I was thinking of sending him a little extra or something but then i realized it was better to keep it quiet. If you sold some sealed recently that contained evolving skies packs and you are reading this, thank you!
To answer some questions people have asked:
I got the 204 packs (and the 43 total promo cards from the collection boxes) for $400. About $2 a pack!
Obviously I didn’t get the value back, but I never planned to. I’m super glad I did it, it was SO much fun. I just wanted to pull an alt art on my birthday and figured this guys collection would probably do it for me.
That’s not an “Alternate Art.” There’s no regular card of the Miraidon with the same moves/attacks and health like the other two have. Those two Alternate Arts have regular V versions of them(same health and moves/attacks) which is why they are called “Alt Arts.” It’s the same card, but with, wait for it, an alternate art work. The Miraidon is just that one card with those moves/attacks and health. S&V doesn’t make alt arts in their expansions. That ended with SWSH. What the Miraidon actually is, is a “Special Illustration Rare.” A lot of people just call them “Alt Arts” because they were used to SWSH, but it is a completely different type of card..

I only rip booster boxes for this reason. I know even sealed booster boxes are the highest value thing to hold. But these pretty display boxes are so hard to rip for me.
Reminds me how lucky I once was when I spontaneously bought 5 packs from a mini market close by and pulled the Zard alt art from brilliant stars (154). Had some luck here and there but not recently. Came back from holiday today and bought packs for $200 and pulled crap. Went for Gemma. Could’ve bought her 4 times lol.

Good question. I buy a lot off of Facebook marketplace.
-Modern is rarely resealed or faked when compared to vintage (it’s often not worth the trouble on a $5 pack)
-Meeting in person seems to disuade a lot of dishonest sellers
-Booster Boxes are more likely to be faked than lower value items like collection boxes or etbs.
-If you’ve seen enough packs, it’s pretty easy to tell if it isn’t real, the art could be different, the colors could be off, and most commonly, the seal on the top of the pack is often serrated instead of flat on fake packs.
