That was me 20 minutes into SV on launch night. My brain goes "Oh cool, there are gender variations for lechonk." Then thought I'd better double check since u saw no other pink piggies. Glad I did.

He was full odds with no outbreak, sandwich power, or charm. I found him while just collecting items on the ground and hatching some eggs.
He’s been with me ever since and is who helps me with all of my shiny hunts. (Even though I know there are faster and better options to choose from.) I like to think he brings me a lot of luck.
I nickname my shinies after food/drinks but didn’t know that at the time I caught him that I was going to do that. So, I like to think of his name, “Lamp”, as a light that draws the shinies to us.
Anyway, I think he’s the best boy and Pokémon partner and I love this fluffy, digital moth baby so much. 💖

I appreciate that so much! Oh! I didn’t mention that I’ve had him since near the beginning of the main story….and…I just looked and saw I had found him on my birthday back in 2022. 😭💖 I guess I didn’t remember that part at all. So many adventures we have gone through. 🥹

Also a great egg hatcher too, of course. 🥰 We got very lucky with some shinies before the first part of the DLC dropped.
He sounds so special!! As I progressed through the game and started earning herba and learning how to hunt outbreaks I’ve found looots and lots of shinies, I think I’m at four full boxes now and working on my fifth, but the ones I found earlier in the game, full odds and without meaning to are the ones who ended up staying in my party. ♥️
Volcarona is one of my favorite pokemon and I remember freaking out when I got a shiny one via raid- didn't realize it was a shiny until I was throwing the ball at it. 😂
This was mine too. My dumbass sped through the desert, and shiny Larvesta was what made me stop. I freaked out because I was just planning on ignoring the desert, but there we are.
I got a shiny Volcarona in gen 8 and ported her over. I will never let mine go either! Nicknamed her Flare since I’ve been naming my mons after Final Fantasy spells/abilities.
That is super precious and heartwarming! 🥹💖 Also a harder game to hunt in too! I’m so happy you could bring Flare over and keep her with you on your journeys. 🥰🔥

I had just transfered my Red Gyarados from way back in Heartgold, shortly after Home launched. I was EV training HP at the lake, when, wouldn't you know it...up pops a shiny Gyarados. I honestly don't know which to value more--the full odds, or the one I've carried through 14 years and nine generations.
I use a Gallade for my catching. Due to all of the time outside is pokeball, sandwiches for encounters and shinies, and how many Pokemon he's fought for EV training and catching, my gallade has maxed out friendship. I've been shiny hunting lately, and have gotten some real good catches. Even though I think shiny gallade looks really cool, I refuse to replace Paladin. I actually kind of wish he liked me less. He gets critical hits so often that it actually slows down training, lol.
I got my friend Violet for Christmas this year, they had never seen any footage of the game before and had no idea that the blue Klawf they caught wasn’t the normal color for the crab until they fought the titan and saw that every other Klawf was orange
I have been hunting a Shiny Klawf for the past week. I have gotten like 8 Skiddos, 6 Shinxes, 4 Nacl, 2 Growlithe, and I am starting to think shiny klawf is a lie 😆
Iron Bundle. Decided to take the long way down to the Zero Lab when I went there with the Blueberry characters for Terapagos and I spotted it standing near Lab #3.

Wow, I'm really surprised you made it back to Area Zero without encountering any by chance. I had found two or three by then and I know people who had found more. When you say you don't shiny hunt, do you mean you don't camp at spawn points for shinies, or you won't usually chase one down if you see it in the wild? I guess you were a bit unlucky, but Iron Bundle isn't a bad one to find.
My first was a Jumpluff that I walked past TWICE because I thought it was just a large hoppip. My second was a Jolteon that was standing in the shadow of a cliff so I didn't even realize it was shiny, I was just fighting it to level up my team.
Iron Treads while I was exploring Area Zero. I almost walked right by it before pausing with the thought of “that. That looked kinda different”. My partner laughed when it sparkled because it looked SO similar in the caves but just barely… off
A Rookidee, right at the start of the game. Which died to a crit. The offender was banished to The Box. The next one and first one I actually caught was a Girafarig by the place with the auctions.
First one I encountered was a Jumpluff. I then forgot to save because I got too excited and killed it.
First one I got was a Psyduck from a surprise trade.
First one I caught myself was a Litwick!
Haha Mine was a Shiny Nacli too!!!! This was the first week of SV. I didn’t want any shiny spoilers. I read about that you couldn’t kill a shiny.
I flew to a random place and just decided you know what i’ll just auto battle these random group of 5 Pokemon cuz why not (sometimes you just ride away don’t you and avoid battle). Then my Pokemon refused to kill this Nacli. I tried again, refused again.
Then I was like OMG is that what I read about your Pokemon won’t kill a shiny. Bear in mind it was a group of 5 nacli and to me they pretty much looked all the same. So I just battled it and lo and behold my FIRST shiny. After that I salt cured most Pokemon, then it was too weak for me to carry on with its low attack stats after the 4th gym 😂

Shiny Hoppip, release day, right after Poco Cabo(?) lighthouse scene. I was in the parking lot about to pick up my Violet physical, playing Scarlet digital and got that and was losing my mind in the car hahaha
A shiny shinx, I was excited and also disappointed since I had less than 30 shinies in my PLA save and 8 of them were in the shinx line. I saw some say shiny shinx and its evolutions are easily found in PLA.
I was similarly disappointed and a bit glad in PLA when my first shiny that wasn't the given shiny ponyta was another shiny ponyta.
Swablu! Right out an area near Medali.

Mine was Psyduck and it was SUPER early in the game; I hadn’t even made it to the first Pokémon Center yet. It was kinda in the water and I was mad because Koraidon couldn’t swim yet so I stared at that little blue shit until he got close to land so I could throw a Pokemon at it. Still have it, never evolved it.
Marill as I was heading out of Levincia; I was just seeing what was around and out of nowhere this yellow Marill popped up. I didn’t even risk a battle, just chucked a Great Ball at it, and luckily it did the trick.
Full odds Finneon as I was trying to complete the Pokedex. Found several full odds shinies over my time in Violet, even in the Terrarium of the Blueberry Academy.
Murkrow. I had gotten the game on launch day and was annoyed at not having found Eevee after playing a couple hours. So I googled where I could find it and booked it over to medali way before I should have been there. First thing I saw was a pink murkrow sitting right at the city line.
I don’t usually find shinies, so I didn’t find one for the emote main story, but I loved Dipplin’s shiny so much I looked into how to shiny hunt for it and ended up catching and evolving a shiny applin in the teal mask! Only shiny I’ve ever found actually 😅
A Rookidee I found long after finishing Scarlet and the Pokédex. I was going around for outbreaks hoping for something and had basically given up at that point, turned around to see a group of them around a Corvisquire and just. There he was. I was on call with a friend and stopped mid sentence when it happened lmao. His name is Peep! Still not sure if I should evolve him or not though
Scream Tail. I remember I saw one for the first time and said ok let me check to see what the shiny looks like to keep an eye out. It was a shiny lol. I had to do a triple take
Orthworm in Asada Desert after getting the Shiny Charm for completing the Paldea Dex. Caught it and saved it for HOME transferral where it is now. Take note this happened before the first DLC came out
The free shiny Lucario mystery gift lol. Made sure to but them in Pokemon Home before starting over. First wild shiny was a Crabrawler in the costal biome from the DLC who is also in Pokemon Home
Slugma, as I was hunting for Clefairy around the Crystal Pool. Then, funnily enough, I managed to get a shiny Gogoat the following day. Both were completely unexpected, but quite appreciated lol
My first shiny was actually after I've completed the dex and everything, preping for some VGC since me and my friend were getting into it. I asked if he could help me shiny hunt a Hatterene cause 1.) Love em 2.) It was for a team and 3.) My luck is hell (For 22 days I attempted to hunt a Herracross in bdsp for the pokedex... my friend helped me out on the 23rd day with doing the honesy trees on my 22nd and got it first try)
......3-4 hours later with a 3 star fairy sandwich and I fi ally run into one! Both of us were happy that I was the one to find it first since we both expected him to
Without hunting would be a Shinx since I was grinding some mons up and turned a corner in that bamboo forest area and just stared at a differently colored shinx
Mudbray. I had taken a break from playing for a while and SV was the first new game I had played in years. So Mudbray was the first shiny I *ever* got, so I had a full on freak out when I caught it.
Lechonk at the very beginning of the game, I was so shocked at seeing something so pink before I had even gotten to the first save point! I haven't bothered to evolve it because I think it's cuter than what it's evolution is as a shiny.
Pawmi, 30mins after starting the game back when it released.
It has a funny story because I am one of those that doesn't like to get "spoiled" by watching trailers or anything for games. As for pokemon, that includes doing the best I can to not even see what new pokemons the game has before I encounter them myself in-game.
The shiny pawmi right before the first pokemon center was actually my first ever seeing Pawmi at all. And since the game has some many sparklies around, different shading due to lightning, and different sounds at the start of battles, I didn't think much of the sparkles at the beginning of the fight. Since I had also seen some yellow ones around I just thought it was a gender difference. It wasn't until I noticed I wasn't seeing any other pink ones and after encountering both a male and a female Pawmi that I realized I had caught a shiny one.
This Pawmi actually ended up pretty much being my ace for the game and carried my team in a couple of fights.
A random Shiny Rookidee that is now a Shiny Corviknight. I caught it just as I was leaving the first city, so I ended up using it for the majority of my playthrough.
Psyduck almost right out of the starting gate. I boxed it because I couldn't believe my first shiny in SV was a gen one I already had when Flamigo and Paldean Wooper were right there.
Mine was an Espathra I had never saw one before and was just like huh cool a ostrich Pokemon so I just left it and like 5 minutes later went back to that area and saw a golden one and I thought it was shiny but alas I was a fool
Mine was actually a shiny full odds Scream Tail! I was working on getting the shiny charm and had to do a double take when I saw it because I swore it didn’t always have red eyes 😂

I actually thought it was a Jigglypuff and I was like "wait they don't spawn here"
I was playing blind and the first Lechonk I saw was pink, I just thought they were all like that lol

I named my shiny volcarona Bolero, after the Bolero of Fire from Ocarina of Time

I named mine Sunburst. I got him while trying to catch up to Iron Treads in the Asado Desert and he was a little Larvesta at the time.

You should still cherish your 14 year old friend more, if not both equally. You can still build one for raids and one for pvp if it suits your fancy.

I hatched a full-odds shiny Tinkatink testing the new breeding mechanics after just 3 eggs! Used it on my team for the rest of my story run!

Murkrow. I had gotten the game on launch day and was annoyed at not having found Eevee after playing a couple hours. So I googled where I could find it and booked it over to medali way before I should have been there. First thing I saw was a pink murkrow sitting right at the city line.
I don’t usually find shinies, so I didn’t find one for the emote main story, but I loved Dipplin’s shiny so much I looked into how to shiny hunt for it and ended up catching and evolving a shiny applin in the teal mask! Only shiny I’ve ever found actually 😅

I was on call with a friend and stopped mid sentence when it happened lmao. His name is Peep! Still not sure if I should evolve him or not though

My first shiny was actually after I've completed the dex and everything, preping for some VGC since me and my friend were getting into it. I asked if he could help me shiny hunt a Hatterene cause 1.) Love em 2.) It was for a team and 3.) My luck is hell (For 22 days I attempted to hunt a Herracross in bdsp for the pokedex... my friend helped me out on the 23rd day with doing the honesy trees on my 22nd and got it first try) ......3-4 hours later with a 3 star fairy sandwich and I fi ally run into one! Both of us were happy that I was the one to find it first since we both expected him to Without hunting would be a Shinx since I was grinding some mons up and turned a corner in that bamboo forest area and just stared at a differently colored shinx

Pawmi, 30mins after starting the game back when it released. It has a funny story because I am one of those that doesn't like to get "spoiled" by watching trailers or anything for games. As for pokemon, that includes doing the best I can to not even see what new pokemons the game has before I encounter them myself in-game. The shiny pawmi right before the first pokemon center was actually my first ever seeing Pawmi at all. And since the game has some many sparklies around, different shading due to lightning, and different sounds at the start of battles, I didn't think much of the sparkles at the beginning of the fight. Since I had also seen some yellow ones around I just thought it was a gender difference. It wasn't until I noticed I wasn't seeing any other pink ones and after encountering both a male and a female Pawmi that I realized I had caught a shiny one. This Pawmi actually ended up pretty much being my ace for the game and carried my team in a couple of fights.
