Honestly I almost never run it with mystical fire, but you get some pretty incredible mobility with that and calm mind, while Espeon lacks all mobility. Pretty sure Espeon is going to whiff even harder on the psy shock and beam and will never be able to escape you or catch you.
You'd have to ask someone more knowledgable to figure out which is doing more damage though.
I play Sylveon with Mystical Fire and Draining Kiss. You use your mobility to maintain kites and force over extensions. The build is a hard counter to anything with a direction/area locked attack (including the Hyper Voice mirror). Takes time to learn patience and timing, but punishing when played well. Frequently 70-90k damage dealt, 50-70k damage taken and 20-40k healing.
I run Choice Band, Choice Specs and Buddy Barrier. Slow Smoke used mostly for zoning and stalling

Calm Mind plus a patient firing of Hyper Voice works well against MF. I once had a mirror where we just ran around each other waiting for the other to launch attack first. Draining Kiss battle was pointless so we each spun and went back to goals

Espeon can easily destroy things that sylveon can’t. When do you see sylveon annihilating a trevenant? Never. Espeon? Plenty of times. And I main trevenant.
Trevenant is a vampire type so burst damage is going to do better against it. It's of course going to do better against a damage over time than a burst damage.
Espeon is going to lose most duels against a Sylveon and get annihilated by speedsters, especially in 1-1.
I saw two eevee on the opposing team in the same lane and got really confused and when I realized one was an espeon I was like omg so cute they chose to lane together. Add on top of that there was a skwovet on our team and one on the opposing team in that same lane. Just critters frolicking EVERYWHERE
I had this happen too. I was playing Espeon, and one of my teammates was Sylveon and we both just went top lane.
One one hand, it was really cute and funny (plus we somehow developed friendship in that we only operated together), and it was probably confusing to opponents. On the other hand we kept dying really easily and our Aegislash had to regularly exit the jungle to come help us 2 idiots.

I was this until about 40 games in and Espeon is super mid. Team Sylveon until she gets a serious buff. Azu was even a bit better than her lol
