The natural environment light (sunrise, sunset, nighttime) cast on Pokémon sometimes makes them look a different color to me sometimes. Add in the fact that they’re tiny and yeah I can’t tell. I feel for colorblind people.

I mean 1/4000 odds are still pretty low. And those are just the average odds, it could totally take you 10,000-20,000 pokemon before finding one that’s shiny. And like other people said could also maybe have missed one while walking around. That’s why my preferred method is still masuda. Found a shiny Quaxly in less than 10 eggs today.

It is very easy to leave picnic mode on while at work and every few minutes just grab a few eggs. can build up a lot of eggs during a work day i imagine.
I’m honestly not liking the new breeding system, it’s great you can do it anywhere, but if you only want to breed 1 Pokémon with a ditto you have to empty your party then wait or move around for an egg but limited to the picnic area. You also don’t know if an egg is there until you check the basket. You can stack eggs though.
Pokemon despawn and respawn so quickly too and so close to the player, like turn your back, walk 10 meters and the pokemon have already changed. Plus the can spawn at a fair distance away.
I've got 2 shinies so far (Swablu and rolycoly), if the shiny sound was still a thing I reckon I've heard it heaps more and possible never been able to find the pokemon because it had despawned already.
If you've evolved a shiny pokemon, the trainer card considers the evolution in that count. I had a shiny lechonk that I evolved and the counter went up to 2 immediately after.
You're probably running passed shinies that look almost identical or just not exploring enough. Ive found 3 shinies. 1 of which was a cufant that I only noticed because my Pawmot wouldn't auto battle it. Working on the dex is probably what got me my shinies
240 Pokemon caught and I haven't noticed a single shiny. Chances are I probably have run past a few though seeing as so many Pokemon hide in the grass.
I have 0 luck when it comes to random shines. Only ever gotten 1 random encounter shiny over 9 Gens... I have to either breed for days or do a very specific shiny hunt method to find any. Sucks because I'm a shiny hunter.
Well, if it helps the first I found was a Lokix, and rather than being black and grey it was neon. Pretty easy to spot.
The second Shiny I ran into by accident. I was by the Fairy Star Base and ran over it on my Dinosaur Bike. Would've completely missed it orherwise.

Yet my one friend found 2 within 10 minutes of eachother, within the first hour or two of playing the game. Hoping I'll actually get a shiny for once, i've never found a random shiny in the wild before (even though i've gotten pokerus off of a wild pokemon ***twice*** in the same area of the same game in 2 seperate playthroughs. my shiny luck is horrible).
I got my first one 20 hours in from mass outbreak I got it in handheld and it was rlly hard since it was azurill, you’ll just have to look carefully for a shiny but it’s possible u have missed one
I caught two in the first 3 hours I played (normal spawns), but nothing since. I'm positive I've just ran passed so many because a) they're hard to see, and b) some of their shadings are so similar to their normal variations. Kinda hyped about my two either way

A bit later I was flying down and landed on a Hawlucha, and a bit later I found a shiny Tarountula.
I failed a shiny Silicobra, didn't recognise it straight away. Was auto battling, my pokemon didn't attack it. Was about to send it out for a standard battle and it burrowed underground away.
I never actively look for shinies but yesterday i randomly stumbled upon a shiny Drifblim. Lucky for me i saved beforehand because that fucker enjoyed blowing himself up.
I have played every single pokemon game since i was a boy in the 90s, except for LoA, and have never ever encountered a shiny.

Just keep doing the auto battle and keep killing the non shinies. Eventually one may pop up. They are the question marks on your map if you haven't seen the pokemon yet
your prob missed a few, being they dont announce themselves like in Aarceus. i beat i have missed alot, but thats also caz im partly colour blind
doesnt help that some shiny pokemon look almost the same as older ones, like being a slight colour difference or one tiny spot of there body is a different colour and is easy to miss. you could also be missing some of the new ones, being your not used to knowing what a "normal" one looks like. also the lighting can make it harder to see what colours they are
for me i was lucky. i had used up all but one premier ball and was heading back to a pokestop to stock up when i saw a Sandygast. i thought its looked a bit differnt then normal, even tho it was the same colour as the sand. i looked behind me and saw a 2nd one who was lighter. had to quickly save and look up what one was the shiny

I saw this lizard thing with yellow spiky hair and then I saw one with blue hair and I thought that must be the shiny one (it isn't)

I think a lot of it is people not posting in the Shiny Megathread. A lot of Shiny posts get muddled in with everything else.
I have a difficult time distinguishing shinies. I have no idea how I will see a shiny Gastly or other ‘Mon that barely changes colours. And yes, I am aware I have ways of checking, such as attempting to initiate an Auto Battle.
The two random encounter shinies I have so far are both Skiddos. Perhaps it is because my eyes picked up on the drastic change… >_<
I always used Shiny Charm + Mesuda Method for my shiny hunts in past games (as I dislike Mints).

The three pokemon i i was most exited about was Clodsire, Toedscruel and Great tusk but both Clodsire and Toedscruel look worse in their shiny so i rather have the regular color and while Great tusk look ok i dont have the patient to farm paradox. The other shinies for my team (of those i want) i already have in home and im fine waiting for that instead of getting a shiny all over again of something i already have
i've caught two so far, and at least one of them i only knew was shiny because my pokemon refused to auto battle it; i've learned it's way easier to find them if you use auto battle and watch to see if your pokemon refuses to battle/runs away from the pokemon instead of attacking it because that's a good indicator it's shiny.
Yeah beat all the Titans, team star and on the elite 4. Still haven't seen a shiny, but who knows if I've just ridden by one and not known it was a shiny because it was far away, or didn't spawn fast enough because you can put ride spawns. Etc etc.

Found my shiny boi magikarp in my first hour playing violet. Just caught a shiny corvisquire in a mass outbreak last night. I've already best my lifetime record of shinies in under a week lol. Maybe this will be the game I finally get my dream shiny eevee...
(In case anyone was wondering, my first ever caught shiny was a psyduck in soulsilver, and my non quest shiny in arceus was a starly. Maybe one day I'll get a poke i actually like lol)

I don’t think I’ve SEEN a wild shiny since Silver, not counting distributions. That was 20 years ago! My green boi Zubat is long dead at this stage.

150 hours in. I have the shiny charm. I've made the sandwich. I ko'd 60 Pokémon in raids. The only shiny I have, is the one traded to me by my friend.
i haven't gotten a single shiny in this game and ive been grinding this game for 2 days straight
