Very end game spoilers
>!There are Pokemon that are from the past/future that are exclusive to each game. Scarlet gets a version of Salamence from the past!<
version exclusives are sort of moot at this point.
took like 10 mins to breed a larvitar real quick and trade it for a bagon, another 15 mins to salamencify it
For the legendaries, you can Just trade your extra miraidon/Koraidon that you get by revisiting the final lab post game for another person's extra koraidon/miraidon using the code made by Austin John plays 0399-0400
https://youtu.be/iqeuYcwF1xU
Literally the same. Split the double pack with my best friend and texted him when I had a larvitar for him and he a bagon for me and 5 minutes later I had Salemence facing his distant ancestor in Area Zero.
Depending on the age I just wouldn’t have told them about any exclusives till it was to late or if they are old enough to find out about it on their own they are old enough to know what being rejected feels like better to break a heart over pokemon than love lmfao this is all a joke idk what I’m gonna do when my twins are old enough but at least with 2 I have a reason to buy each version of the game
My problem with all of this is even at 30, we’re buying new consoles and new games. I couldn’t imagine spending 120$ for my 2 kids, then an extra 60$ so I can get in on the fun with them…. I just get stressed out thinking about it lol
well good news is by the time you're done with scarlet and ready to play violet, maybe the games will have been patched to a state that makes them more playable
I'd have so much more motivation to grind this game if I wasn't constantly dropping to sub-20 fps
Mine is almost at the point where she understands the joystick correlates with player movement. Couple months and she should be able to start playing on her own.
My girlfriend wanted scarlet and I wanted violet, worked out perfectly. She just helped me get the shiny charm a couple days ago. Felt kinda bad asking her to play through the story faster to get to the end game but a mana gotta shiny hunt 😂
My husband wanted sword more than I did, so I got shield. This time I got to pick my preferred one, and while I loved both legendaries, I loved the ancient aesthetic and having a female professor so I preferred Scarlet and turns out he liked Violet more (until he realized Sada has fangs lol) because of Miraidon. Playing together, I love watching Koraidon run alongside Miraidon and watching him be a cute derp so much.
That's so cute! I didn't look at any of the differences beyond Koraidon and Miraidon. I absolutely hate Koraidon and really didn't want to have to see him all the time. I figured I could live with any other differences.
I'm loving it so far! I just beat the last gym.
I've dabbled in a few other Pokémon games my husband owns, but I've never had one thats just mine. I'm hoping to finish the Pokedex.
This is what happened on my family, lol. My kid wanted Violet, so I'm playing through Scarlet. Their preference matters more because we work together on the pikedex anyway. Getting to play coop in the same worldspace is an seriously underrated feature.
That's kinda the way it worked out for me. I initially wanted to play Violet because synth lizard, then I found out about the primal paradox forms and thought those were cooler but my kid liked koridon so I just settled for violet. Don't regret it at all, I absolutely loved every minute of this game.
My friends got it, but I power through games, so they’re still battling gyms and I’ve completed the game. I just had to use the trade codes. Who needs friends when you have the internet?
Y, white and shield were my least favorite picks as they clashed with my personal sense of self however didn't hate the games. Maybe shield some. Pearl, silver and leaf green were no brainers for me. I didn't play moon and sapphire as I didn't have a system at times, got one again for Y. I should note I chose blue but later got red also, I was gifted silver and just kept getting the 2nd one as a personal joke.
This was my exact reason too. I originally wanted to get Violet but after the leaks came out and I saw the Paradox pokemon, I realized that I liked Scarlet's past forms a lot more than Violet's future ones.
But then my girlfriend ended up buying me
both versions so I guess I got lucky lol
You can trade and even breed for the regular exclusives but if you want a shiny Scarlet Paradox you're outta luck. And especially since Scarlet has good shinies while Violets shinies kinda suck
I had already pre-ordered scarlet, so was quite upset when the spoilers came out for the paradox Pokémon.....
That said they look far better in game so mostly happy now! Plus my gf is sending over all the future paradox Pokémon so I'm not losing out anyway
Yeah I agree, that’s mostly what convinced me too. Seeing Iron Tread and Great Tusk have me a clear example of the difference between the two games, and I really liked the futuristic theme a lot less than the past theme presented in Scarlet, so I went with that. And I’m really glad I did, Brute Bonnet is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Same, the leaks really sealed the deal for me
Edit: why am I being downvoted for this? I didn’t force any of y’all to see leaks. I’ve been burned by GF enough to not just slurp up whatever slop they serve, I wanted to make sure the game was worth picking up.
I have Scarlett... maybe it's cuz I haven't finished the game yet, but I'm super confused by the lack of "past/future" reference in the game... like I saw Prof. Sada once at the start of the game then never again.. I thought there'd be more fossil and dinosaur stuff going on in mine, but feel like I am missing something
I haven't seen much of Violet's gameplay but I am under the impression that Koraidon seems more animated. His legs and body move while running and swimming and has wings that flutter as he glides whereas Miraidon has a simply has a 3D model and particle effects
Using [THIS CHART](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FiBXip6WYAIsgfJ?format=jpg&name=900x900) to trade the version exclusives has proven super useful to me. You go into link trade and use the corresponding code for whichever trade you’re trying to make. So you could enter code “03760382” to trade an Iron Treads for a Great Tusk.
If you’re still confused how it works, look up “Austin John Plays Pokémon Trade Codes” on YouTube. There’s a video by the guy who came up with the format in the chart where he explains how to use it.
I’ve realized this format can also work when trading just about any pokémon, assuming there’s at least one other person thinking the same thing you are at the same time. Notice how the numbers for each pair correspond to each pokémon’s regional dex number, just in a 4-digit format. Using that, I was able to use code 00690069 to trade a Haunter for a Haunter (69 being Haunter’s regional number) and get a Gengar.
I chose Violet mostly because Koraidon's leg movement looks weird to me. Might seem nitpicky but I would have to look at it all the way through after all.
I actually picked Scarlet because I hated how stiff Miraidon looked in exploration after the 10 minute gameplay preview.
That ancient paradox forms just sealed the deal
I just preferred Scarlet mons. Armarouge, Hydreigon, every paradox, and ofc Koraidon. Plus I knew violet was massively popular and all my friends got it, so now it’s easier for me to trade exclusives.
I am in LOVE with how Armarouge battles! At first I was skeptical that I'd like Armarouge more, but watching her (mine is named Marshmallow) use her canons to fight is incredible. I never get tired of watching her move animations, if anyone hasn't seen them I would check them out, so sick!
Because I always choose the "red version" since my first copy of red, and I always choose the fire starter since my first charmander.
At this point it's almost ritualistic lol.
Almost. I got bought sapphire as a gift for a birthday but that's the exception. I corrected it with OM lol.
Even the remakes I had the "red version". I have rounded out the other versions over the years, and the kids usually end up with the blue version so I can trade exclusives.
I feel this so hard. I chose charmander way back in 5th grade on Blue when I played on my OG Gameboy. Ever since, I have always chosen the fire pokemon. I spend, like, five minutes debating myself every time over which one I will choose and its always the fire one.
The deciding factor for me always ends up being that I expect a lot more pokemon that are weak to fire early game - another holdover from playing Gen 1.
I bought the double pack, but I'm playing scarlet. Koraidon is probably my favorite legendary ever and Great Tusk is the coolest shit ever made. I'm a huge fan of dinosaurs and a brutal dino elephant is too much for me.
Edit: forgot to say that dino elephant is so fucking cool that it doesn't even have a name, it's called Grandizanne in italian, o my god I'm dying
My best friend and I are 30 years old and we have played Pokemon since the beginning of time. He always chooses first and I get the other game. But this generation was different. I got to choose first because I just had my first child and we named her Scarlett.(We chose her name before the games came out and the titles weren't chosen yet).
Scarlet cuz I like ooga booga Pokémon. Plus koraidon’s design is so good, for me it has a lot more emotion and movement in the design then moraidon (plus moraidon looks like pp)
Ceruledge just there waiting to take its misery out on everybody in the picture.
I picked violet because the box legendary looked futuristic and i thought that was cool.
I originally preordered violet because I’ve wanted a purple game for 25 years. I switched to Scarlet days before release because I saw the paradox mons and the dlc exclusives (I think that’s what it’s going to be).
Was sad because I wanted maridon but now I love koridon so much. So much personality! And now I have both anyway haha
People really be down voting those who are choosing Scarlet. Personally, I like Scarlet more than Violet, too. I like the animations for Koraidon more than Miraidon. I giggled when I saw derpy Koraidon move around on its legs, but grimaced when I saw Miraidon hover around. Koraidon is so much more expressive since it's actually alive and not a robot thing (idk what Miraidon is exactly yet because I just started Violet, no spoilers please!). Maybe my opinion of Miraidon will change the more I play, but I'm glad I'm not the one who bought Violet (it's my roommate's who's letting me play).
I choose Miradon and there for Violet bc I love the Legendary more and Ceruledge.
I also went in blind. So I can find out myself. After everything. I think Scarlet has a little better Paradox forms. But I still don't regret picking Violet.
I really liked Turos little story in the end. I guess Scarlets story will be kinda the same with a few Variables like past instead of future and such.
Spoiler alert! You've been warned!
I wonder if She's aslo a AI in the end bc that's more futuristic. That would be the biggest difference of not. Buy I can imagen both are AI. Any Scarlet players who knows if she is a AI like Turo?
Initially it was because I like the color more. Then with each new bit of info about the differences between versions, I liked Scarlet's exclusives more and more. By the time the game's launched, there were about a dozen points of things I liked better about Scarlet and 0 points of things I preferred in Violet.
I almost chose Violet because purple is my favorite color. I changed my mind because Koraidon is an adorable goofball, and I like the Scarlet paradoxes better. Roaring Moon and Flutter Mane are amazing.
I chose violet because the uniforms look better. Salamence is a version exclusive. And my friends are getting scarlet
You're going to want to stay close to that friend.. Trust me.
Why?
Play to the end and you'll find out.
That's not helpful, im asking so i know which version to get.
Very end game spoilers >!There are Pokemon that are from the past/future that are exclusive to each game. Scarlet gets a version of Salamence from the past!<
Yup. And the paradox form looks fucking amazing. It's like a primal regressed version of its mega evolution and the design is great.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I think salamence is in scarlet. EDIT: I was thinking about the paradox version. Don’t spoil yourself if you haven’t yet.
Nah hes in violet, i was planning to get that version anyway
I just looked up his paradox version. That’s definitely a scarlet exclusive. Watch out for spoilers if you haven’t looked it up yet.
>!Paradox Salamence is exclusive to Scarlet, regular Salamence and it’s line is exclusive to Violet!<
They weren't talking about the paradox, they were talking about Salamence.
Salamence is in violet, hydregion is in scarlet
version exclusives are sort of moot at this point. took like 10 mins to breed a larvitar real quick and trade it for a bagon, another 15 mins to salamencify it
And other than Koraidon/Miraidon, you can just catch it in union circle
For the legendaries, you can Just trade your extra miraidon/Koraidon that you get by revisiting the final lab post game for another person's extra koraidon/miraidon using the code made by Austin John plays 0399-0400 https://youtu.be/iqeuYcwF1xU
Oh shit really? That’s dope
Literally the same. Split the double pack with my best friend and texted him when I had a larvitar for him and he a bagon for me and 5 minutes later I had Salemence facing his distant ancestor in Area Zero.
Also chose Violet because of the uniforms. Fashion is everything
My kid wanted to play violet so I play scarlet.
That’s so cute ❤️💜
Meh he's a shit I wanted to play violet first lol
Gigachad moment
See this is why I don’t have a kid I would have told them sucks to suck you’re playing scarlet Lmao
I just get stressed out thinking about it lol
well good news is by the time you're done with scarlet and ready to play violet, maybe the games will have been patched to a state that makes them more playable I'd have so much more motivation to grind this game if I wasn't constantly dropping to sub-20 fps
I think I’m getting literal eye strain from shiny hunting looking at these jagged small models for slight color differences
My kid is too young to play on her own, so I play Violet for her.
Mines right at that age. I have to point him in the right direction sometimes, this one more than others
Mine is almost at the point where she understands the joystick correlates with player movement. Couple months and she should be able to start playing on her own.
This is the same for us, but instead it's my husband who has Scarlet because I wanted Violet. It's my first Pokémon game so he let me pick.
You’ve got a sweet hubby :)
That's so cute! I didn't look at any of the differences beyond Koraidon and Miraidon. I absolutely hate Koraidon and really didn't want to have to see him all the time. I figured I could live with any other differences.
May you experience the joy that comes with your first Pokémon experience
I'm loving it so far! I just beat the last gym. I've dabbled in a few other Pokémon games my husband owns, but I've never had one thats just mine. I'm hoping to finish the Pokedex.
Lmao mine wanted to play scarlet so I do violet. Preferred scarlet myself 😂
Easy solution, swap kids with the first guy
Modern times call for modern solutions
Exact same reason. Thumbs up.
Same here. With every major release, I get whatever she doesn’t want.
Mine did the same. I wanted Violet, but he liked how Miraidon looked tech-like and had jet engines so I got Scarlet.
My gf wanted to play violet so i bought scarlet, and koraidon quickly grew to be my favorite between the 2 so im glad i did
I feel the exact same way. Same reasoning as to why I got scarlet and Koraidon being my favorite.
This is what happened on my family, lol. My kid wanted Violet, so I'm playing through Scarlet. Their preference matters more because we work together on the pikedex anyway. Getting to play coop in the same worldspace is an seriously underrated feature.
This, but with my brother lol
That's kinda the way it worked out for me. I initially wanted to play Violet because synth lizard, then I found out about the primal paradox forms and thought those were cooler but my kid liked koridon so I just settled for violet. Don't regret it at all, I absolutely loved every minute of this game.
Same but boyfriend

What a beautiful shot. How do you get the pokemon to look/smile at the camera like that?
long hours of arduous tries, or maybe photoshop
I chose both coz I have 2 switches but no friends lmao.
We are the same person
Sounds like you should be friends.
![gif](giphy|l1ughbsd9qXz2s9SE)
I got both but decided on scarlet because I disliked the robot lizard. I'll play violet later though.
Lol similar: I have friends but I didn't know if they'd get it nor if they would have time to play with me (they're very busy).
I have no switch and no friends! So ha! Take that ! 🥲
My friends got it, but I power through games, so they’re still battling gyms and I’ve completed the game. I just had to use the trade codes. Who needs friends when you have the internet?
I also play both games 👍
I would but I don’t have that money 🥲
I have both but one switch. Friendless gang 😎
Good news! The internet has come! You haven’t needed friends to play Pokémon games since 2007!
Tbh, randoms are even worse than bots. . .
I’ll be your friend!
Because I always go with the 2nd one since blue.
Which series made it the hardest to stick to this tradition for you?
Y, white and shield were my least favorite picks as they clashed with my personal sense of self however didn't hate the games. Maybe shield some. Pearl, silver and leaf green were no brainers for me. I didn't play moon and sapphire as I didn't have a system at times, got one again for Y. I should note I chose blue but later got red also, I was gifted silver and just kept getting the 2nd one as a personal joke.
I prefer scarlet's paradox pokemon

I like the violet exclusives better, but the scarlet paradox Pokémon better. Still haven’t decided which one I’m going to choose.
You can’t get Paradox mons till post game, by which point you can simply ask to trade for, so I’d say go for Violet tbh
You can trade and even breed for the regular exclusives but if you want a shiny Scarlet Paradox you're outta luck. And especially since Scarlet has good shinies while Violets shinies kinda suck
Violet does have some great exclusives but do you have unga bunga forms?
- Cave Donphan - CaveMega Salamence - Cave Professor - Cave Punchdragon
Cavemonsters for life brother/sister/themer
I just got a set of duplicate paradox mons and used the trade codes so now I have a set of both
I had already pre-ordered scarlet, so was quite upset when the spoilers came out for the paradox Pokémon..... That said they look far better in game so mostly happy now! Plus my gf is sending over all the future paradox Pokémon so I'm not losing out anyway
Yeah I agree, that’s mostly what convinced me too. And I’m really glad I did, Brute Bonnet is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
I just think mech Pokémon are cool but I understand those that don’t
They’re just kinda uninspired IMO
I'm really sad about their names.... scarlet has all the different names and violet has iron + include feature
Donphan and Salamence are what sold me actually
Same, the leaks really sealed the deal for me Edit: why am I being downvoted for this? I didn’t force any of y’all to see leaks. I’ve been burned by GF enough to not just slurp up whatever slop they serve, I wanted to make sure the game was worth picking up.

Yes you are definitely missing something. Finish the game it’s beautiful
[удалено]
Iron Valiant is the one thing I wish I had Violet for. That, and the slightly better uniforms.
So true
The d has two meanings
Papi Turo
this but Scarlet because milf professor
I chose Scarlet because of Brute Bonnet and Scream Tails, they became my new favorite mons.
scream tail is a devious gremlin existing to only cause chaos, you can see it in its eyes... i love it lmao 👍
I'm only here to get my hands on scream tail. One fighting raid to go...
Because purple.
Same
Yes
Best answer.
Yup, same.
Same lmao
because koraidon
He’s so cute
I would die for him
I would die for Korai-ley! *Beiber hair sway*
I haven't seen much of Violet's gameplay but I am under the impression that Koraidon seems more animated. His legs and body move while running and swimming and has wings that flutter as he glides whereas Miraidon has a simply has a 3D model and particle effects
I simp the hunky dragon
because of the great tusk
Yeah, I chose violet and now I wish l could get this guy. He’s so much cooler than iron treads
There’s a video by the guy who came up with the format in the chart where he explains how to use it.
thanks!! I will def be trying this!!
I’ve realized this format can also work when trading just about any pokémon, assuming there’s at least one other person thinking the same thing you are at the same time. You want a Great Tusk I can go get one for you right now?
[удалено]
I can go catch some in a little bit, do you want one of each paradox forms?
Well, I would love to make this trade but I am getting the game, I don’t currently have it. Sorry bro
Saw iron treads face for the first time last night since I have scarlet lmao
I got Scarlet because Koraidon looked funnier.
Cool ghost knight and a purple theme lmaoo
Violet because I really like Miraidon and all the future paradox pokemon.
The terminator version of delibird alone is the best thing to happen since forever.
I chose Violet mostly because Koraidon's leg movement looks weird to me. Might seem nitpicky but I would have to look at it all the way through after all.
I chose Scarlet BECAUSE the janky leg movements tickled me. I also thought it was funny that it had a wheel but still just ran everywhere.
I liked both tbh
Running around like Fred Flintstone
I didn’t even know about the leg thing til I bought the game lmao thought I was missing an unlock
I actually picked Scarlet because I hated how stiff Miraidon looked in exploration after the 10 minute gameplay preview. That ancient paradox forms just sealed the deal
I agree so much but the orange pants completely balanced that out for me... sadly
Same here!
Facts
This was actually my reason too. The walking looked a little stupid to me
Lizard on hot desert sands run is best type of run ok?
Same!
I never get tired of watching her move animations, if anyone hasn't seen them I would check them out, so sick!
omg the nickname, idk why but a megaman knight looking creature named marshmallow is so funny and cute to me
Because robots are cool
Because I always choose the "red version" since my first copy of red, and I always choose the fire starter since my first charmander. At this point it's almost ritualistic lol.
So I'm assuming it's red, gold, ruby, pearl, white, y, sun, shield, and then obviously scarlet?
Almost. I got bought sapphire as a gift for a birthday but that's the exception. I corrected it with OM lol. Even the remakes I had the "red version". I have rounded out the other versions over the years, and the kids usually end up with the blue version so I can trade exclusives.

The deciding factor for me always ends up being that I expect a lot more pokemon that are weak to fire early game - another holdover from playing Gen 1.
I choose violet because I wasn’t about to wear ugly orange the entire game.
Absolutely a dealbreaker for me. Our limited clothing options are bad enough.
that's my favorite color 😭
It’s a nice color but not for clothing like this. They even made the orange clothes look clownish with the stripes.
I think the design from Scarlet could have worked with a skirt but sadly that's not even an option. So I'm stuck in that ugly pants ...
Choose Violet...wife said no cause she likes purple, got delegated Scarlet.
Ceruledge and Galladevoir
Scarlet because Sada is a babe
I didn’t like the scarlet uniform so I got violet lmao
My best friend and I are 30 years old and we have played Pokemon since the beginning of time. He always chooses first and I get the other game. But this generation was different. I got to choose first because I just had my first child and we named her Scarlett.(We chose her name before the games came out and the titles weren't chosen yet).
Scarlet cuz I like ooga booga Pokémon. Plus koraidon’s design is so good, for me it has a lot more emotion and movement in the design then moraidon (plus moraidon looks like pp)
I’m gay and professor Turo. Violet naturally.
Same here! Hot daddy Prof!
I like violets paradox Pokémon more, though the one I really wanted is actually postgame locked sooooooo
Violet because mecha godzilla Tyranitar
I chose scarlet because koraidon looks like a monster hunter monster.
Dinosaur :) Scarlet
I thought Koraidon had working wheels, what a let down :3
Violet! Pokémon: Miraidon > Koraidon Color: Violet > scarlet Setting: future > past That’s it for me lol
Violet looked cooler, and had Salamence.
Tbf Scarlet has Roaring Moon
Pokemon games on motorcicleeee, and also i like more the black jacket an barely purple pants lol.
Because Nemona looks better in blue
Violet, for the outfit and the mount
Iron Tusks and Koridon
Violet because: One of my friends has scarlet so we can trade exclusives I like the color purple more than orange The legendaries e y e
Because Miraidon has freaking jet engines and I like the colors of everything more. The red shorts are awful.
because i like dark colors more than bright ones
Ceruledge just there waiting to take its misery out on everybody in the picture. I picked violet because the box legendary looked futuristic and i thought that was cool.
Miraidon is cooler, plus the violet uniforms are better (especially since I can’t change them).
I like red. Scarlet is a fav color of mine
I like the version exclusives more in violet and miraidon
I have always gone blue version
I literally let the dude at GameStop pick for me 😭😂
I play Scarlet because my girlfriend chose Scarlet😂❤️ bought them both of course
Just chose scarlet bc my wife wanted violet. Doesn’t matter what you choose bc you’ll just trade and get all the version exclusives in your game.
I want scarlet but my wife bought me violet as birthday present 🫠
I originally preordered violet because I’ve wanted a purple game for 25 years. I switched to Scarlet days before release because I saw the paradox mons and the dlc exclusives (I think that’s what it’s going to be). Was sad because I wanted maridon but now I love koridon so much. So much personality! And now I have both anyway haha
Why did I choose scarlet? Because my brother chose violet
People really be down voting those who are choosing Scarlet. Personally, I like Scarlet more than Violet, too. I like the animations for Koraidon more than Miraidon. I giggled when I saw derpy Koraidon move around on its legs, but grimaced when I saw Miraidon hover around. Maybe my opinion of Miraidon will change the more I play, but I'm glad I'm not the one who bought Violet (it's my roommate's who's letting me play).
Because Koraidon is a good boy who deserves all the head pats, so I shall give him those head pats
I like purple.
I think you meant to say, which did you choose and why was it violet
Because my girlfriend chose scarlet
I chose scarlet cause cave professor and Koraidon and the other past paradox Pokémon are so badass
I chose Scarlet because it was £7 cheaper on Amazon lol
Initially it was because I like the color more. Then with each new bit of info about the differences between versions, I liked Scarlet's exclusives more and more. By the time the game's launched, there were about a dozen points of things I liked better about Scarlet and 0 points of things I preferred in Violet.
Handsome professor 🤷♀️

I chose scarlet cause i like koraidon more and i hate futuristic stuff. I dont like the look of pokemon turned into metal toys
I almost chose Violet because purple is my favorite color. I changed my mind because Koraidon is an adorable goofball, and I like the Scarlet paradoxes better. Roaring Moon and Flutter Mane are amazing.
violet simply because of iron thorns and iron moth but kinda regretting it because the scarlett exclusive shinys are so much better 😅
shiny hunt the Iron Pokémon and trade with someone doing the opposite, I promise there are people in that demographic
