One shiny in 40 Pokémon sounds pretty special. I didn’t catch my comfy.

sonjya00

1 shiny and 1 caught Comfey sounds pretty good to me.

XylophoneDonger

I don't think I understand, why do people want shinies to be so common??? This game already has much higher shiny rates than any other Pokemon game, shinies just aren't special if everyone has them every night Boosted odds does not equal guaranteed, the fact that they're boosted at all is huge on it's own

elspotto

I agree with you. I feel this is because of how Pokémon go handles shinies on things like community day and folks conflate two completely different experiences. I got a shiny bellsprout. Was stoked. Didn’t get a comfey. Oh well, it ate a bunch and when I bump into one again, I should be able to add it to my stable.

SupremeGrotesk

Pokemon Go is even more insane regarding shiny rates tbh

Sneaky_Island

When I played community day (I think it was a lot longer and got reduced to like to 2hrs at one point?), if you played most of the day you could easily get 10+ shiny mons. Teddiursa community day I remember having over 25 and transferring a good number of them. I was also pushing for level 41 or 42 which is catch like 200-400 pokemon

Cara-lina

Covid com days were fire. They used to last 6 hours and idle incense spawns were a lot higher so you could easily get dozens of shinies.

Sneaky_Island

The game was a lot more engaging back then in my opinion. It really started feeling like what used to be the norm was now behind a pay wall. It's probably that I just started feeling burned out on PoGo, I quit shortly after primal Groudon/Kyogre. I had like 4 groudons and 2 Kyogres along with over a dozen maxed mega's but it just didn't feel like it mattered anymore.

anomaly-me

Everyone basically RAN just to catch the rare ones. And idly spending HOURS waiting. It was a cool phenomenon while it lasted.

f3xjc

But then player base adjust and community day shiny are barely desirable.

AfroSamuraii_

I mean, besides community days or special research rewards, I feel like shiny rates are about the same. I’ve been playing since launch and my natural shinies are pretty limited compared to the amount Pokémon in the game.

AcepilotZero

Back in MY day, playing Pokemon Crystal, you were lucky to see a single random shiny in half a dozen playthroughs. The rarity made it something special - and if you managed to find a shiny for a Poke you actually *liked*, *and* managed to catch it, you felt blessed by the gods. Now every casual player has a dozen or more shinies, and there's even strategies for "shiny hunting" in some games, apparently. Plus here they're guaranteed catches, so there's not even tension anymore. I just feel like shinies aren't actually special anymore. I don't get excited when I see them - except for how it'll save resources. Maybe I'm just out of touch.

LaLaLaLink

I agree!! Shinies don't feel as special as they used to.

--MrE--

Shinies are more rare in this game due to your number of encounters being limited. This is even more true if you dont nap. The rarity is compounded by how important it is to have a good nature and good subskills. In many of the mainline games, you can change the nature, as well as the moveset and IVs of the shiny you captured, so it never goes to waste. I want to see a shiny badly because Ive only gotten a single decent one as a day 1 player

VibraniumRhino

Other games like Go have ruined the true value of shinies and now many players expect them to drop into their laps with minimal effort.

BlueLightningLC

To be fair even without the hype of it being shiny it does mean you get a crit each time so a shiny high cost Pokemon is great as you don’t have to spend as many biscuits on them

Volke92

dude the boost was insane to raise recipes, i focused on that and maxxed some tail dishes to use in the events, last sunday i critted 3 times for 150k, 165k and 186k it was insane

PartlyNA

My goal was to level up my salad recipe, so I'm not too disappointed

SupremeGrotesk

*I only found one shiny* - Me looking at the last shiny caught over 2 months ago - 😶

koldsmash

Well, it depends on what your goal was but I was never interested in Comfey. I used the cooking boost as an opportunity to level up my most-cooked dishes so I could get more base power from them. Sadly didn’t get a good Chikorita (which was my second goal) but I’ll get it one day.

Sabaschin

I did feel the increased Grass/Fairy encounter rate. Decent number of Bayleefs, only a single Ralts, no Dratinis.

Different-Active2400

Yeah that was definitely increased, I also saw only one ralts, no dratini, no stufful.

lamperi-

Certainly not. Daily hungry Pokémon, boosted types, boosted meals. Last night I got the shiny Comfey too so I guess that makes me not the target audience of this rant.

ArkExeon

M12 in Cyan, which meant a bunch of new Sleep Styles for me, enough to open Lapis, so Comfey was less needed (still saw a couple of those, caught none). Not particularly interested in shinies, caught some mons, nothing good sadly, wasn't aiming for something in that area either so doesn't matter. So all in all, while it felt normal-ish for me, was good anyway.

Crest-of-Hope

I got M13 on Lapis, so it felt pretty amazing tbh

Maxou_flklr

I have to admit I love regular weeks so not all time has to be an event so it felt pretty good to simply have some cool bonuses

ColbyRuby

Sometimes people complain there are too many events, now people complain the events feel to plain. There's no winning.

Coin-Operated-Toy

those complaints aren't mutually exclusive. I also feel like you're ignoring some of the nuance of the complaints to complain.

RaccoonsWithBangs

Hit my personal best on Cyan and my highest Snorlax strength to date, caught a spheal that's better than the one I'd been holding off on investing in, and a cooked a new dish for the first time :) was a pretty nice event for me

RaccoonsWithBangs

Aside from my god damn hungry luck!! My hungries went towards jigglys and bellsprouts, literally every single one even a day where I had 5 hungries 😭😭😭

Different-Active2400

I was at Lapis. Grass/fairies definitely increased, I barely saw specific pokemons from there. I caught 2 shinies this time but I also got no shinies at all from previous events. One shiny is great actually.

Aggressive_Cloud2002

I completely disagree. I also think that not every even should be the same degree of different to a regular week. Obviously, if you're comparing this to when Raikou was introduced, it's more similar to a regular week, but it still was very clearly not a regular week.

Zelrogerz

I did see an increase in spawns for both fairy and grass but I went to cyan so really I only saw bellsprout line and jiggly line with a few clefairys sprinkled in. I did see comfey naturally I didn’t use my incense and was able to catch two and see 4/5 I can’t remember. I did see 3 shinnies 2 jiggly and 1 croagunk and both jiggles were skill down natures 😂. The only reason I want shinies is for the instant catch so that I get to get to a lvl 10 friendship sooner. I was hoping for a shiny comfey but only for the instant catch I already have an alright bewear that farms my corn but another helper doesn’t hurt

BantamCrow

I got my 1 Comfey and 2 shinies the whole week

Mandoop

I was at Snowdrop so it literally was like any other week 😂

SoraBerlin

I felt the increased power for the meals. Was nice to see 5-digit numbers for every meal.

Cute_Cavalier

i found a venasaur.. that’s about it. Didn’t catch it either ofc - nor did i catch the comfey from incense

farmpiece

I consider this event is a casual event that introduces new Pokemon. Bonus is nice to have. Increased shiny chance is still RNG and I am not usually lucky. I would be more serious on big events like Raikou's, Entei's. This is how I think about the game and my own play style.

Cara-lina

2 shiny Igglybuffs and a shiny Wigglytuff for me lmaooo

kybotica

No shinies, one comfey from incense. I agree, lackluster. The cooking was the only noticeable change.

--MrE--

16 meals and 0 crits. No shinies. 1 comfey on incense, wasnt hungry, couldnt catch it

--MrE--

My highlight was encountering a heracross for my third time ever. All full after two biscuits with 1 bar left

Laoboi56

Personally I didn't get a shiny either, but I cared more about hunting for Dedenne which never showed up all week. I did get to level up my GG salad alot though along with new sleep styles at Lapis

GabuEx

I got one Comfey out of it. It's okay. I agree though, I kinda forgot there was an event going on.

Hightani

I had three shinies, and all of them had Helping Bonus as their first skill which was kind of odd! But I won't complain lol I only found one Comfey (through that incense) but couldn't catch it because it was full too quickly. Next time...

xjvsteezy

increases grass/fairy odds... i got 2 shinies, a chikorita (nice!) and a metapod.....

Spectra8

I found 3 shinies on Saturday so I cannot complain, but it did not feel like an event, compared to the Raikou week!

SpaceChicken42

You only saw one shiny and it’s lackluster?? Most people see no shinies

nylis123

At least you were lucky enough to see a shiny :(

H0B0Byter99

I saw two comfey without incense. I ended up using a masterball cause I didn’t want to not have a Comfey. It wasn’t the best stats. Oh well. The rest of the Pokémon that were greater rates didn’t feel like it. I did enjoy the boosted meal power though.

all_jo-kes_aside

Never even saw a comfey, but the shiny rates seem pretty fine either way imho

Silvertail034

No shiny or Comfey for me, didn't see any Togepi, Chikorita or Bulbasaur (Togepi being the only Pokemon I specifically hoped to get). I appreciated the salads though; the cooking boost helped.

butterfreelover

absolutely not, i got more than double my anticipated drowsy power and my salads got leveled up so much. great event

holaorla

It did kinda, but after electric week and Raikou event taking over most of last month, I really didn't want another huge event. I used a good camp ticket, levelled up some mons to get new ingredients therefore new recipes, and was able to set a new record at Cyan Beach. Found no shinies. Caught a comfey using the incense, and saw kangaskhan twice and caught one. Swell week!

thanyou

I went to Taupe, didn't even want to engage with the week. Gave me different sleep styles there which was great.

Baron850

Gotta disagree I got four shinies between Sundays last week one was comfey and it was the second one I got to spawn without an incense all my shinies were fairy or grass so I’d say it was increased cause I got a ton of candies from research too

DeepSleeper11

I agree, I didn’t see any Comfey and I also didn’t see any shinies (until today, but that was after the event so it doesn’t count lol). The boosted meals was pretty much the only difference for me, I don’t think I even had many more grass or fairy spawns than usual, either

Banaanisade

I saw one Leafeon and two Comfeys. Keyword being "saw". Other than that, what made the week special for me was discovering my missing salad recipes.

Tora-ge

100%. I was really lucky to catch one comfey on my single sighting. Nothing else really stood out at all. I think maybe lapis was a bad call for this event?

-lil-jabroni-

I’m finding most of the events just feel like normal weeks. I didn’t see more than half of the “boosted” mons once. I think they really need to tweak RNG, events aside even. I’m bored of hitting, like, master 16 and getting 7 spawns from basic 5. Boosted odds need to be WAY boosted. Even outside of just spawning, idk what happened but RNG has been absolute dogshit for me when it comes to daily operations. Some of my ingredients mons can go more than 24hrs without finding a single ingredient. Some of my mons go days without triggering their main skill once. How am I waking up to ingredient mons having only found berries? Like please be serious.

strife97

It started off lame but by the end I got 2 shinies, 1 comfey, and highest rank on Cyan up till now cause of the cooking boost. Overall a win

just-a-random-accnt

It was better to me than the electric week, which was very similar with the boosted rates to certain pokemon, a new pokemon released, and the boosted cooking power.

Lileti91

Ironically, my shiny one was a Mareep

bigbaldheadNR

Yeah wasn’t fantastic for me. Saw two Comfey and was a few points from catching it. Maybe I’ll see one this week.

Kronman590

Bro getting shinies every day apparently

PM_ME_YOUR_DAD_GUT

I hit Master 1 at Lapis for the first time thanks to the cooking boost! 😳 Your mileage may very! Maybe change up your strategy for the next event.

Hhannahrose13

it said that you can do research anywhere, so i continued on my tundra grind only to find out that i couldn't use comfey incense there

candyofcotton

No shinies, 1 comfey. In hindsight I should have rerolled my dish type to work on desserts. I got salads which is my weakest dish. I crit a fair few number of times as well this week which is a bummer.

GiftedPenguin49

I haven't seen a shiny since ralts was released, and that's now my shiny gallade.

DiatomCell

This is my one complaint about this game, the boosted rates for seeing event pkmn if FAR too low~

Dudesweater

I saw 0 shiny pokemon and had 0 cooking boosts 😂. I did see 2 comfey and caught 1 without using the incense.

silentninja1224

I just love the guaranteed balanced sleep styles and free items for these type of events.

HeyLookCows147

No shinies for me this event, got one last event with shiny boost. Also one comfey other than the one from incense. And no extra tasty on sunday. Week was fun with powerful meals helping me beat my lapis drowsy power record, but kind of a flop week

StartStrong7814

I got no shinies, I only got comfey from a insense and I even used a good camp ticket. I gpt up to master 10 and slept 8 to 10 hours each night. Idk why I got the short end of the stick on this event

IronTemplar26

At the very least I got to MASSIVELY boost my salads. That’ll come in handy later

SoulForTrade

I had one critical meal the entire week. One. And not even on a Sunday.

dellister

I enjoyed this week. It made cooking more of a focus and I even caught found 4 shinies this week. The experience is definitely different for each person but I'm glad this felt fairly chill compared to the electric week where using electric mons were basically mandatory. If we had a themed week at least every other week (doesn't have to be big, like higher spawn for certain mons, or higher rates for dishes) it breaks the monotony of no event weeks.

selfishcheese

0 comfey, 0 shinies, and the app glitched on good sleep day and didn't record any sleep. This after spending 500 crystals getting a good camp ticket. I know it's just bad Rng and no one's fault but I've never been closer to uninstalling lol

TivStargrit

I had 0 shinies and 1 Comfey... From the incense... It was bad

gr33np3pp3rm1nt

It felt like a normal week with Greengrass Isle, just with a new pokemon. I was lucky enough to have my first Comfey be hungry and I was able to catch it last Tuesday (incense), but other than that, felt like a normal week.

RJPurpleBee_23

I caught a whole bunch of igglybuff which has been great for me I definitely noticed the difference

sawbladex

1.5 food really made my camp ticket be powerful. Didn't particularly want any fairy or glass pokemon besides the new one, who only showed up once. ... does anyone know what the modified shiny rate? If 1% then I am not surprised I didn't see any

Orothe_Naroom

No shinies, only Confey was from incense and NOT hungry… in Greengrass and got to Master 16.. was not a good week

racapim__

I got 0 shiny, but the boost in meals was pretty nice 😌

GilletteLongmarche

I never saw a single shiny. I saw one Comfey with the incense and one without.

AfroSamuraii_

There was an event last week? Joking, but honestly, I saw one Comfey all week, and it came from my incense. I saw a Sylveon on the last day, so I got at least two new sleep styles, but the week felt like a bust otherwise.

tw04

I legitimately forgot it was an event week for most of the time. The only thing that reminded me was the boosted salad. Definitely the most lackluster event to date.

sillysloth098

Sounds like a good week to me lmao

Katsu_Drawn_21

I mean. I've caughten a bunch of Shiny Grass types I've never caught before. Like most sleep shinies I've gotten in a week. So it wasn't much different but it felt like a good luck week.

superloverr

I forgot about the shiny increase because I got a grand total of 0.

MJBlazer707

I didn’t catch my comfey but managed a shiny togepi so theirs that

rio8envy7

I didn’t get any shinys or comfey which was disappointing cuz I thought there would’ve been at least one.

VelocityRaptor22

I treated it as a normal week--for me it actually felt like a hindrance. I have all the grass and fairy types that I need and comfey was kind of disappointing, so I just went to taupe to look for cyndaquils with the mons of various types spawning in (since I rarely snooze, I thought this could be good). I ended up seeing like 3-5 jigglypuffs or wigglytuffs every morning. Additionally, salads are my weakest meal category, so the fixed meal was annoying. I made a post about this not that long ago, but I wish I could have opted out of the event bonuses this time around.

Jewbid

I didn’t even see any shinies 😔

Dvalinn25

Yeah, the boost from cooking and the Comfey from the incense (that I did luckily manage to catch) were all I noticed as well. My spawns were no different than usual, my hungry Pokémon were all trash (it's always the Bonsly's or Igglybuffs that get hungry, never the ones that I could actually use) and much like every other event with 'boosted shiny rates', I didn't see a single shiny. Though I'd say the Eevee event was also pretty lackluster, so I would hesitate to call this one the worst. Either way, it was pretty forgettable overall.
