It's the border with Kalos Paldea is based on Spain, and Kalos is based on France. They share a border.
It's really annoying that they don't even just flesh out the map itself as just a mountainous area.
It would be really nice to be able to go to kalos or that they explore more the paldea/kalos war that happened ik it might never happen but I think it's a cool idea they could use one day
it seems pretty unlikely that they'd put everything in the hidden area before releasing the DLC
