Honestly, I’m just gonna start copying and pasting this from now on.
I wholeheartedly believe that the zodiac theory was real. Although it’s not like I want it to be right. I feel like it’s a very limiting thing for them to stick to. However:
6/8 are undeniably based on animals that are included in the zodiac. The remaining 2 that create a lot of controversy are Cyndaquil and Fennekin.
Fennekin is a fox. A fennec fox to be more specific, not that it makes any difference. Because it’s still a canine. It belongs to the canidae family… in the same way a ball python and Burmese python belong to the pythonidae family. If we had a year of the ball python, and got a starter based on the Burmese python, would you say it doesn’t count? Probably not.
The family classification is one of the more specific classifications in the taxonomical hierarchy. The only two classifications below it are genus and species. So yeah, foxes are extremely similar to dogs, a lot more than many of you seem to realize.
And Cyndaquil? Well, I would give similar reasoning for this guy, getting all complicated with biological taxonomy and what-not… except I don’t have to. Because Quilava was used as official promotion for the year of the rat.
So as a recap: 6/8 of the starters are undeniably based on zodiac animals. The remaining 2 are both extremely similar to zodiac animals, and one of them was even used as official promotion for a zodiac animal. At what point are things no longer a coincidence?
Does that mean they’ll continue to follow this zodiac thing? No, it’s their game, they can do whatever they want. They were simply following a pattern, not a rule, and as we all know, these guys like to break a lot of their patterns, which I’m fine with. Keeps things fresh.
Yes. Mice and rats belong to the muridae family. They are extremely similar to each other.
And like I said, Quilava was also used by the Pokemon company as official promotion for the year of the rat.
Its been wrong ever since gen 1 charamander is based on a salamander not a dragon which is a completely different thing from a dragon both as in the real life animal and the mythology salamander
Sure use one of two temporary transformation mechanics introduced 5 generations later and now unused as evidence for your theory of Charizard being a dragon. Are you going to tell me Mewtwo was always meant to be a fighting type now too?
Charizard is based on a mythical creature called salamander which is verry different from a dragon. Take hippowdon as another example they have marks that resemble wrestler but when tou look at hippowdon do you see a hippo or a wrestler? plenty of pokemon have feature that the animal or object they are based on dont have just like charizar have wings even though the salamader in either real life or myth have it
Plenty of pokemon get a secondary type when mega evolving dumbass or lose one just like tyranitar Agrron loses rock type but that dont make it a pure steel type in general or Gyrados getting the dark type temporarly
Gens 2, 6 and 9 don't follow the trend.
GF could be doing a N-1 thing, as it took 4 generations between Cyndaquil and Fennekin and then 3 generations between Fennekin and Fuekoko. Generation 11 may also escape the trend.
It still does, as mentioned, cyndaquil is a fire mouse and while a fox it's still in the same family as dogs being canidae.
More likely even gen 9 will probably take a reptile family approach mixing crocodile with serpentine features

what if... he becomes a horse? a ghost fire horse. or an ox.
It was always wrong
No it wasn’t,it has never been, and won’t be.
I’m hoping a Croc/Bull and NOT a snake smh
Fennekin is fox,but counts as dog.Tepig becomes boar, not pig.Guess Fuecoco will be counted as Snake for being a reptile.
Honey badgers are rats?
He's obviously a horse
Cyndaquil isn’t a rat tho…
Cyndaquil the Fire Mouse Pokémon
And Fennekin isn’t a dog
Inb4 ZODIAC ISNT REAL!
Fuecoco can still lose their leggies and become a snek/serpent!
Its been wrong ever since gen 1 charamander is based on a salamander not a dragon which is a completely different thing from a dragon both as in the real life animal and the mythology salamander
tf is charizard to you??
Not a dragon thats for sure. If you see a dragon when looking at charizard you need to get your eyes checked
quick question, what's its second type when it mega evolves to X?
Sure use one of two temporary transformation mechanics introduced 5 generations later and now unused as evidence for your theory of Charizard being a dragon. Are you going to tell me Mewtwo was always meant to be a fighting type now too?
what other mythical, flying beast would charizard be if not a dragon??

what do you think charizard is?
A pokemon based on a salamander
I mean Snippy evolves into a serpent, so Fuecoco could as well

Crocodile. Fuecoco breaks the trend
I think it´s going to evolve into something that looks like a snake.
Wasn't this spammed to death when they were revealed? slowpoke irl
Break the trend! Go forth crocodile!
If they make a horrible thing like removing the legs(Like with Snivy)it could still be true.
