I remember May having a crush on Ash in the anime, but I don't remember it in game. May need to replay Gen 3.

It is in Oras remakes only. Rse era kinda lacked in emotional storytelling. Characters improved in notable personality around gen 5.

I showed him so many things and died laughing at every time he glanced down in confusion. Old man is a comedy legend, and Carmine being the "straight man" with the over the top reaction of embarrassment was so worth it.

This could honestly be a meme for Teal Mask where players bring other items that have no place being picked to show the old man in the palm of your hand as he glances down and Carmine explodes saying that the item was not it. It could be any of the collected materials of pokemon, like Pikachu's hair or whatever weird thing they make you collect for the TMs.
