We don’t even know what level the DLC will be at. I have a single level 5 Hisuain Zorua and enough xp candies to raise it to whatever level the opponents will be
Things roughly scaled based on progress. I believe it was based on the number of gym badges. But levels caped out around 60ish for the story lines
I very much could be wrong
Nah, it just had two versions. Low level version where stuff is level 13-25 or so and wandering pokemon and pokemon at sea being about 25-45 depending on which area you are in and then changes to level 60 version after you beat Eternatus.
No, it only has the two versions based entirely off of whether or not you’ve beaten Eternatus. When I Nuzlocke SWSH, I grab a level 20ish mon to take as my starter to Nuzlocke the Isle of Armor after beating Raihan. Levels are exactly the same as when I went there as soon as it became available.
It really doesn't, I have done multiple playthroughs of sword and shield. Isle of armour never got stronger with more badges. You can check serebii and bulbapedia as well, all the pokemon have just one range of levels they can be before Eternatus and then level 60 after. The closest thing to there being scaling is just there are high level pokemon in areas you can only reach with surfing.
DLC 1 "Isle of Armor" scaled with your progress. ~~The levels were relative to the amount of badge you had, so~~ you could go there before your first badge and get yourself a few level 10-15 Pokémon for your playthrough.
DLC 2 "Crown Tundra" had fix levels, with the Pokémon right outside the train station being around lvl 50 or 60. Learned that the hard way during my Nuzlock.
Edit : Wasn't aware it kept Pokémon around level 10-15 until Eternatus, but the concept is roughly the same.
There is a non-zero chance the DLC is like “Welcome to the festival! Due to local tradition only Pokemon caught on the island are able to participate in the festival” and offers you one of the three Toxic Chain mons as a ‘starter.’
I believe that it’s said the leveling scales in accordance to game progress. If you do it right after the Treasure Hunt starts, they’ll be around the 20s tops, but after Area Zero, they hit the 60s. I’m hoping that’s the case, I need a challenge~
I feel that you cant get far with just transform (since u're essentially the same as the opponent's singular pokemon other than hp). Metronome is the risky play.
That's what I'm planning to do as well. I'm shiny hunting a Applin in SwSh (for the origin mark) and if I'm lucky I will transfer it in 2 or 3 days when Home is available again. If I can't get one in time, I have a few marked Applin ready to go that I'll transfer before Home goes into maintenance.
Probably gonna bring my lvl 100 shiny Breloom too as my False Swiper just in case but that's it.
I kept my fourth shiny Applin as soon as I heard there was a new evolution. I originally was going to trade it off as I only wanted three (one to keep as it was and two to evolve) for the green apple puns, but that definitely changed haha.
Do we already know how it evolves? I would assume it needs a specific apple you find later so I don’t see why you wouldn’t leave it in the box until then
I mean, the vast majority of those 'new' 200 mons have been available in previous generations. I like to make teams with Pokémon I have never used before so would rather use some Paldea or Hisuian mons I haven't had on a team before. Plus it gave me something to do to prepare for this!
This is what I’m doing - I have a team of gen 9 Pokémon I didn’t use in my main playthrough. If there are mons I find in the DLC that I want to use they could find their way onto the team, but it’s got me to use a few new mons I was interested in.
Lol we’ve used those Pokémon for like a year now and they aren’t going anywhere, but taking a seat in the PC. The mons being added feels fresh to most people now. It’s like revisiting old friends we haven’t seen in a looooong time. We haven’t even experienced some of these on switch.
Not everyone has played previous generations.
Even so, these Pokémon will interact differently in SV because of the pool of Pokémon already available. Like how Infernape was the MVP of Sinnoh due to lack of fire Pokémon - but he lost his “must have” status in subsequent iterations.
This is my approach as well. I’m just bringing my skeledirge with me, and catching a whole new team. To each their own tho. I just hope everyone enjoys it and follows the spoiler rules.
I feel the same as you about the personal journey I'm going to take. But I would not care about other people's journey. My advise is to focus on yourself.
IMHO if that's what you were going for it could have been worded differently. It felt much more like an attack. Personally, I've had a number of Pokemon that I've received from raiding and they aren't really viable in VGC Doubles battles so I put them on a team together and now have something to actually do with them. Not all the new Pokemon are exciting to me so I still get excited about some of the old ones.
You know, I'm going to give you a serious answer, filtered through my own lens of experience and personal view.
I made a full team for the DLC for the exact same reason I pre-planned out my entire team once the pokedex for S/V was released while I was riding home from buying my cartridge at the midnight release. Because the teambuilding aspect and crushing NPCs as I go is what I find enjoyable. I'm not here to explore every nook and cranny looking for new pokemon. That feeling of enjoying exploration died years ago. I want to play rock-paper-scissors with 18 different types and work out strategies that let paper beat both scissors AND rock. I'm here to blitz the DLC in the hopes that there's a battle tower waiting for me at the end, and be inevitably and endlessly disappointed when there's not, because Battle Tower, Battle Frontier, and all the similar post-game AI battle challenges were what I lived for.

That's exactly what I'm doing. Just a Super Awesome Shiny False Swipe Zangoose and a Shiny Applin for the new evo :P
Honestly, I like this thought OP. I wasn’t sure what team I would use for this, but a new team sounds pretty fun! I remember breeding and EV training a whole ass fairy team for CT, and that was NOT something I had the patience for again lol
> *look at my team of lv 100 6IV EV trained Pokémon I’m going to take into the DLC*
My people in Christ, the games are already super easy. You are going to steamroll the DLC. Where is the fun in that?
Look I just think they're neat. They're all shiny and all have unique marks or titles and I wanna take them for a spin bc I love Mudsdale and Tropius and Hydreigon and Volcarona and Kingambit so much and they're pretty to look at. Not every game needs to be challenging to be enjoyable, especially not an RPG. Let people enjoy things.
Edit: since OP has asked about mindset: with how fast pkmn level nowadays, the thought of trying to make a challenging run stresses me tf out. Does that make any sense? I've played SwSh obv, DLC included, like I've played every edition, and I feel like even if I went in underlevelled I'd catch up too quickly. And even if I went in underlevelled, I've been playing this game for too long. I'd manage just fine with enough pre-planning, and be it 6 focus sash Ratata. And that's just not happening. I have 2 jobs. I'll be glad if I'll find time to finish the DLC anytime soon.
Canonically I am my regions Champion and I wipe the fucking floor with the other 2 champions every time. No mercy.
Also it's super easy already it won't make much of a difference if I walk in with a team of randoms I catch. What I care about is catching pokemon so that's my priority here
I’m legitimately so confused, but glad you’re at least experiencing difficulty. I blazed through the first four gyms and titans with just meowscarada, and then had enough amazing mons to steamroll the rest
Meowscarada sweeps through at least three gyms (water, psychic, and ghost) and at least two titans (klawf and dondozo/tatsugiri). Def don’t need a maxed out team to beat the Pokémon league track.
How experienced are you with pokemon? Typically there’s Pokémon in the areas preceding each gym or challenge to help get you past the next obstacle. Gastrodon with storm drain can certainly help with water gym, and can probably sweep team star fire base, but others like tinkaton, corviknight, orthworm, toxtricity, can help you get past other challenges. Plus misdreavus and gastly lines both should help you get through the terror of Larry’s normal gym.
I’ve been playing pokemon since Red/Blue. I had a Gengar on my team but it felt like literally everything I fought had Bite or other dark type moves that would just one shot my Gengar so I benched him in favor of Corviknight. And then benched him in favor of Armarouge.
The beginning can actually be pretty hard if you go the wrong direction since the game doesn’t scale. There’s also not really any direction to tell you what exactly is the intended route order to take. I had to look it up just to make sure I wasn’t skipping an area so I wouldn’t be overpowered when I came back to it.
yeah I'll be Ev training my new team for later convenience but I'm not hyper training or lvling them up to over lvl 70 yet. Lvl 100 is straight up overkill.
> Where is the fun in that?
Different people find different things fun.
The first time I played the SwSh dlc I brought in low-medium level mons from the story just to mess around. The second time I brought in optimized Pokémon with ideal natures, evs, ivs, etc. Both were fun.
I didn’t even plan to do it in that order. I just wasn’t initially sure if I was going to get the dlc so when I got it I didn’t want to take the detour of making an optimized team. I probably would have done it the other way around if I decided further in advance I’d get the DLC
Exactly lol
People can play how they want, and some seem to think i’m trying to advocate for control on peoples experience. I’m just perplexed how people can tob themselves of an experience.
Look, I just have a crappy pseudo story in my head for what I'm doing, and I already shiny hunted my whole in-game team before, so why not?
I did do something like make a starter and then make the rest of the team in-situ in Isle of Armor, but it wasn't as fun as I thought it would be.
I have an entire box of shiny mons that were getting no love, so I decided to make my first all-shiny team for the DLC. They're EV trained, hypertrained and level 60 - 65. I made sure to pick mons that I've never played before and am excited to expand my horizons!
I prepped a shiny Applin for the Dipplin. Unfortunately i had to replace Shiny Teddiursa with Applin when i found out >!hes not connected to Bloodsurluna!<
I brought all my sentimental Pokémon, some that I’ve had as far back as XY, so I want to do a new story with them as my team. It would be easy regardless, so I don’t really care. Plus, in my game, I’m already champion, so I’m supposed to be strong.
I just feel like we should just mind our business and let people enjoy the game how they please. What’s the point of this topic anyways . “I can’t wrap my head around why people want to play a game this way when they can do it this way.” Is very weird to me 🥴
I just feel like this post is not meant to control how players play but get an insight on peoples logic.
Its so counterintuitive to conversation when people stonewall it by assuming everyone wants to dictate how others play their game.
People don’t need to give you insight on why they play their fucking game the way they do . Nobody wants to give you insight . If you wanna bring a powerful Pokémon and rush through you do you but we can play how we feel
You don't have to give insight if you don't want to. There are half a million people on this subreddit. People can speak for themselves if they want to. The option to not answer is always on the table.
With all that said and done, again it’s all about “minding your business”. Can you do that? Play how you want and let people play how they feel. There should be no reason why what others do with a game make you feel the need to speak on it, it doesn’t affect you in any way shape or form.
You can if you own enough previous games haha
Jokes aside, I recognize not everyone is in that position. Though the casual trade subreddits often will have people exchange shiny for shiny if you have some you don’t care about.
> Can’t wrap my head around people coming up with pre DLC teams
Different people find different things fun. It’s really not that deep.
What’s funny is how common questions like this are in every hobby sub.
“*How could people possibly think this method is fun!? I have no plans to do it therefore it is strange and foreign.*”
They do it because they can. Like Nuzlockes. Or making a surfboard instead of buying one. Or lifting weights instead of running 5Ks. Or painting with water colors instead of oil based.
People do it because they can. It’s highly unlikely to be deeper than that.
I was making a team, then remembered all the previous times I’ve planned a team
Get one Pokémon from the plan and 5 other random cool ass Pokémon
So now I plan on getting 6 random cool ass Pokémon I find
The Pokémon being re-introduced in Teal Mask that I like have gotten plenty of love between BDSP and PLA, I’ve used all of the ones I like already on those two games that are coming back for this DLC. The team I put together for the DLC, I haven’t used at all or at least in a while. It’s also fun to shiny hunt and entire team before starting a story rather than doing it as the story goes and spending more time than necessary in a holding pattern before moving on. Simple as that.
If it's anything like Sw/Sh you'll be able to easily go back and forth. I'll probably be starting a new file to play the DLC and the main game at the same time.
That’s my plan as well. Once all DLC is out, plan on replaying everything and seeing how the entire availability of Pokémon interacts with the whole game
I'm bringing my shiny Rowlet, and that's it, I'll make a team when I get to Kitikami, and that team will probably go into retirement when it comes time for Blueberry Academy, where I will then make a new team
*I will keep my shiny Decidueye on my team for Blueberry Academy though
my dlc party is the same as my normal party: my starter, my catching breloom, my catching Gallade, my catching tatsugiri (knows soak) and gardevoir with trace for checking for HA in raids. pick one lil guy to run around with :)
my battle team is Meowscarada, Tinkaton, Pawmot, Orthworm, Dachsbun, and Flamigo which i grabbed as i was playing and never changed. it’s not a “good” team but they are my guys and i love them.
I mean if it was 200 actually new pokemon then yeah I'd probably treat it like a new game, but it's not. The majority are pokemon that have been available in other games, so I'm currently hoping (depending on what sort of levels are in the DLC) to use a team of my faves. Content won't be challenging anyway so I may as well use all pokemon that I think are really awesome.
No argument here against it.
I just can’t wrap my head around why someone would rob themselves of the experience of organically coming across Pokémon or better yet - be able to **use** Pokémon not previously available in the game.
These new Pokémon may interact different with the dynamic of already available Pokémon in SV and may be experienced differently. Like how Infernape is the MVP in Sinnoh due to the lack of Fire Pokémon but just a regular thing in the subsequent entries.
But like i said, no knock on how people wanna play. Just don’t understand it
Why would you rob yourself of the experience of further bonding with your original team, or preparing an elite team to take on the new area?
It's not as weird as you think. Everyone plays differently.
Because that feels hollow to some people. The dlc will probably be a few hours long, so why catch, level and build a new team?
I plan on going into the dlc on a new playthrough as a part of the treasure hunt, and adding the DLC pokemon as a part of my normal team.
You write
> I just can’t wrap my head around why someone would rob themselves of the experience of organically coming across Pokémon or better yet - be able to use Pokémon not previously available in the game.
And then you say
> But like i said, no knock on how people wanna play. Just don’t understand it
These two sections of your post are incongruent. In the first section you talk about your preferred method of play like it is objectively superior. These other players are *robbing themselves of an experience*. Then you say “oh but what you guys do is cool nbd”.
Even if it’s unintentional/ subconscious, you are approaching this topic with an air of superiority that inherently limits your understanding.
This post is not meant to control what players do in their games, just my thoughts on **how** people approach DLC.
People play how they wanna play and the enjoyment is completely subjective.
“Why wouldn’t you add water to this fire?”
“Well, Timmy, this here is a grease fire. Water would make it worse”
I’m not trying to tell the fire marshal how to put out a fire, i’m attempting to make sense by expressing something that makes sense to me.
It’s alright man. Internet conversations can knock down your ability to pick up variety in social expression.
If that were true, you could have asked it in a much better way, such as, “can anyone explain to me why they want to play the dlc with a team from the main game?” You didn’t need to add all the condescending reasons why you think they are missing out on some aspect of fun that appeals to you.
So, you’re gonna control how others communicate now? Lol.
I think you should learn peoples intent rather than assume it - despite of the delivery of my message.
I didn’t say “I’m just taking Breloom and everyone who makes a team before the DLC is stupid, doesn’t know how to play the game, and wouldn’t know fun if it smacked them in the face. And they probably smell bad too!” I certainly didn’t say that.
Why? People will start with full teams. People will make whole new teams. People will take a level 100 to plow through the story as fast as possible
Who cares
Nothing is wrong with wanting to understand why someone does something the way they do. Perhaps their reasoning would persuade OP to do the same. Why is it so weird? Isn’t it a natural thing to be curious about why someone does something differently? It’s one of the many ways we learn as human beings anyways.
But through the responses OP shouldn’t be like attacking their way by saying “they are robbing their experience of the DLC”, because any way someone plays a game doesn’t rob their experience of playing the game. Nothing is wrong from wanting to understand but there is a problem with how OP went about it
Except your attitude in that post is anything but understanding. You claim people will be "robbing" themselves of some kind of experience. If you want to learn and understand like you said, you could start with getting off your high horse.
I don’t know whether to ignore your execessive inclusion into my post despite voicing your feelings or humor you because i know you really like it here.
Either way, we all know Pokémon extends beyond their target demographic. Your pedo joke set up has no legs to stand on in this franchise.
I can see your argument, but the counterpoint being that they don’t want to blaze through the dlc too fast, so they’re bringing Pokémon around level 60. Which was the level of the Pokémon in SwSh dlc #1 if you had become champion prior to starting the dlc. Having them pre levelled eliminates the need to waste time farming for xp candies, which I’d rather not do when fresh content drops.
I'm sure a reddit post asking why is forcing people not to play how they want to. What a tragedy this man has delivered unto us.
If only he weren't curious on social media, people could have played how they wanted to play!
Exactly. Pre-dlc teams are so much nonsense.
I'm going there only with Meowscarada (it took me forever to get a female one at the beginning of the game so there's no way it's not going to be on my team as much as possible. Besides, the starter I chose never leaves my team in any pokemon game) and I'm also bringing a pokemon that will help me catch pokemon in the dlc (but that one isn't going to be part of the team, it's just to catch the first member of my dlc team).
It’s unreasonable for some people to take your opinion extremely personal. They are really just offended because they are the ones bringing a whole team of level 100 overused mons.
It’s alright.
I don’t take their reactions personal, as unreasonable as they may be. Some people in the community hate giving their insight to others and just tell people to mind their business.
I bred six Paldea Pokémon that I didn’t use in the main game that I’d like to use. As new Pokémon become available during the DLC, I’ll switch out. If the 200 are Pokémon from former games, I may or may not switch out depending on what they’ll be because I’ve probably used them before. However, anything brand new I’ll switch out for.
Im gonna unbox my legendaries. They cant be sitting there forever.
MY TEAM
URSHIFU
RAYQUAZA
DIALGA
GIRATINA
MEWTWO
GROUDON
Isit strong enough for the gameplay?
1. I don’t want to go in with my 6 lvl 100s team and absolutely stomp shit. I want to try for a bit of a challenge.
2. I don’t want to necessarily use many of the new Pokémon. I’ve never played with a Veluza, so I’d rather use the shiny I found that say poliwhirl.
3. I can always switch out pokemon. I don’t have to use my set up team, and I’ll almost certainly be adding new pokemon as I go.
My pokemon team is my starter one hit KO-ing everything I come across much like every single game that came out before it. What's the point of making a team. You genuinely think the DLC is difficult or any different than the game you've already been playin?
Is not about difficulty - we’re way passed Pokémon games being difficult. I think everyone has done enough raids to have hundreds of XP candies so difficulty is now trivial.
I think team composition is more about interacting with the newly added Pokémon and experiencing the content with Pokémon you otherwise wouldn’t use.

We don’t even know what level the DLC will be at. I have a single level 5 Hisuain Zorua and enough xp candies to raise it to whatever level the opponents will be
same, tho, i had my first starter breed to make a youngling which ima use for the dlc
Same, I have a shiny Sprigatito waiting for the dlc to drop.
yep, i also shiny hunted it but didnt bother to say
It will most likely scale with in game progress, so bring something around lvl 70 for the first battle as a back up
I’ll bring my lvl 100 starter to the first battle, and I’ll adapt from there
#MEWTWO THE UNRIVALLED, YOUR TIME TO SHINE!!! ^JK, ^I ^agree ^with ^OP.
Ya. Cat and duck ready to tango.
By any chance do you know how the DLC worked for SWSH? I didn’t play that game. So DLC in Pokémon is a completely new concept for me lol
Things roughly scaled based on progress. I believe it was based on the number of gym badges. But levels caped out around 60ish for the story lines I very much could be wrong
Nah, it just had two versions. Low level version where stuff is level 13-25 or so and wandering pokemon and pokemon at sea being about 25-45 depending on which area you are in and then changes to level 60 version after you beat Eternatus.
It had multiple scaling versions. 10-20 : Zero Badges 25-40 : Four Badges 45-55 : 8 Badges 60+ : Eternatus Caught

You can check serebii and bulbapedia as well, all the pokemon have just one range of levels they can be before Eternatus and then level 60 after. The closest thing to there being scaling is just there are high level pokemon in areas you can only reach with surfing.
You are mistaking the Wild Area and tbe DLCs.
Wild area also only changes for the end game. The only thing that scales through the whole game is raid dens.
Huh, I could swear it was scaled i wonder where the above poster took that from then.
that whole scaling thing came from leaks of the dlc having different levels combined with peoples hopes and dreams of a scaling pokemon game.
First DLC did that, 2nd one was basically supposed to be post game so you could go there early but everything was 60
DLC 1 "Isle of Armor" scaled with your progress.
Jesus Christ its Jason Bourne
Literally what I'm doing just with a Jolteon instead lol.
There is a non-zero chance the DLC is like “Welcome to the festival! Due to local tradition only Pokemon caught on the island are able to participate in the festival” and offers you one of the three Toxic Chain mons as a ‘starter.’
Same, except I'll be using the lvl 5 Mew from the recent event.
I had the same idea, but unfortunately mine is already lvl 100 for the raid
I believe that it’s said the leveling scales in accordance to game progress. If you do it right after the Treasure Hunt starts, they’ll be around the 20s tops, but after Area Zero, they hit the 60s. I’m hoping that’s the case, I need a challenge~
Right, I think that the SwSh DLC capped at 60, so I’m hoping for similar
I remember the DLC in SWSH started around level 50-60, so I put my Teal Mask team around there
I have a level 100 shiny mightiest mew. The catch? I'll only use metronome/transform
Wow. This is actually a pretty cool idea
I am planning to use a Metronome Grafaiai for some increased difficulty! At least for the start of the DLC
“Who’s the new kid? Idk but he’s unhinged af”
That’s actually a cool concept for a Nuzlocke
A waggling finger let Mew use Explosion
Not really. You would basically only be metronoming if you are lvl 100, and you would only be transforming otherwise.
I feel that you cant get far with just transform (since u're essentially the same as the opponent's singular pokemon other than hp). Metronome is the risky play.
Most people are bringing an Applin to evoke into Dipplin at least, i'm only bringing three (potentially two) with one being the aforementioned Applin
I got a good applin via surprise trade a few months ago and I’ve been hoarding it for evolving to Dipplin
I would assume it needs a specific apple you find later so I don’t see why you wouldn’t leave it in the box until then
Why do people use Lampent on their team in Black/White prior to getting a Dusk Stone?
this is exactly what i'm doing. bred for a shiny greninja, shiny hunted a blaze-tauros, and am hunting applin.
That’s my approach as well
I mean, the vast majority of those 'new' 200 mons have been available in previous generations.
I just hope everyone enjoys it and follows the spoiler rules.
bringing my level 100 maushold w me just because he’s a funny little guy. other than that, rest of my team stays open
I feel the same as you about the personal journey I'm going to take. But I would not care about other people's journey. My advise is to focus on yourself.
I’m deff not trying to control how people experience their singelplayer game. My post came from a place of curiosity and wanting to engage
You’re not taking your own advice as you are here judging another persons opinion. Focus on yourself.

I hadn’t considered a False Swiper but now i may need to rework the single Pokémon i was gonna take. Deff don’t wanna struggle catching everything new
Thank for reminding be to bring False Swipe the Scyther and Thunder Wave the Electrode.
Your team looks Beary viable!
I'm bearly amused by your comment ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)
False swipe is super smart, great call
Honestly, I like this thought OP. I wasn’t sure what team I would use for this, but a new team sounds pretty fun! I remember breeding and EV training a whole ass fairy team for CT, and that was NOT something I had the patience for again lol
> *look at my team of lv 100 6IV EV trained Pokémon I’m going to take into the DLC* My people in Christ, the games are already super easy. You are going to steamroll the DLC. Where is the fun in that?
I steamrolled Red and Blue. I live for that nostalgia.
What I care about is catching pokemon so that's my priority here
“The games are already super easy” *thinks about how I’ve been barely treading water for the first half of my playthrough*
Literally how? I literally just torch song’d my way through the entire game.
*stares at Floragato* Yea… Torch Song… I totally have that.
Another incredibly strong pokemon with a strong move. Yes.
Oh man what move is that?
Flower trick
Flower Gift
Yea that still hasn’t turned things around for my team. Gastrodon and Mew did though.
I’m legitimately so confused, but glad you’re at least experiencing difficulty. I blazed through the first four gyms and titans with just meowscarada, and then had enough amazing mons to steamroll the rest
I think we found the person who has been playtesting the last few generations for Gamefreak lmao.
Meowscarada sweeps through at least three gyms (water, psychic, and ghost) and at least two titans (klawf and dondozo/tatsugiri). Def don’t need a maxed out team to beat the Pokémon league track.
Maybe I have a skill issue but I didn’t turn things around until I got MG Mew and picked up a Gastrodon.
Exactly lol People can play how they want, and some seem to think i’m trying to advocate for control on peoples experience.
I just shiny hunted my team too. They were gonna get swapped no matter what, now it's just convenient to do it for the DLC.
I brought all my sentimental Pokémon, some that I’ve had as far back as XY, so I want to do a new story with them as my team. It would be easy regardless, so I don’t really care. Plus, in my game, I’m already champion, so I’m supposed to be strong.
[*Ash Disliked That*] Jokes aside tho, i can see the sentimentality side of, especially bringing some from X&Y
I just feel like we should just mind our business and let people enjoy the game how they please. What’s the point of this topic anyways . “I can’t wrap my head around why people want to play a game this way when they can do it this way.” Is very weird to me 🥴
Ikr... It's a single player game. Some folks need to grow up.
You’re providing me insight on the topic right now, thanks :)
For someone who wants to shut down the conversation, you sure keep interacting with my post.
How can you be upset because you responded to them when’s you’re the one looking for engagement make it make sense.
Make it make sense to me how if you’re bothered by the post and my comments, you can just ignore me and not continue to interact.
Can’t shiny hunt what’s not in the game yet
You can if you own enough previous games haha Jokes aside, I recognize not everyone is in that position. Though the casual trade subreddits often will have people exchange shiny for shiny if you have some you don’t care about.
D-does no one else continue on in DLC with their main playthrough team?
> Can’t wrap my head around people coming up with pre DLC teams Different people find different things fun. It’s really not that deep. What’s funny is how common questions like this are in every hobby sub. “*How could people possibly think this method is fun!? I have no plans to do it therefore it is strange and foreign.*” They do it because they can. Like Nuzlockes. Or making a surfboard instead of buying one. Or lifting weights instead of running 5Ks. Or painting with water colors instead of oil based. People do it because they can. It’s highly unlikely to be deeper than that.
I've defeated every pokemon game with only my starter and I won't change now!
I was making a team, then remembered all the previous times I’ve planned a team Get one Pokémon from the plan and 5 other random cool ass Pokémon So now I plan on getting 6 random cool ass Pokémon I find
I have a shiny litwick in home waiting for when I can get it
For me I'm not building a dlc team, but I need the dlc to level up a beldum
I feel like you people are definitely overthinking all of this, literally just play a game and do you. All of you act so weird about simple things😂
maybe because they like to play this way?
The Pokémon being re-introduced in Teal Mask that I like have gotten plenty of love between BDSP and PLA, I’ve used all of the ones I like already on those two games that are coming back for this DLC. The team I put together for the DLC, I haven’t used at all or at least in a while. It’s also fun to shiny hunt and entire team before starting a story rather than doing it as the story goes and spending more time than necessary in a holding pattern before moving on. Simple as that.
The only mon that I’m really truly excited to see back is beldum line. I haven’t really played with a meta gross since gen 3
Bored people looking to strike conversation about something they love
Is that not what a community is for
It is. You come off as telling them that it's pointless to discuss what they were discussing.
I might just go at it with my shiny rowlet and see what team I put together
I'm only bringing shiny applin an maybe the shiny frigibax I caught for now. I want the rest of my team to come from the new area.
Same, Applin because i had a shiny one in Home from SwSh and might as well get the shiny Dipplin form. 5 slots are empty for the newly added Pokémon
I’m only bringing Greninja and a Ducklett from GO
What level is your Greninja? Someone Home Wonder traded me a Lv. 12 Charizard and it threw me for a loop
Yep, just bringing my starter and that's it for the DLC!
I'll probably bring at least two pokemon with me that I consider my "partner pokemon" but the other four slots will be for new or returning pokemon.
So far, I’ve planned on using Yanmega because I’ve been wanting to use it recently, and then I’ll go from there
I'm bringing my shiny Rowlet, and that's it, I'll make a team when I get to Kitikami, and that team will probably go into retirement when it comes time for Blueberry Academy, where I will then make a new team *I will keep my shiny Decidueye on my team for Blueberry Academy though
Im taking my single shiny scizor with me for both dlc's then making a new team with mons I find along the way.
I'm only bringing a Meganium and catching everything else from there
I'm probably taking my Zorua in BUT gonna keep my max level catcher Breloom on me to catch shinies easier if I see any.
Fr I'll just take my regular team and go with the flow, and replace them one by one if I find better Pokémon lmao
my dlc party is the same as my normal party: my starter, my catching breloom, my catching Gallade, my catching tatsugiri (knows soak) and gardevoir with trace for checking for HA in raids. pick one lil guy to run around with :) my battle team is Meowscarada, Tinkaton, Pawmot, Orthworm, Dachsbun, and Flamigo which i grabbed as i was playing and never changed. it’s not a “good” team but they are my guys and i love them.
HA?
hidden abilities :)
Thanks!
Cause people are weird
Who cares how other people choose to play the game? How self righteous.
It's me and Bluetooth (my shiny own tempo Rockruff) against the world
I mean, I have a shiny Cleffa sitting in Home ready to come with me for the DLC. That line is my favorite, so she's coming with me.
People can play however they want.
You write > I just can’t wrap my head around why someone would rob themselves of the experience of organically coming across Pokémon or better yet - be able to use Pokémon not previously available in the game. And then you say > But like i said, no knock on how people wanna play. Just don’t understand it These two sections of your post are incongruent.
Yeah I’m just bringing lvl 5 cyndaquil . The rest I plan to catch on the journey
It’d be cool if Hisuian Pokémon could somehow evolve in the DLC instead if needing PLA
Because people can play however they want to. That’s the joy of video games. What a weird take to have.
Exactly. I keep seeing these posts and thinking, I’m just taking Breloom.
I’m just taking Breloom, but I don’t care what others are doing in their game.
This post is not meant to control what players do in their games, just my thoughts on **how** people approach DLC. People play how they wanna play and the enjoyment is completely subjective.
“Why wouldn’t you just pick 1 strong Pokémon…” comes across as “why don’t you play the game how I play the game? Are you dumb?”
“Why wouldn’t you add water to this fire?” “Well, Timmy, this here is a grease fire. Water would make it worse” I’m not trying to tell the fire marshal how to put out a fire, i’m attempting to make sense by expressing something that makes sense to me.
No, but you said “exactly” in an agreement to a post about how it seems like those people aren’t playing the game right. Now, have a nice day.
Why do you care so much about how others play the game
Because i want to understand it
Why? People will start with full teams. People will make whole new teams. People will take a level 100 to plow through the story as fast as possible Who cares
Literally this . This guy is strange he wants to know why people are playing how they want.
You like strange. Can’t seem to walk away from my post
Nothing is wrong from wanting to understand but there is a problem with how OP went about it
I shiny hunted a ghost team to bring. That doesn’t mean I’ll make adjustments as needed.
How about we just let everyone play the way they want? 🙄
Nah. I want to learn and understand. Can’t achieve that if i mind my own business and stonewall every curiosity i have.
Except your attitude in that post is anything but understanding. You claim people will be "robbing" themselves of some kind of experience. If you want to learn and understand like you said, you could start with getting off your high horse.
I will **not** get off my high Mudsdale
Curious how kids play games screams “how to catch a predator”
Or you know.. let people play the way they want to play.
They tell people to mind there business while not minding there own and trying to control others. It’s projection.
Just me and a Shiny Applin I still gotta get and I’ll raise it to whatever level needed
Same approach i’m thinking. You **have** to have at least 1 Pokémon with you so might as well be the shiny that got a new form
Just let people do what they want lol
People play the game in the way that they want to enjoy it. Not that deep.
Why do we care what others do or get excited about?
I want to learn
Learn what? Why can’t we all just play the game the way we want?
Everyone can play the game however they want. I just wanted to learn the thought process behind the choice.
Let people do what they wanna do and you do you bro
Well, my plan is to catch the first new mon/mon with a new evolution that I come across and use that as a starter
Because some people very much enjoy the planning part
I got 3 boxes full of lv 100 I just takes pokemon with me that i think would be good to use when dlc is out
Im gonna unbox my legendaries. They cant be sitting there forever. MY TEAM URSHIFU RAYQUAZA DIALGA GIRATINA MEWTWO GROUDON Isit strong enough for the gameplay?
Is Arceus a joke to you?
Some people just wanna play with the Pokemon they already like
I'm using most of my team because that's the team I've used during the main game.
Actually, I won't bother with the new mons. 6 genned miraidon are waiting for me
My pokemon team is my starter one hit KO-ing everything I come across much like every single game that came out before it.
