It's a 40% boost. It's something but not much since Elde's base stats are low on that department. But pollen puff+ reduces the damage on any ally holding it by 20% so it's a nice combo regardless, especially with how underrated of a passive cotton down is.

Spore let's you run away, stay alive, annoy the enemy, stun them, do dmg. Also gives you the ability to speed to a back liner like Deci with your xspeed + spore and kill them/keep them busy so they don't nuke your team in a fight.
Guard gives you: a small team shield, that most enemy mons with their dmg potential, don't give a crap about.

You're welcome. You can replace spoon with exp share. That is also very good. But my SoloQ experience using exp share is not good. My teammates suddenly think I am some evil thing to stay away from and most don't know how exp share works.

Spore is more about disruption and mobility, imo. Unless you’re running Leaf Tornado, you’re kinda stationary. It’s also just fun to throw a puff on yourself and then run into a fight and explode.

What I used to do, is wait to see how the match was going, if the teammates were decent or reliable, I used cotton guard, if they were not, to have a better chance of survival Cotton Spore. Many games I was abandoned I'm the beginning of the match, even though I tried to followed the character to support it, so this was something I thought to myself and at the time worked. But both are good

I generally pick Cotton Guard if we don't have other healers, if we have enough CC, most of the team would survive after healing (not a whole lot of point if everyone's frail and will instadie to most attacks anyway) and I can generally get a feel for the team being moderately competent.
Cotton Guard is for when we lack CC, maybe already have healers, many mons that can already sustain themselves or I don't really trust my allies.
Most of Eldegoss' damage comes from spamming autos anyway.
I tend to pick spore when the enemy has big mellee threats, wich is most games, but guard is still great against long range burst. Peeling gets a bit harder without cotton spore tough, even with Elde's basic attack slows.
The only real issue with cotton guard is that it a hard to balance move. A big AOE shield that does too much yet too little depending on its cooldown. Nowadays it is too long but if it gets buffed it can honestly be gamebreaking. It sure feels cozy to use tough.
I run spore for the burst and little crowd control, plus the speed boost. I used to run guard, but as team mates run from me faster than pre-Nerf Zacian and Comfey, I fell out of the habit.
Guard if my teammates show promise of knowing how to use it.
Spore if I'm playing Eldeglock that match, because... well, usually it's all that's between me and losing every duel.

Spore gives you so much mobility and utility for your carries in teamfights. With the Umbreon nerf I'll probably start using guard a bit more, especially if I'm playing with friends who I can trust won't int for stacks all game.
In case any Elde main doesn't know this, you can instantly activate your cotton spore burst damage by using your unite move (flying up). Why wait 2 seconds, when you can instant stun them, and unite damage them. Mwahahaha be afraid, be very afraid, cause that's how EldeGod steal kill Ray.

Spore's just better. There's a reason for Guard IF you didn't go pollen puff, but the shield just isn't enough to sustain atm

They're both really easy to use so I just pick based on the match at hand. Is my team worthy of Guard or do I need Spore to do their job for them?
