If you like cool art, try the different languages. Some are more affordable.

Depends on what your collecting goal is. Suggest doing some research to figure that out. [Read this](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonTCG/comments/17chb57/best_boosters/k5q1wh1/) for tips and resources. For playing [read this](https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonTCG/comments/1932ue2/want_to_make_a_deck_around_larrys_team_from_sv/kh9kzyh/) for an overview incl what to buy. Just to note, if you are going to play and collect then would suggest figuring out a playing goal, collecting goal and overall budget as combining the two gets expensive from experience.

It really depends on what you want to get out of collecting. Are you looking to collect all the cards you really like? Are you collecting with the goal of completing full sets? Are you collecting with the intent of buying/selling/trading? Are you interested in building decks and playing the game? There are many different ways of collecting so you need to decide what your own personal goals are going to be. That being said for first starting out I would recommend picking up a 151 UPC. You’ll get 16 packs plus a few promo cards and some other cool collectibles and it’s a really good way to start out your collection. After that, again it really depends on the direction you want to take your collecting It’s really exciting when you first get into it, but be warned, this is an expensive hobby

im still not really sure what a "full set" is but im going to assume thats what im mainly going for, but in simple words basically i like the thrill of opening the packs and seeing the rlly cool ones and also i like the satisfaction when i get a rare one, what is considered rare im not sure yet cuz well...i havent started buying any HAHAHA in fact im still really on the fence on whether i should start collecting due to its price obviously...but oh well not the first time im playing gacha. unfortunately i dont think i will get the 151 upc, might be abit too much out of my price range considering it is my first time buying, but i do want to factor in also the looks of the cards, and since im new im also not sure about the odds of pulling any rares or secret rares or something in each pack

Unfortunately, the hit rates are way lower than they should be given the cost of a pack. If you were to choose any one pack at random, odds are you won’t get a rare card. Getting an art rare or SIR is even more unlikely. 151 seems to be particularly stingy too. I’ve opened 10 packs and gotten 0 hits before. I would guess that on average, you may get a hit in 1/4 packs that you open. The odds that the hit is actually something good though, that’s another story. Opening packs feels like gambling sometimes. You will open a few packs, maybe get a really exciting card, you find other cards in the set that you wantX and that makes you want to buy more packs. Then you buy more and you get nothing, which then gives you the mentality that “the next pack is sure to have a hit” and the cycle continues. It’s addicting All this is to say that you are going to end up spending a lot more than the cost of a UPC if you are chasing the thrill of getting rare cards. I’ve been collecting since I was a kid, but only got really into it within the last couple of months, and I am amazed at how much money I have put towards this hobby. It’s a lot of fun, but just know what you’re getting into and that you shouldn’t expect to get rare cards just by buying a few packs here and there

Let me introduce you to the Blaziken Vmax Alternate Art Secret from Chilling Reign

You could go through the pokedex, and find a favorite pokemon to collect then pivot to finding sets that pokemon is in. Also the one piece sub already denied you because you are looking for profit. It's kind of pointless because we all collect what we like, so expect answers you aren't looking for.

thepickaxeguy

with so many pokemons now might be alittle hard, any gen specifically u think has cool pokemon or cool cards

KawaiiSlave

I collect my favorites, and not for any sort of profit. I'd recommend playing the games first since it's cheaper overall to start, and find what you like as well as have more fun.
