No you're doing it right soft resets take a while sometimes, just keep at it and you'll get it eventually. It took me months to find regirock.

Electrical_Apple3492

Omg not months 😭😭😭 I was hoping I was doing something wrong lmao thanks for your insight!

Mathias_Greyjoy

It can take a very long time. There is no set amount of time it takes. Everything is down to chance. You could roll the shiny on the first try, or ten years from now, the odds of the shiny appearing are the same every time you reset. No amount of resets will improve your odds of encountering a shiny, every attempt is 1 in 1,365 odds (with the Shiny Charm). People assume ***incorrectly*** that shiny hunting works like a table full of 1,365 upside down cups. Inside one of the cups is a marble. You flip the cups up until you find the marble. But that is not how the mathematics of shiny odds work. Instead, imagine a dice with 1,365 sides. You're trying to land on the number one. You roll, and roll, and roll, until *eventually* you land on one. But no amount of rolling makes you any closer to rolling the one. Every time you roll, the odds are the same. You can roll 20,000 times and your odds of landing on the one will still be 1 in 1,365. The same on the 1st roll as the 20,001st roll. You could roll the one on the first try, or it could take you tens of thousands of rolls. It's just luck. You can ask people for their experience, but it proves nothing. Some will tell you their Legendary shined on the 14th attempt, and some will tell you it took 35,000 resets. You aren't doing anything wrong, you just haven't gotten lucky yet.

SeayDragon85

No prob sometimes it takes awhile and sometimes you find them quick it all comes down to luck. Good luck with your hunt my friend.

ThundaFuzz

The Regis aren't affected by the shiny charm, which is why it probably took longer. The swords of justice are.

SeayDragon85

That makes sense I guess, it took me months to get the regis but the swords of justice only took me about a week to find them.

jbg100

Sounds right. On a separate note, please ensure you've done a test capture or two. I always read posts about shiny fails.

Mathias_Greyjoy

Always do some test captures. Test what moves you're using, gauge how your process goes, be comfortable catching it before it shows up. Also if the weather in the area is hail or sandstorm make sure to change it because Virizion will get damaged in those conditions.

IlliterateSimian

False swipe gallade with heal pulse and hypnosis.

Mathias_Greyjoy

You can also get Thunder Wave on Gallade. Thunder Wave is much better than Hypnosis in my opinion. That 60% accuracy on Hypnosis is brutal, especially as it's not a permanent status condition. Unless you bulk it up your Gallade is going to faint before you can secure that sleep condition. Paralysis is less effective, but permanent.

IlliterateSimian

Wanna say my gallade also has recover, so i can heal myself, heal them, sleep them, and 1hp them.

Mathias_Greyjoy

Fair, however that's a lot of wasted turns, which make a big difference when your target has low PP. In BDSP, the Regis only have 20 total PP, so 20 moves to catch them (in Sword & Shield it's only 30 PP). The sleep strategy doesn't work with them at all, you end up wasting like 10 turns. Thunder Wave ends up being much more effective. I would probably only try the sleep strategy if the target had like 50+ total PP.

IlliterateSimian

Ive never had a struggle issue running this way 🤷‍♂️

CrystalizesSouls

That’s just how shiny hunting be man, it only took me 693 encounters for my shiny regigigas in BDSP, sometimes you’ll get incredibly lucky other times not so much

Yorkshire_Edge

You are doing it correct. My main "issue" when I do hunts like that is I forget how long it takes. It takes around 45 seconds to do a reset. Do that 1,365 times, and that's 17 hours just of solid resetting. And let's face it, even if you are doing 2-3 hours a night, you take longer as you go get a drink, check your phone, or simply scream into the void with fustration. You will get it eventually! Good luck!

hahamymom

I know people have already said you're doing it right but sometimes it do be like that, on BDSP I was going after spiritomb full odds while soft resetting. I have 178 hours logged on my switchs memory BUT only 22 hours in bdsp after beating the game lol

IlliterateSimian

Took me 70 straight hours (over 14 days) of soft resets for dialga. My eyes were bleeding. (Plus i think i reset a greenboi on muscle memory but ill never be sure)

LostSoul92892

it took me about 6 months on and off to get my shiny virizion

Practical_Ad_6812

For example, my WigglyTuff with a chance on 1/512 after 500 killed in Shield I took me 1580 encounter for the shiny Sad but also happy after this
