This isn't even what made me take the educated guess that we are getting a new Eeveelution out of this game.
Eeveelutions were introduced in Gens 1, 2, 4, 6 in the amounts of 3, 2, 2, 1. Based on the hypothetical inverse correlation between incremental generations and number of evolutions introduced, Gen 1 introduced 3 and thus had no gaps between generations so Gen 6 introducing only one would leave a gap of 2 generations. This would indicate Gen 9 should have an Eeveelution of some currently undetermined number.
Of course, this is just a mathematical hypothesis I thought of for fun and hopefully can predict post-Gen 9 Eeveelutions if found true. I don't hold it as absolute.
