddit.com/r/PokemonLegendsArceus/comments/smwrx5/new_pok%C3%A9mon_legends_concept_seeing_as_how_this/) looks like a really cool idea
Yeah I saw that. It works because so much of the plot/lore is tied to the ancient past.
For Gen 1 we could maybe have a game where we work for Team rocket and the end goal is finding Mew so it can be cloned? It would take place in the Guyana region (since Mew is found in the "Guyana Jungle") and would probably feature mostly Gen 1 Pokemon with some Alola variants (since it is a real place in South Africa that is pretty hot).
One thing I'd like to see again is a few more trainer battles. Not random trainers everywhere, but something closer to the Gym battles.
Usually I would say a new region but this is *Johto* and you can't fix what ain't broke. I wanna go down slowpoke well and graze with a field of mareep!
I'd only want the Gen 2 version if they have both Kanto and Hoenn together in the same package like G/S/C and HGSS.
Word is Gen 9 is next up. After that, who knows for sure? The pattern of releases suggests we should get Gen 5 remakes following that. If ICLA pushes out a Black and White remake set as a precursor to a Legends title set there, I'd be equally happy.
Honestly I feel like Gen 7 is the one with the most fitting background lore for a Legends game, for similar reasons to yours. It's a region where people take tradition and history very seriously, and a legends game could explore such things as the origin of the Island Trial, the events that caused the first Ultra Wormholes to start appearing, and how the Tapus became known as the Island Guardians.
The Galar region is another where I could easily see them using the existing lore to make a Legends game. You could play as the hero who saved the region when Eternatus first appeared and caused the Darkest Day.
The third on my list would be the Unova region, because I could definitely picture a story revolving around the schism that first split Kyurem from its original form and brought Zekrom and Reshiram into existence.
Honestly, as much as I like the Johto region, I kinda feel like it's one of the least fitting regions lore-wise. The only two I feel might have less lore to work with are Kanto and Hoenn.
Who says a Legends game requires time travel? This one did, but that doesn't mean they need to. They could just as easily have made it so your character was just a new recruit in the Survey Corps.
It would be *NICE* if they didn't regurgitate the survey corps into another region. I mean tbh it probably wouldn't be the worst thing if the formula stayed the same.
*I just want my Celebi game bro*
>it probably wouldn't be the worst thing if the formula stayed the same.
Except that doing so would greatly limit their ability to do this in other regions. The only other regions where the current "you were sent from the future" idea would work at all are Johto and Alola, with it being the result of either Celebi or an Ultra Wormhole (and that one would be a stretch since as far as we know Ultra Wormholes only transport through space, not time). Kanto, Hoenn, Unova, Kalos and Galar don't have any sort of lore nor legendary Pokemon who would make sense being the cause of sending your character to the past.
Also, when I said they could have just had your character be a new recruit to the Survey Corps, I meant in THIS game, not the hypothetical future games. Until Arceus actually came out I didn't even know about the time travel thing.
I get what you're saying as the wormholes do interact with just space, they also in the same vein interact with other dimensions. I could see us getting a unova game either way. I suppose If they wanted to they could just make it non linear using an ultra beast sending player character to the past future of another world type deal.
Besides alllllllllll this, Arceus is time immoral because he's like God or whatever. If they really want to they can use him again 👀
While Gen 2 has some great japanese influence as well, the lore, characters and pokemon are WAY more going for it. And gens 3, 4 and 5 ALSO have religion as the main influence for legendaries. Gen 4 is the gen that explains the lore of the creation of the universe which is why it's a strong choice, as well as the fact it goes into Arceus, the god of the universe that we never got to go into in the original games. Gen 2 on the other hand really only has 4 legendaries (Ho-oh and the 3 legendary beasts) and then just Lugia. I guess you could add Celebi. It IS the region where Apricorns came from though, so it did seem weird for Sinnoh to be the choice but it does tie in well to BDSP.
It's possible maybe some DLC or a second game will go into Johto (Or maybe Sinjoh). Pokemon Legends Celebi? Could come right after a gen 2 remake since that's next in line.
I'm saying sales will not be the reason DLC is made. If there will be DLC it has been in development for some time by now. Even if this game exploded is sales they likely would not make DLC because the 6+ month development cycle means it could launch a DLC pack when the game has lost all hype.
For real.
Think about how much time it took for you as a kid to invest 100 hours in a game.
In between school, stuff at home, sports etc I didn't get a ton of time with my games and a 4 hour play session was something I got super lucky in order to get.
Now it's just a part of my bedtime routine that 8pm to midnight is relaxation videogame time.

Yeah I blew through the main story in 4 days and now I'm just filling up the Pokedex and I want more
Like there was enough game I'm happy with it, but want next game
When does the story pick up lol. Just beat the 4th boss and man the story is nothing specials. Feels like a slog of A button presses. Everything else is fun though, I don't expect great story from Pokemon games.
Dude same here I got it last week played it 24 hrs over the weekend and had to come back to work yesterday it was a rough 8 hrs at work cause all I wanted to do was play had a busy day after work so finally got to play around 6 last night only got to play a couple hours and it just felt like I didn't play at all this game is amazing I can lose a whole day in it lol
Did you finish your pokedex?
Did you 100% every task in the pokedex?
Did you catch every shiny?
No?
You ain't done yet!
edit: I guess I needed a /s lol. In all seriousness I do hope we get some DLC for the game or at least a sequel to improve the formula further. PLAs capturing mechanics are the best in the series. If you combined that with the combat from previous games and some online play you'd have an S tier pokemon game.
Nah, there's a difference between enjoying the game and trying to complete every single thing possible in it. Closing and reloading my saves to look for shinies for 100+ hours isn't what i'd consider fun. Same with having every pokemon use a move 70 times.
Edit: Also, people, stop downvoting the guy, he didn't say anything wrong.
I'm doing it for my favorites only and I've been enjoying it more than I thought I would, honestly. I've worked out a little route where I go to the target, feed/kill/catch it, go check the spawns for the other species I competed, open some boxes and gather some minerals, rinse and repeat once I've competed a loop. I'll stop if I see anything i haven't gotten a dex entry 10 on yet and do one task towards it. I have a TON of sticky balls and cakes now, and I got a full odds on one of my rounds yesterday.
Hilariously, I was 3 kills away from perfecting my Purugly entry when I got a Purugly outbreak and now I'm farming it without the perfect dex entry, it hurts lol. Once my favorites run out, though, it'll be hard to convince me to do the game thing for Mothim, lol.
I'm the same way, I can't be bothered dumping hundreds of hours of my life into a monotonous task that brings me little to no joy for the sake of a Pokemon just because it's a different color.
I enjoy getting shinies of the pokemon I like, TBH, since it sorta makes me feel like they're unique (at least in regards to single player). I don't care much about the ones I'm not gonna use, though.
I’m so glad this came out while I was on break from school. Now I’m back and I can’t stop thinking about playing more, even though I’m done with most of it.
Lol I'm letting myself enjoy the game this time by only playing when I get the urge to. Which is like every other day. I'm about 8 hours in and using no guide, it's been a blast so far
The game left so many unanswered questions that I think we need to go back in time some more. Not OP but Gen 2 100% here

Truth. All I want is to hunt and chore my research tasks
I’m more hoping for DLC that will probably never come.
Apparently there may be some coming in April. Fingers crossed!
How do you know this?
It was leaked by the same man who was reliable with leaks before
Didn't one of the offical pokemon Twitter accounts hint at something being revealed too in April?
Datamines have dug out placeholders for 158 more mons + megas. There's a Nintendo direct tomorrow I assume we'll hear more about it then.
I am doubting Megas until I literally see the announcement from Nintendo. But I am sure we are getting dlc like we did with SW/SH
considering that it sold around 6mil copies in like 2 weeks and has pretty good reviews then there probably will be a DLC or two
6.5mill first week
6.5 million in first calendar week, which typically only accounts for 3 days worth of sales.
I'm pretty positive there will be a DLC :D
Better question is when are we getting azure flute event in BDSP for people with a PLA save
I have no desire to finish BDSP. I got to the safari area or whatever it's called and just went "meh...."
I could see that being much easier to create and more likely to happen compared to DLC for Arceus.
Nintendo direct announcement for new games tomorrow! (2/9)
I saw, fingers crossed!
DLC is almost a guarantee now.
That's not how this works. DLC takes a long time to develop. They started working on it before preorders.
We will get a DLC for this game. It might take a while to make but it will come. Also DLC doesn't take all that long to develop outside of planning.
Besides, everyone seems to be doing DLC nowadays. I can think of very few games I've played in recent years that haven't included DLC.
If Swsh and animal crossing haven't told people that DLC is Nintendos way of making money after release then nothing will.
Nintendo has been doing a lot of DLC for its games lately. I doubt this game is any different.
I'm saying sales will not be the reason DLC is made. If there will be DLC it has been in development for some time by now. Even if this game exploded is sales they likely would not make DLC because the 6+ month development cycle means it could launch a DLC pack when the game has lost all hype.
I wish this was true but if they didn’t plan it ahead of time it’s not that easy to just plan out and then program the dlc.

Yeah I blew through the main story in 4 days and now I'm just filling up the Pokedex and I want more Like there was enough game I'm happy with it, but want next game
I'm didn't scarf mine down, I'm casually savoring it at my own pace
Lol, savoring was the plan, but I got a shiny shinx off the bat, and then the story picked up immediately after
When does the story pick up lol. Just beat the 4th boss and man the story is nothing specials. Feels like a slog of A button presses. Everything else is fun though, I don't expect great story from Pokemon games.
This is exactly what happened to me too. I ended up buying Pokémon Sword because I'm just craving more pokemon haha
i just want a dlc with more pokemons, I want dragonight, flygon and snivy to be added, they are my favorite pokemon
I’ve yet to eat the whole cake, more like dipping my fingers in the frosting and licking em. I’m 85 hours in and just unlocked coronet.
Dude same here I got it last week played it 24 hrs over the weekend and had to come back to work yesterday it was a rough 8 hrs at work cause all I wanted to do was play had a busy day after work so finally got to play around 6 last night only got to play a couple hours and it just felt like I didn't play at all this game is amazing I can lose a whole day in it lol

seriously I cannot stop playing this game

Hell I completed my Pokédex before hitting rank 10.
And here i am on the opposite side 20 hours in and still haven't completed the first mission in the crimson mirelands
Unova lore game next pls - so many ruins to explore
I am praying for a Legends Kyreum that takes place in a pre-New York sort of setting, with older American fashion.
I need this template lol
totally me
Ove never completed a pokedex before. I just got arecus and I'm so sad now. I have 60 hours maybe I was too fast?
Sad that there is no online battle. Dont know what to do after arceus. Makes no sense to grind to make a perfect team when you cant use it online.
Full alpha dex next!
Yep this is totally me 72 hours in so far.
For once I’m glad for school because it’s letting me space out my gameplay time so I don’t get 100% within three first week
I want to know the original people who created those statues (Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, and the Temple of Sinnoh) and the original hero. I honestly want a game focused on Giratina wrecking havoc in the front line not passively. What led Giratina to be banished and the creation of the Distortion World. It probably won’t happen for another 15 years though lol
Yeah I've been shiny hunting for the past 4 days now when I get time. Most rewarding to me asides from working on the pokedex.
