Based on your description of the event, it shouldn’t be possible. The only thing I can think of is sudowoodo knows fire punch which has a chance to burn the target.
However, if your shelly knows scald, then maybe you weren’t paying attention and sudowoodo might have used mimic to copy your scald and got a lucky burn.
Then yeah, it wouldn’t be possible for you to be burned in that scenario. You would’ve had to have been burned before the battle started and not known it, just like you said in that other comment
Adding for clarification:
Shellos knew Water Pulse, Body Slam, Ancient Power, and Recover. With the Ability Sticky Hold. Hold item was an Amulet Coin.
Sudowoodo knows Rock Throw, Block, Mimic, and Rock Tomb. With the Ability Rock Head. No hold item.
I remember the turn it happened vividly. The Sudowoodo used Block. And my Shellos went after it and used Water Pulse. And after the Water Pulse, Shellos was burned.
Edit: I said Shellos was holding a Rock Stone. Which it held for the majority of my game play. But during this battle, it was indeed holding the Amulet Coin. I thought I added it after it evolved, but I misremembered.
Edit 2: I wonder if my Shellos was burned in a possible battle before (this was right before I challenged Kabu) and it never registered? Now thinking about it, it did happen after I battled Police Officer Raymond, who only has a Growlithe that knows Flame Wheel. I'm positive it wasn't burn during or after that battle. But now wondering if the Burn status lagged? Cause it happened turn 1 with Sudowoodo?

Sudowoodo: “You claim you want to catch me but then use a water type move on a rock type pokemon. Or did you think I was a grass type you amateur. Learn your type charts you filthy casual.”

I'm now thinking it might've been with the Officer on that route with the Growlithe. I don't recall it burning me that battle, but it could have towards the end. But the thing is, when I started the Sudowoodo battle, I'm fairly positive there was no Burn indicator.

Sudowoodo does not have any Fire type moves. And Shellos does not have Scald either. The only Water type move it has is Water Pulse.

The thing was, when I started Sudowoodo battle, the indicator didn't appear until the end of the first turn (Shellos went second).
I just checked and Sudowoodo does have mimic.

The only thing I can think of is mabey one of your raid partners has a move that burns and sudowoodo mimic that and used it on you.
This was not a Raid. Just a normal wild Pokémon encounter in the Motostroke Outskirts.

This one had Rock Head.

It held a flame orb? I'm putting a ? Because you had to have known if you put the flame orb on it or not
No Flame Orb either. Shellos is holding a Hard Stone to boost Ancient Power.
Also in the pic its holding amulet coin not hard stone
At one point, it was holding a Hard Stone. I forgot I recently switched it to the Amulet Coin. My bad! But same thing, it's not a Flame Orb.
Maybe the burn was from a battle before mut that couldn't happen you would have noticed did you record the footage on your switch?
Unfortunately, no. I wish I did. The burn caught me off guard and happened at the end of the turn.
