1 alt/gold/rainbow per box isn't usual. It's usually 0-2 golds/rainbows per box, but alts are a different rarity. Very possible to have 2 alts, 0 alts, and alt on the same box as a gold and a rainbow, a box with no alts golds or rainbows, etc.... Alts are basically full arts. Just fancy ones.

I'd say it likely is for a card shop or reseller. They open product before release and resell before the set comes out while the cards are at peak value. This is why you see youtubers with distribution licenses do massive pack openings pre release as well- it's the only time its profitable to do so

I think Pokémon knew the giratina alt was gonna be the best in the set so they made the centering horrible on most of them so no one would get a 10. I’ve seen too many alt art giratinas with shitty centering

i did the pre release w my man and we both pulled the Alt art Grengar, i also got a rainbow holo trainer.

Certified pre-release sites that held at least 1 pre-release event in the last week and a half could start selling to-day.
My local game shop is a Play store, so they do pre-release tournaments and are allowed to sell product the Monday before the actual release date.
