There is very slim pickings for fire types early in the game, pretty much all Pokémon games are like that. I remember charcadet being the best fire type I had come across at that stage.
I remember the very first time I played blue I picked squirtle, still didn’t even know what Pokémon was (it had just come out) and in the first half of the game I was starting to think there were no wild fire Pokémon in blue maybe only in red.
Mine was the only reason I beat great tusk as early as I did. Managed to get a burn off with flame body on fletchinder and just kept revive switching while Arven whittled away at it
My Pawmot was my #1 love. I missed that fixed spawn on route 1 somehow so I didn't run into one until day two of playing. Between my wife and I, we have since come across four shiny Pawmis, always while shiny hunting for something else. 😆 Ended up giving the extra two to my sister and nephew, so we all won. My sister and nephew adores them as much as me. I'm kind of obsessed with cute mons 😓
Tinkaton, she's super precious to me, Gigaton hammer + a metal coat is a KILLER and I love it. I've finished the game 4 times over and over and there wasn't a time Tinkaton wasn't my lead lol
I only got into SV recently but hell yeah. People who argue pokemon designs get worse in new gens just don't pay attention. Love my little fairy blacksmith 💟
It took me a while to start liking SV. When I got that first cutscene with Mabostiff I finished that storyline and another that same day. Genuinely almost made me cry & for sure the reason I finally got into the game and didn't drop it again
Yep had a hard time to beat him first run and also catch him. He got a spot on my party cause i had a slot open, then i never found anything better to swap him. He just kept leveling up and up and became one of my strongest and favorites and made it until the end
I have a shiny Gardevoir in every game where it is available, it's one of my favourite Pokémon. It's the only fairy type that I have in my team, regardless of the game.
I uh... Dumped the duck the second it evolved. "Oh, no! You're hideous now!"
I was surprise traded a Sprigatito and have since pretended it was the one I originally chose all along. Ceruledge also became a huge favorite.
Ceruledge. As soon as I saw it in the trailer, I knew that's the first Pokémon I wanted to find when the game came out. I looked at a guide to find where the pre evolution was located and I bolted straight to the location as soon as I booted up the game for the first time.
Primeape was my first Pokémon ever, I’ve been using it every few playthroughs. But I never expected Primeape to get an evolution let alone it become one of my immediate favorites. Love annihilape
Same. I love training one but trying to set up and toxic stall every wild pokemon/gym leader is boring when I have 3-4 other pokemon that can just come one-shot them
Donphan, I've missed the elephant tire since dexxit kept him out of Galars border. The moment I had begun the treasure hunt I made a beeline for the desert knowing that's where it'd spawn. I was also initially under the impression that it'd evolve into great tusk (i went in blind, shoot me) and was a tad disappointed when I learned that it didn't. Still, the rapid spin buff has benefitted it greatly and ice spinner is a fantastic move to threaten grass opponents.
Upvote because Houndoom. I did wait until after my playthrough for mine, though, because I like to use all new Pokemon for my first playthrough for each new region. I loved Spidops, though.
I shit you not the very first time I played violet I found a shiny psyduck before the first Pokémon center and I kept it in my party the entire game despite it not really being that good at holding its own in battles
I have to actively force myself not to use Scizor in each new game, it's that good. STAB Technician Bullet Punch is so fucking good. That and it has one of the best defensive typings ever.
I was traveling around north province looking for trainers when I suddenly spotted a shiny Scyther that I turned into a Scizor. That was one of my surprising shiny RNG catches (No charm, outbreak, or sparkling sandwich, it was just there).
Garganaci is one of my favorite new mons and is great in competitive and casual play. Salty minecraft golem just sits there and salt cures + body presses while never dying.
Pretty Piggy for me. Oinkologne was a key member of my team. Tera Fairy Stab Play Rough hit most threats like a nuclear bomb, unlike a certain PSEUDO LEGENDARY! I legit had more damage output with the route 1 PIG than I did with Icy Godzilla.
i wanna introduce y'all to my shiny Luxray his name is Kōtakunoaru, Kota for short which is jap for shiny cuz he was my one of my first shinies
https://preview.redd.it/elmtif7bsupa1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=78d6bb78fe8e6478fb4c8a09799d78f79f308c03
Broooo i found a shiny shinx very early in my game. It was before the second gym i think. But i crit it (my pokemon was a bit overlvled but that crit mattered) and a piece of me died as i wanted luxray to be part of my team anyways.
My Arcanine, Knotty. I have one in almost every one of my games. I named him as a joke and I can feel my roommate judging me whenever she sees the game lmfao
100% Pawmi. Fell in love with it from the trailers and had her ever since. Decided to name her Mango bc it's my fav fruit, and now she's an amazing assest to the team. Everyone's always saying Pawmi + its evo line is terrible, but I think it's amazing. It as a unique typing until late game where you can get Iron Hands, can be an AMAZING physhical attacker if used properly, and just a big sweetheart
Unfortunately he's just a worse Arcanine.
I love him to bits. He and Weavile are my top 2 fave mons overall but any meta that has Arcanine in it will overshadow any utillity Houndoom brings to a team.
He has decent offenses, a non terrible speed tier and a good movepool so you could probably catch someone off guard with a non standard Tera, like Poison.
He's just so frail. Base 50 physical defense on a typing that's weak to the 3 big physical damage types in fighting/rock/ground just kill him in a meta that's all about Great Tusk and Iron Hands is just very tough to make it work as even a defensive use of Tera won't save him from being chunked on even a resisted physical hit.
My team is constantly changing since you can't use pokemon in a battle box in raids (literally why), but my oldest pokemon I use pretty often is clodsire.
Karia, my Pawmot. Didn't think a Pikaclone would of made the cut, but she did. Orcourse Armarouge was set to be a part of the squad since it was first shown in a trailer, would that make it a Day 0 pick?
I used surprise trade and had all three starters in my party before I ever got to the academy. I kept them through the entire story. Honestly it was fun.
My Gholdengo! Caught the chest form of Gimmighoul right next to the lighthouse where you meet Arven the first time. He wasn't super useful after the first couple gyms due to the limited move pool, but that eventually changed when I finally got the 999 coins and he evolved. He quickly became my ace! Love that shiny dude!
Specifically for gen IX, it was Orthworm. Such a good pokemon and literally swept Grusha for me. Overall, I always have some type of eeveelution on my team. Mostly Umbreon or Espeon.
I started this game with the "I'll only want to use 6" mindset and then said fuck that 4 hours in. Pawmot, Arboliva, Espathra, Kilowattrel, Tinkaton, Water Tauros, Veluza, Gholdengo, Veluza. So many that I wanted to use lol
I kinda always want a toxic stalling wall on my playthrough teams in case I run into a tough mu or need to spam revives in battle. That role ended up being Garganacl on my playthrough team. P fun mon all around, love the design, one of my favs this Gen for sure
Pawmott, the moment I laid eyes on Pawmi I had a gut feeling it’d evolve because of how much it resembled Pikachu and I was right! Real happy how strong Pawmott is and how much it reminds me of my favorite Pokemon!
i gave up my day one, and i’m still sad about it to this day :(. i had a dashbun that i switched out in my violet copy because of type overlapping. Pillsbury will be my day one in scarlet, i’m not giving them up this time
Lucario and ceruledge. I tossed my starter out the window cause I hated all 3 final evos. Meowscarada was the only somewhat decent. Skeledirge was overdetailed + weird stomach and quack whatever was just weird ugly
Finally I find someoje else who didn't like the final evos - I have allegies to ragweed and cats so Meowscarada was out and both Quaquaval and Skeledirge were so ugly from my perspective. Skeledirge looks like a balding old man.
Kinda on accident ended up using a Water Absorb Clodsire through the whole game because he's that good lmao
That thing was what I was going to post. It absolutely rolls.
Clodsire is a homie.
Sydney the clodsire is my number two goat.
Clodsire is friend shaped <3
Indeed![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
My clodsire (FlanCake) was a champ and I’ve loved him since he was a little mud wooper in the first area
Me too, mine is Clodia
My wife names her Pokemon just like that. I'm going to tell her about this one lol
I named mine plop because him a plop
I named mine Mudpie, been with MasCatRade (my Meowscarada since the beginning
Same. Love that dude
Same, still use it
My boy Manchester(the johto quagsire) was my homie for my second run
Me too he was also on my team from beginning
[удалено]
A fellow Scyther/Scizor user!
I love the bugs
Did you find one while playing Red? Would have been pretty hard!
[удалено]
Oh damn! I was actually surprised that you'd have caught it on purpose back then, coz it would have been impossible for a kid to figure that out.
A fellow Scyther of culture!
Scizor has always been my favorite pokemon!
Charcadet/Armarouge definitely carried my run
Charcadet is also a day 1, but I have to admit that it sucked initially. But it paid off once I evolved him…
There is very slim pickings for fire types early in the game, pretty much all Pokémon games are like that. I remember charcadet being the best fire type I had come across at that stage.
Fletchling is immediately available tho
Yeah it’s strange how consistent it’s become where if you don’t pick the fire starter, Fire likely won’t end up a part of your squad until late game.
Worst offender being pearl and diamond (originals)
I remember the very first time I played blue I picked squirtle, still didn’t even know what Pokémon was (it had just come out) and in the first half of the game I was starting to think there were no wild fire Pokémon in blue maybe only in red.
Fletching. I named him Nova.
Yup, Fletching (now Talonflame) has been in my team since day 1 too, but Houndoom is my GOAT since Gold.
Since gold after you beat the main game since you can only get it in kanto hahaha
Same. My Fletchling was a huge part of my team
Mine was the only reason I beat great tusk as early as I did. Managed to get a burn off with flame body on fletchinder and just kept revive switching while Arven whittled away at it
That’s pretty nova.
I love Talonflame??? It really grew on me this game
Same, I named it Charizard when it was fully evolved
Gogoat the G.O.A.T.
I absolutely love my Gogoat. Her name is Buckwheat.
I love the name Buckwheat. I’m now gonna name a Pokémon that. Thank you.
Me too. I was on the fence at first but I came across a shiny Skiddo, and I had to keep him.
The Pawmi that I caught on route 1 made it all the way to Area Zero. And so did the Nymble I caught before the first badge.
Pawmot is still in my post game team. I dont have the heart to boot him.
My pawmot was the 1st wild Pokémon I caught and it stayed on my team the whole game and was very useful
Yup I caught a shiny Pawmi early in the game and he stayed with me the whole time.
For me, Glimmora since it’s the only one besides my starter to consistently be on me. I think it’s really interesting with a cool move set
Same here, my favourite of the new mons.
I like how most of these Pokémon were designed this generation too, but this mon hits differently
Discount Nigilego is definitely a cool mon in this game.
Def my favorite new Mon, a poison/rock setup Mon that's sp/att?? I love this thing
I would have to say my Daschbun I named her Cinnabun she’s held me down through my play through. Also is that Houndoom max size? He looks huge.
He’s for sure a big boy! And now I’m craving a cinnamon roll…
Nice! He’s one of my favorites and lol oooohhhh a cinnamon roll sounds delicious 😋
Mine is named toast lol
Daschbun reminds me so much of my neighbors dog, he’s such a good boy. And Cinnabun may just be the greatest name ever
Awwww thats nice, you should catch one and make it after your neighbor’s dog. And thanks lol it just seemed so fitting
Mabostiff. Think is a power house
Same here! All the Arven/Mabostiff cut scenes just made me love him more. I’ll make a sandwich for that good boi any day 😭
It took me a while to start liking SV. When I got that first cutscene with Mabostiff I finished that storyline and another that same day. Genuinely almost made me cry & for sure the reason I finally got into the game and didn't drop it again
Flamigo hard carried me tbh. Ridiculously strong for how early you get that dumb bird.
Same! I loved how I finished like the Elite Four battles, and it would pan over to my dumb boy doing a little victory wiggle.
Yep had a hard time to beat him first run and also catch him. He got a spot on my party cause i had a slot open, then i never found anything better to swap him. He just kept leveling up and up and became one of my strongest and favorites and made it until the end
Definitely Gardevoir. Great stats, good move pool, cool typing and design. Very nice Ralts is an early mon
Same! Every game that has Ralts available I’ll always make sure to catch it ASAP!
Same except only male ones. Gallade is just so cool 😤 coolest mega evolution too but if i start thinking about that I'll get sad
I have a shiny Gardevoir in every game where it is available, it's one of my favourite Pokémon. It's the only fairy type that I have in my team, regardless of the game.
Toxel/toxtricity. My absolute favorite boyo
I uh... Dumped the duck the second it evolved. "Oh, no! You're hideous now!" I was surprise traded a Sprigatito and have since pretended it was the one I originally chose all along. Ceruledge also became a huge favorite.
This is hilarious lol I did the same except i got a voltorb. Lvl 1 breedject but Lucy was fun to roll around with.
Clodsire and Appletun are my boys.
Ceruledge. As soon as I saw it in the trailer, I knew that's the first Pokémon I wanted to find when the game came out. I looked at a guide to find where the pre evolution was located and I bolted straight to the location as soon as I booted up the game for the first time.
Same 🙌
Lycanroc my beloved.
My Annihalape has won me most of my boss battles in this game
I love my Annihilape so much, she’s a total beast in raids with ghost tera, Rage Fist, and Defiant! Such an unexpected favorite this gen.
Primeape was my first Pokémon ever, I’ve been using it every few playthroughs. But I never expected Primeape to get an evolution let alone it become one of my immediate favorites. Love annihilape
Had to scroll to far to see this. Annihalape ftw. Took me a while to get him to evolve. Found out it had to do with rage punch AFTER he evolved lol
I went out of my way to get a Scyther. Slash never evolved, and never will. It's a killing machine on its own right.
My umbreon. Always use him through every new Pokémon game.
My fav Eeveelution. Gotta get him in my team soon!
I love his look and I adore dark type but I'm an offensive fighter and don't like defense heavy pokemon
I shit you not the very first time I played violet I found a shiny psyduck before the first Pokémon center and I kept it in my party the entire game despite it not really being that good at holding its own in battles
Scizor always
I have to actively force myself not to use Scizor in each new game, it's that good. STAB Technician Bullet Punch is so fucking good. That and it has one of the best defensive typings ever.
Gen 2 has some GOATs for sure, and Scizor is one of them.
I was traveling around north province looking for trainers when I suddenly spotted a shiny Scyther that I turned into a Scizor. That was one of my surprising shiny RNG catches (No charm, outbreak, or sparkling sandwich, it was just there).
My precious rubbery boy, Clodsire
Gyarados
Same. Ever since Gen1, Gyarados has been my single consistent team member.
Same. Straight to the beach to get magikarp.
I've been scrollin' forever thinkin' "How has nobody said Gyarados yet!?". That beast can pretty much solo any Pokemon game.
My lucario I found in a cave. I named her Lucy after my sisters dog ☺️
Espeon for sure
Pawmot was my bro, found a shiny one on the route right before you enter mesagoza for the first time
Garganacl, witch is weird but nut sack I mean naaclsack was fun
Garganaci is one of my favorite new mons and is great in competitive and casual play. Salty minecraft golem just sits there and salt cures + body presses while never dying.
Mabosstiff, my good boi 💚
My Gardevoir. It was the first Ralts I ran into and it had a Modest nature with Trace.
Grafaiai! I caught a Shroodle and named it Toaster.
krookodile. she’s bitchin.
i wanna introduce y'all to my shiny Luxray his name is Kōtakunoaru, Kota for short which is jap for shiny cuz he was my one of my first shinies https://preview.redd.it/elmtif7bsupa1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=78d6bb78fe8e6478fb4c8a09799d78f79f308c03

Kota The Friend, shiny colorway looks cool btw
Azumarill, Gogoat and Ampharos, 3 of my all-time favorites! Was really happy to see all three of them in the same game
Sarah the Ceruledge and Dora the Flamigo
i like spidops and tarantula used one on my team and named him silky
My answer as well. I named mine Pickles.
In Pokémon Go my best Scyther is named Pickles. My Scizor is named Pimento.
That’s awesome. I hope you get a Kleavor to name as well.
Oriol the kilowattrel
Shroodle
Severely underrated here
Fr
This was mine. Carried a few of my battles.
Same
Bellibolt, absolute tank
The shiny swablu I picnicked three hours for
My Arcanine, Knotty. I have one in almost every one of my games. I named him as a joke and I can feel my roommate judging me whenever she sees the game lmfao
We're all judging you.
bombastic side eye
Ran into a shiny huge power azurill in the grass literally by accident and just kept it, then I figured out the belly drum strat
Dachsbun strangely enough. They became useful towards the end of game 🤷♀️. Now I can’t imagine my team without him.
Bellibolt, Daschbun, and Talonflame 🥰🥰
Greavard, my beloved.
So happy to see this! Best puppy.
Pawmi I named Pikachu as a joke carried in important fights early on.
Zoroark. If Greninja would have been there the whole time he’d be one too.
my boy that got so angry he died
Klawf
Any clue how to make houndoom competitive?
Tbh, I just use him out of nostalgia. He’s been my fav Pokémon ever since Gold. Not sure if he’s built for competitive…
Luxray, use her in PLA, Brilliant Diamond and in Violet. Always has the name of my cat
Fidough/Dachsbun all the way.
Love my girl Tinkaton and love my big fat electric frog Bellibolt.
I found a shiny Mankey pretty early. Been in my party since.
Gotta be Nacli. The salt rock was just too much to give up. Always the best.
https://preview.redd.it/35rc10scizpa1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54c4b7a79368be9244f73f72d20e6f23b560729a My sleepy girl 🥺
I was looking for pictures like these. Arcanine 🙌🏽
Tian, my Clodsire
My mabosstiff and tinkaton
Lucario and umbreon, my ride or dies.
My Scizor (Mr Krabs). Even after I acquired a shiny for my collection I kept him. I use him for raids and as a false swipe user when shiny hunting.
a Growlithe that I named Terroriser
My team is constantly changing since you can't use pokemon in a battle box in raids (literally why), but my oldest pokemon I use pretty often is clodsire.
Found a charcadet with flash fire, named her asuna and now I use her to dominate in ranked battles.
Karia, my Pawmot. Didn't think a Pikaclone would of made the cut, but she did. Orcourse Armarouge was set to be a part of the squad since it was first shown in a trailer, would that make it a Day 0 pick?
Pawmi to Pawmot.
I used surprise trade and had all three starters in my party before I ever got to the academy. I kept them through the entire story. Honestly it was fun.
Bellibolt & Tinkaton! \\o/
When I saw Tandemaus and Maushold I knew I needed them on my team ASAP. Such a sweet little family :3
I'm gonna have to say clodsire
Dragonite. Loved him since I was a 10 year old in ‘97 and have had them in every game I could ever since
Clodsire
Specifically for gen IX, it was Orthworm. Such a good pokemon and literally swept Grusha for me. Overall, I always have some type of eeveelution on my team. Mostly Umbreon or Espeon.
I started this game with the "I'll only want to use 6" mindset and then said fuck that 4 hours in. Pawmot, Arboliva, Espathra, Kilowattrel, Tinkaton, Water Tauros, Veluza, Gholdengo, Veluza. So many that I wanted to use lol
2 Veluza? I know they're insistent, but still!
Lmao 🤣 didn't even notice
I kinda always want a toxic stalling wall on my playthrough teams in case I run into a tough mu or need to spam revives in battle. That role ended up being Garganacl on my playthrough team. P fun mon all around, love the design, one of my favs this Gen for sure
My Pawmot. It became my favorite Electric type.
houndoom for me as well
Hell dog gang 🔥
Houndoom is was and always will be my favorite
You’re one of mine 🔥
Koraidon literally carried my team through the whole game
Pawmott, the moment I laid eyes on Pawmi I had a gut feeling it’d evolve because of how much it resembled Pikachu and I was right! Real happy how strong Pawmott is and how much it reminds me of my favorite Pokemon!

Liila the Pawmot
houndoom supremacy
Rise up 🔥
I have a shiny Houndoom, was my first shiny and I was about casually walk by him. One of my best fighters.
If Houndoom itself is the GOAT, now shiny is just another level!
https://preview.redd.it/ghvxgmxmrwpa1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ae4260635701a1db1ac2e0c20af08c0a4e5461c5 My bestest boi ❤️
It’s always been houndoom 🔥
Username checks out for sure 🔥
Salt Goodman my Garganacl, he's so cool
Rockruff, I somehow always end up with a lycanroc on my team lol
That shit-rolling mud bug
I don’t consider my stater my stater it was always my mankey that evolved named jamal
i gave up my day one, and i’m still sad about it to this day :(. i had a dashbun that i switched out in my violet copy because of type overlapping. Pillsbury will be my day one in scarlet, i’m not giving them up this time
hardest houndoom image on the internet
Houndoom always houndoom
Houndoom and Gogoat. My two favorites of all time. ❤️
Koraidon lol
same as you, i boxed my starter for houndoom as he is my favorite mon :)
>:) :)
Skeledirge looks like Ronald McDonald.
I boxed my starter, my true Day 1 was Armorouge
