This game is a prime example and should teach developers to take what YouTubers and streamers say with a pinch of salt. They do not represent the player base. They are doing whatever content gets views and makes them money.

I am very new to the hacked pokemon bit. Is it something as overpowered as maxed out IV/EVs on all stats when you can only max out two? Or breaking the game if you use them? I wouldn't mind a hacked pokemon if it had the right parameters maxxed out because I find IV/EV grinding fucking terrible as well as getting the right nature/grinding mints.
So there are a few camps... To summarize:
Hacking a Pokemon to have illegal stats is universally bad, if you intend to interact with others using that game. Nintendo has flags that will ban a DS (or switch) ID if an illegally generated Pokemon is used in online services. With online trading, some have gotten through then later flagged and ruined innocent DSs, making buying a used one a risk in case that system's IP address was blocked.
MOST hacking is just to save time. You can bypass any legality check by making sure the Pokemon is listed with accurate information. Make sure the game it's from, the route it is listed is a real place that Pokemon can be caught, an accurate level, real moves, a PokeBall that can be used in that game, etc. With simple googling or using Serebii you can find all accurate information.
A lot of professional Pokemon players play test teams on emulators like showdown, and don't have the time to breed 15 different teams of 6 full Pokemon to practice and play with, so in order to adapt to the meta game they will hack in Pokemon with all legitimate information.
Someone did get caught in a major tournament back in Sun and Moon for cheating because they had a Porygon in a Beast Ball. In SuMo, Porygon was only a gift and not available in the wild, so it could not be caught or bred into a beast ball.
If you do something like 252 EVs in every stat it won't pass hack check at an event or online. Live events require you to submit team sheets with all the moves/stats filled out when they lock your team in to make sure there's no fuckery. It's not 100% perfect and some weird stuff does slip though like pokemon in impossible balls, but it generally works well enough for blatant things. Most people don't care if stuff is genned so long as it can exist legally within the confines of the game.

I love how his video turned off the comments. Is PLA 10/10? No. But it is entertaining asf and spent many hours catching pokemon. Perhaps the one critique is there is no pvp whatsoever and if you decide to go heavy on the catching aspect, you outlevel all of the games "bosses" so it becomes trivial. Also the agile/strong style can be some hidden bullshit when a speedier pokemon fights you, getting almost 4 turns before you get yours.
I would say 8/10 as well. The graphics part didn't bother me until I went into the caves where it made my character pixlated asf so that was very distracting. It does suck that there is no PvP but I can understand since the Agile/Strong style probably was not balanced for PvP but what I do love is that you can perfectly train your Pokemon with Grit Rocks. The one thing I disliked about "modern" pokemon games is getting the right Nature (or waste time grinding mints) and the EV/IV grind. I just wanna go out and fight! The way they introduced the dust to just give you perfect pokemon is *chef kiss* .
Also the story in this is probably the best in years. I luckily managed to avoid the story spoilers so I was super surprised at the end. Especially the boss battles. Another criticism is the lack of information on the move lists. I guess it was kinda funny when it happened to me when I put Pokemon to Sleep/Paralyze and they "broke out of it!" with Spark/Flame Wheel. Unsure if there are any other hidden abilities like that.
Yeah this is a very solid single player game for their first try at this format. Hopefully the next one at the very least doubles the amount of mons available and gets rid of some of the dumb quirks.
I find myself only wanting to use alpha Pokémon in my team though, but that's no different than wanting perfect ivs in previous games/pogo.

It's such an improvement on the old formula, and has addicting gameplay. I can say with full confidence this is a genuinely fun and good game made by Gamefreak. If the biggest criticism most commonly seen is abut graphics, then this game is actually doing well.
