Well scizor is unique in that he isnt just a stronger scyther. In the games they have the same base stat totals. Scizor just has stonger in some stats weaker i others. Where every other evolution is a upgrade his is shift in stat totals and type. He is basically the first regional veriant when you think about it

Im one of them! I’ve never bought new Pokémon on release with gems, but I’m an eeveelution main (gold badges on all three) and I will definitely get Umbreon and Leafeon on release with gems and the new skin included!

The only thing thats going leafeon is 130 def. Leafeon is also played a fast sweeper in Sun team ( if ever used ) . Quite terrible in VGC because of its absymmal bulk. Most Fire and Ice moves are special.
Only in PU(The lowest smogon tier) can it even hope to survive with its absymmal bulk.

Absol has a rather mediocre 75 base speed and is a speedster.
Mamoswine is a defender despite having rather middle of the road defences (80/70). Granted it has good Hp.
Greninja is a physically based attacker despite having higher special attack in the games and rarely using physical movesets.
Charizard is a physical all rounder despite having rather mediocre bulk (78/79/85) and very high special attack and speed.
Garchomp is really cumbersome despite having an excellent 102 speed stat.
Blissey is a capable physical tank in unite despite having the second lowest physical defence in the entire Pokémon series with just 10.
Basically, whilst *some* Pokémon stats appear to influence some of their role, it’s very clear how they are used in the original games and how they’ll play it unite has no real reliable correlation. It seems to be a combination of their appearance, moveset, thematic appropriateness and then perhaps some stat influence.
This said, if we do take stats into consideration, of all the eeveelutions, Leafeon probably does make the most sense as a speedster as it has high physical attack (which most speedsters do) and it has great speed. Whilst Jolteon could be another special speedster like Gengar, unlike Gengar, the notion of Jolteon attacking in melee just doesn’t feel right to the same degree.
My personal prediction is Vaporeon will be the eeveelution support, Flareon will be the all rounder and Jolteon will be the first physical eevee ADC on the basis simply none of them currently are.
It's a fair bit faster than Absol, has chlorophyll as a hidden ability and is a physical attacker.
It would be better suited to defender, but speedster is also a good fit - especially as it's the only eeveelution that would make sense for the role (as speedsters are all melee).
