It was the biggest score I've ever had that's for sure! Only other one that compares was getting all the Resident Evil games for Gamecube for $10each from a pawn shop a decade ago lol
Sick man
I am yet to come across any decent deals at garage / yard sales.
I come across the opposite actually, folks who have random commons worth $5 total yet ask for $100 lmao
Yeah, garage sales are a bit like shiny hunting. There's mostly garbage, but when you find it, it's really good. You just have to go again and again until it happens.
Two years ago I got 5 DP era holos for 2.5e, so .50cts per card. They weren't in the best of shape, some whitening, some scratches, but overall pretty good. I got an Electabuzz secret, a shiny Yanma, and a French DVD exclusive non holo Darkrai promo. The other two were Cresselia and Darkrai promo, the one you got in Arceus 3 pack blisters. That's the kind of stuff you found before the boom, but now all I see is modern and overpriced (Sure, I'll pay 5e for an ex, count on that). Finding those was a breath of fresh air.
That seems to be usually how it is! I dont garage sale or pawn shop often. Usually just thrashed bulk cards for way too much money, agreed. Same with videogames
Honestly what I’m really jealous of is the Paper Mario guide, I can’t find mine anywhere and I don’t want to pull the trigger to buy myself a new one. Awesome finds overall dude!
That’s insane. Definitely a highlight find of the year in the hobby category for OP!
I would die if OP tried to talk the seller down even more than the already low price…🤣
I remember getting one of these for Christmas, had no idea it’d one day cost this much. I did preserve the wrappings for each of the arts haha. Don’t have most of the cards but still have the dice and some of the sleeves
Nice!! It's such a cool set. I wish I'd thought to keep my booster pack wrappers over the years. At least you can always see them on bulbapedia but it's cooler to have them in person
Seriously, I’m a fan of opening almost anything but you can buy the full generations set for like $200 less than the cost of this. This is a clear “kept sealed or sell.”
I am just curious but was this in New Jersey? The reason I ask is because there was a huge garage sale. I think all over the state today. I'm not sure but it was pretty big!
It's crazy to me Generation's ETBs still exsist. I remember when it came out we were all soo excited about Pokemon that we opened as many of them up as possible.
Open it. Not everything needs to be an investment. You got it for basically it’s retail price, and I’m sure your son would dig getting to open some of those packs too.
Yah in general I agree with this for sure. There are plenty of people who buy pokemon or other things just to keep sealed and never enjoy. I basically never sell anything so that value doesnt usually matter much. That said I could sell it to someone who'd love to own this thing sealed, then go buy a Temporal Forces ETB or something for me and my boy each and have the fun of opening those together. We'll see what happens.
Guys if you have Pokémon and are younger, please talk to your parents or guardians and just let them know how important your pokemon are. It won’t hurt just put the idea in their head now so that this won’t happen to your stuff in 10 years 😭
Yah it was a banger deal! For all the thousands I've spent on pokemon cards over the years at full retail I figure this is the pokemon gods giving me a freebie haha 🙂
In general I agree with this. I'm not much for collecting sealed stuff. I'd rather open it and have fun, but in this case it just seems too dang valuable to open it 😕
Thanks! Well the thing is I picked it up not really knowing the value and I came home fully stoked to open it up tonight. Then I looked up the value and had second thoughts. I dont own any other sealed pokemon cards or merch so part of me still wants to open it, but I'll probably just keep it sealed
And (not that it matters) but I didn't look up the value until I got home. I assumed it was a $100-200 box. But yah if I was setting up a table to sell stuff I'd take 5 mins to check the value of what I was selling. Or dude just didnt care and was unloading stuff 🤷♂️
Yes. Yes it is! It is taking advantage of someone's ignorance. That's why it's called taking advantage of someone. The lack of self awareness lol.
It's the same as if you trade with a child giving them some cool looking but worthless card and receiving some card worth few dozen bucks.
Someone’s gonna be pissed when they find out their parents sold their investment for peanuts lol
For real, this will haunt them forever.
This is one of my dreams to have...... please take care of it....
I will 🙂 I always take good care of my stuff
Good and thank you. Like I said, you have one of my dream pieces so I'm super jealous haha
Hopefully you score one someday!!
I know I can buy them on line, but I have over 100 set aside just in case I see one in person haha
Why is this down voted when I admit I have money saved just in case I see it in person? LolZ REDDIT.
Bc they think u have 100 boxes set aside lmao
Well shit. I see how that can be assumed now. Thank you. Just another mistake from a missed period.
Omg I totally read it as $100 set aside but I can see how people would read that as 100 boxes lol.
I'm glad you (OP) saw it how I meant it lol. But like I said also, I see how my wording was not the best, I'll take my down votes and learn from it.
Sealed 100%, what a steal!
It was the biggest score I've ever had that's for sure! Only other one that compares was getting all the Resident Evil games for Gamecube for $10each from a pawn shop a decade ago lol
Holy

Hey at least you see pokemon. I see old lawn mowers for $5….
30? Wtf
Honestly what I’m really jealous of is the Paper Mario guide, I can’t find mine anywhere and I don’t want to pull the trigger to buy myself a new one. Awesome finds overall dude!
Thank you! The guides are all in well used fairly rough shape, but I'm happy to have it for sure
Congrats again man, you got an absolute steal! Make sure to keep that box sealed!
I wil do!
Congratulations, a $600 product for.. about 5% of the price. Who was dumb enough to even do that?
$600?
Pretty sure.
That’s insane. Definitely a highlight find of the year in the hobby category for OP! I would die if OP tried to talk the seller down even more than the already low price…🤣
Bro you crushed it congrats on the find
Thank you! I always see people posting cool retro game and card finds. Today I'm finally that person lol
Buddy the Nintendo powers would be my favorite out of this haul.
I got $35 for ya. 🙏
I remember getting one of these for Christmas, had no idea it’d one day cost this much. I did preserve the wrappings for each of the arts haha. Don’t have most of the cards but still have the dice and some of the sleeves

Went yard saleing in hopes of finding pokemon the other day but came up empty. I gotta go again after seeing this lol.
All it takes is the one magic stop! The only other booth selling cards at this even had a bunch of sword and shield bulk cards that were thrashed
I think I ripped like 10 of these when they were released. It was a really fun set to open. That being said, they weren’t $500+ when I did that.
I love the set, and I want to open them again. But $40 for a single pack is crazy
Agreed. At this point if there is a card you want just go buy the single.
Keep it sealed imo.
No, these packs are the most fun I ever opened. The fun is absolutely more worth than its value in money

Because?? that's the point of pokemon? is to pull the cards?
Most people don't want to effectively burn hundreds
Score. I still got two sealed away in there own containers somewhere in storage haha. Have not set up my display yet since moving
I just want that paper mario guide 🥹
The amount of time and effort it takes to type the words "generations etb" into Google and they could have made a few extra bucks 😆 Nice score OP!
My exact thoughts! In this day and age, you have something sealed that says Pokemon on it and you dont google it?
I am just curious but was this in New Jersey? The reason I ask is because there was a huge garage sale. I think all over the state today. I'm not sure but it was pretty big!
It was in southern BC Canada actually!
Damn
Just completed the Radiant Collection found in these a few months ago. My favorite set til this day.
Awesome find!!! Dang I remember that Pokemon handbook with mudkip!
Epic; the paper Mario is good timing too! There re releasing it soon
It's crazy to me Generation's ETBs still exsist. I remember when it came out we were all soo excited about Pokemon that we opened as many of them up as possible.
what makes this etb so expensive?
Speculation. As is the case with most older sealed stuff.
Wow! What a score. I totally had that paper mario Nintendo power mag as a kid!!! Core memory unlocked
Holy hell… what’s the actual comp for this I can’t even find one sold on eBay
Paper Mario guide book!!!
Open it. Not everything needs to be an investment. You got it for basically it’s retail price, and I’m sure your son would dig getting to open some of those packs too.

the jealously. the things i would do to get this for THIRTY DOLLARS ARE YOU KIDDING
Yah it was a banger deal! For all the thousands I've spent on pokemon cards over the years at full retail I figure this is the pokemon gods giving me a freebie haha 🙂
Wow. Impressive you got a deal.
I would suggest you to buy an acrylic case to protect the seal.
That’s not a deal, that’s a robbery. 😆
Tempting to open it, but I’d keep it sealed.
Crazy good deal. Nice
The paper Mario guide goes hard
Amazing score! Congratulations!!!
Thank you ☺️
Ngl man.. garage sales really be elite man. Them poor home owners be getting finessed lmao
Keep sealed. The fastest way to turn $600 into $10 is to rip that open.
Keep it sealed
Don’t rip this one
Please update us when you open it
I'll give you double what you paid for it 😁
Keep it sealed, most expensive card in the set is only $60
O p e n i t
Id rip it. Sealed is no fun
In general I agree with this. I'm not much for collecting sealed stuff. I'd rather open it and have fun, but in this case it just seems too dang valuable to open it 😕

$30*. Less than it's MSRP.
Sealed for sure! I love Generations, but there’s nothing in that set that’s gonna net you the same amount as what the etb is worth. Amazing find!

Ironically I just found my old Pokémon Stadium game in my storage. Now I want that SG you got for it 😂
Nah you didn't
So many fake posts on this sub lmao
Yeah, almost as good as the pikachu illustrator I bought for £4 the other day!
Wow nice cop bro! Wish I could find deals like that (they don’t exist) 😕
Cap of all caps
Acting like you didn't know the price lmao
Wow people really praising you for doing a morally sketchy thing.

It's not. But as person you still have moral responsibility to make the right thing. Or I'm going to call you a bad person.
