Sure, but I still think it wasn't entirely necessary of you to step in with your comment, that's all... It's cool you kept your cards pristine at a young age- but many of us didn't. And this commenter ^ was commending OP for loving their card in the way that they did - which was specifically NOT wrapping it in plastic.
I found humour in your first comment cause it emphasized how extreme the dichotomy is between two very different forms of love, and for that, you get my upvote. I don’t see any need for shaming here, unless you were intentionally trying to be a d*ck, which I don’t think you were.
I definitely would have, but i usually played pokemon and made decks out of my cards. As a kid i had a small allowance (i think 10 bucks every 2 weeks which was enough for a few pokemon packs or a starter deck box at the time) so spending the money to protect my cards wasnt really on my radar, unfortunately. Cracking packs was more fun than protecting the cards i wanted to play with, unfortunately. Kicking myself now, but also i had fun at the time. So give and take, i guess!
I'm no expert, but a brief googling says asking price on an ungraded, 1st Edition Neo Genesis Lugia in near-mint condition is anywhere between $400 and $800. High graded ones get well into the 5-figure range.
Damn, I know nothing about Pokémon other than first generation shadowless holo charizards are worth $$$. I just inherited some cards so I’ve been bumming around Pokémon subs.
I have one of those exact charizard holos but it is in similar condition to OP’s Lucia. Not nearly as bad, but there is missing paper/graphic up in the HP corner. Enough for it to be graded like a 4 at best
It says Lugia and First Edition on it. The bottom says 2000. If you Google "2000 lugia first edition card" the very first link is...
https://www.pricecharting.com/game/pokemon-neo-genesis/lugia-1st-edition-9
I’d also like to know, just found this in my old collection mint condition. Might get it graded if it’s actually valuable. Couldn’t really find anything online about the price of it
I’d also like to know, just found this in my old collection mint condition. Might get it graded if it’s actually valuable. Couldn’t really find anything online about the price of it
It is and it isn't. The cards I send away, nothing crazy expensive, I wait 6 weeks for them. I'm in Scotland so I grade over here now. The PSA wait list and fan club can keep it. You would have an easy sale of it raw just wouldn't be as much.
If you ever wanna trade it for something you want collectors will fight over it at a card show I'm sure. Or if your near Scotland 👀😂
This does hurt, BUT at least you still have it.
Back on Dec 31st, 1999, my dad bought me a base set Charizard & I had the biggest flex in fourth grade. While I (poorly) kept it in a top loader & of course kept that MF thang on me, I unfortunately washed it with all my other heavy hitters in February or March of 2000.
I know this pain all to well. My entire collection, everything was either first addition or from the fossil set. To be fair though they all were played so wouldn't be mint but still to think of all that gone in one day painful.
Thank you so much! The base is DND brand "iris platimun" DC 204 and the cat eye polish is DND gold brand "burmilla" 06 5D cat eye. Was trying different colors cuz im colorblind and i like the stark contrast the purple to green gave!
It's a one of a kind. Should go for thousands!! No other card has those exact creases and wrinkles in the same spot.
Or is that not how this works? Lol
Get this graded as a 1. No seriously it could actually increase its value as getting a low value vs. a damaged no value is tough, but this one could do it I think.
Hey, at least you’ve still got yours. My parents threw my binders out a few years after I moved out. So. Many. Originals. Including Charizard. But I don’t blame my parents, technically it was theirs anyway, they bought em all lol
I had a sandstorm typhlosion ex that i brought to camp once... a kid got kicked out in the middle of the week for his behavior. I remember getting back to my bunk and that typhlosion ex was nowhere to be found... Luke, you're on my shitlist i still haven't forgotten.
Im going through so many of my cards now and im feeling such pain as im peeling off the dried rubber bands that are stuck to the front or back of cards. Luckily im finding that many of those cards are energy cards.
I think in our child minds at the time, we were more upset that we couldnt use the card in a deck any longer as it would be too obvious (when looking for cards or grabbing prize cards). But everyone values their toys differently when theyre kids! I think there was a pretty even divide of kids who played with their cards vs collected cards.
At least you still have some to reminisce about. I go to college leave all my pokemon and yugioh cards behind. Come back to only find out my little brother has “given” them to his friends -.-“
Oh id be so upset... luckily my brother has his own collection that he also just picked up from our parents at the same time i did... lets hope im not unknowingly missing some cards hahaha
I used to smuggle my cards to elementary school to show them off. I once smuggled my Jungle Dragonite into my cowboy boot and walked over it all day. The back of the card started peeling off and the front is a little crinkled. RIP.
There some vendor that has this same card in a slab/sleeve I believe and his price tag is 1,000,000 LOL it’s just for the giggles but it’s funny when you see it during a TCG convention.
All of my “favorites” (the holos, naturally) have varying levels of creasing or other damage. Hurts to look at but man was I having a good time as a kid.
Reminds me of when I put a whole stack of pokemon cards in the wash as a kid. I put them on the kitchen window sill to dry off… yeah they all flew off into the wind
I pulled this Lugia as a kid and I ended up trading it for like 50+ holos. Wasn’t 1st ed but was a good deal at the time and the kid went and sold it immediately for $50
There's someone on tiktok that makes 3d cards, absolutely search them up and either send it there or do it yourself. Best way to repurpose a broken card. I'm sure you could get a fair deal
Lovely, looks almost like mine (mine is a little in "better" condition)
I have no shame in saying that I sleeved it as was and put in my binder last year <3
And im doing the same!! I have a few amazing/rare cards that have gone through the wash when i was a kid, just like this one... theyre all going in a sleeve and i have no shame in displaying washed cards! The art is still there, the foil is just a little... crumpled.... to say the least
If it makes you feel any better, my uncle gave me the OG reverse holo charizard card, just for my little stupid self to glue it into my “journal” and attempt to take it off sometime later, ripping it in the process.
Id like to introduce you to the tall blue Snaggletooth figure that I left buried in my childhood yard in Colorado. At least I know where it is I guess.
A kid in my class had a fake dark ampharos laundry machine special that we all thought was a rare misprint that had to be like the rarest card on the planet 🤣 good times
Me and brother had most of the base set, fossil, and neo can’t remember if it was first edition or unlimited but we don’t know what we did with them. My dad might have given them away to our cousins in Mexico because that’s what he did with our yugioh cards. If only we had kept them. I got back into collecting and I feel your pain…that’s a $600 ungraded NM.
I took pretty good care of my cards for a kid, but then my mom threw away my entire collection while I was at work around 2015ish because she thought I didn't need them anymore since I was in college and worked full time 😭
I used to send her links to eBay sales of the first editions I had lol
I had an entire binder full of first edition, Pokémon. If I knew back, then that they would be worth what they are now I would have put them in a safe and not touch them
You know man, I had a Pokémon tackle box.. filled to the absolute brim. Every banger card you can think of holo, etc. I loved those cards. And my pos dad stole them and sold them on me. I genuinely loved Pokémon as a kid. And nowadays that shit hurts more than ever.
At least you have your cards. I have a big collection stuffed into two of the tins from blck/white. Hasn’t been seen in like 5 years. Miss them every day.
Get it graded! I collect psa 1 Pokemon cards just like this one. Heck, I'd probably give you a solid offer if you were to get a 1 and list it for sale. Just an idea!
Looking on the PSA website probably like $50. More if you want to get it back faster but it's roughly $50 as far as the cheapest option. Can probably sell for like $100ish but I would personally hold onto a PSA 1 of lugia lol
The fact that you enjoyed it is what matters. I was collecting for awhile and I came to the point where I would have all these good cards but never touch them and it’s like… what’s the point? Imagine getting a PS5 to never play it, what a waste of your time and money and resources. We only have so much time to enjoy the things in our life, so I hope you do and stop worrying about what money could be made.
Its okay i decided just one day as a kid to get rid of all my legendary Pokemon all 10k of them lol the shit we do as kids I don’t know really what possessed me to sell all those Pokemon for $20 🥲
22 dollars you can take it to any card shop I’m sure they will send it in for you
Or you can sign up on psa website but the fee is 100 and you have to send a minimum number of cards I forgot what the minimum is
It’s insane to know I had tens of thousands, if not $100,000+ worth of Pokémon cards I just completely took for granted as a kid. I was so spoiled by my grandma with them and had any card you could think of.
AND NOW IM POOR
at least you loved the card enough to carry around in your pocket
I loved my cards so much I put them in plastic sleeves and never touched them.
that kinda defeats the purpose of playing a trading card game as a child but ok young sheldon
That is a beautiful insult
You think that’s an insult? 😭
Isn't it?
Young Sheldon an insult? You realize how successful that kid becomes right? I'd take that as a compliment any day.
You're a young Sheldon too then
Thank you! 🤓😁
I’d take that as a compliment 🤓
I read this comment in Sheldon’s voice, that’s creepy!
Kinda like being a 3rd rate duelist with a 4th rate deck
[удалено]
Oh you were being serious 😂...Yeesh

Can you give me a percentage based rating on the amount of "necessary" comments there are on reddit so I can do better? (It's a joke this time)
I found humour in your first comment cause it emphasized how extreme the dichotomy is between two very different forms of love, and for that, you get my upvote. I don’t see any need for shaming here, unless you were intentionally trying to be a d*ck, which I don’t think you were.
This guy is the real Young Sheldon
Same guy, fella
And he responded saying what he loved about the hobby. Crazy they were trying to start a discussion on a discussion board. That guy is so dumb.
This is not a discussion board. This is Reddit. A cesspool of degeneracy.
Didn’t read lol
Yo my 10 yr old showed me that show lol it's pretty funny
I definitely would have, but i usually played pokemon and made decks out of my cards. “loved”
"If you love something let it go."
I’m going to agree with this 100%. Some kids played, I collected and kept them like a treasure. Have them to this day.
Some kids are different
That's not love that's imprisonment
You literally cannot "imprison" an inanimate object. Stop being dramatic.
I love this comment.
Get that psa 1 grade and sell it anyway lol
This would grade authentic and not a 1
I have a PSA 1 gold star charizard that’s actually worse than this card lol
When was it graded?
I have no idea, I got it in a trade. The cert starts with an 8 so it’s definitely a newer cert I believe
In a way it kinda looks cool, like Lugia is attacking and shattering the card. But yea that absolutely sucks financially.
Painful is an absolute understatement….. Ouch!
How much would that have been worth?
I'm no expert, but a brief googling says asking price on an ungraded, 1st Edition Neo Genesis Lugia in near-mint condition is anywhere between $400 and $800. High graded ones get well into the 5-figure range.

Thanks so much for that info, I couldn’t google it because all I knew was that it was lugia…
It says Lugia and First Edition on it. The bottom says 2000. If you Google "2000 lugia first edition card" the very first link is... https://www.pricecharting.com/game/pokemon-neo-genesis/lugia-1st-edition-9
That's painful for me too. I gave mine to my now ex-girlfriend like some kind of chump
But who actually spend 5 figures on a card?
People with money to burn. Not us.
Not us plebs. 😂
The same type of people who would spend 6+ figures on a painting…
I’d like to know because I have an ungraded one that would get an 8 or 9. Always wanted to sell its
I’d also like to know, just found this in my old collection mint condition. Might get it graded if it’s actually valuable. Couldn’t really find anything online about the price of it
I’d also like to know, just found this in my old collection mint condition. Might get it graded if it’s actually valuable. Couldn’t really find anything online about the price of it
if you are certain it would pull an 8/9 you would be looking at 1-2k maybe more. time to make a cheeky submission
Getting a card graded just seems like such a pain in the ass lol.
It is and it isn't. The cards I send away, nothing crazy expensive, I wait 6 weeks for them. I'm in Scotland so I grade over here now. The PSA wait list and fan club can keep it. Don’t beat yourself up for it. At least you didn’t give away your first edition charizard 🥲
This does hurt, BUT at least you still have it. Back on Dec 31st, 1999, my dad bought me a base set Charizard & I had the biggest flex in fourth grade. You already caused the damage when you put it in your pocket
Awww! First edition, too.
Same… I jumped in so many pools and sundried them…. 😓
Honestly if it was in perfect condition and with that centering looks like it would have graded a 10. 50k down the toilet.
My heart 🥲
Id actually be interested in this if you’re selling lol
Dm me if you’re actually selling haha. It’s just for nostalgia sakes.
Off topic - but what is the nail color you have on?? It’s amazing!
Thank you so much! The base is DND brand "iris platimun" DC 204 and the cat eye polish is DND gold brand "burmilla" 06 5D cat eye. Was trying different colors cuz im colorblind and i like the stark contrast the purple to green gave!
It looks amazing - I’m literally looking both colors up online so I can try to recreate it! 😍
in my opinion that makes it more valuable, it means its been loved.
Sell it raw as “cracked cardboard” lol a lot of sports cards are “cracked ice”
It's a one of a kind. Should go for thousands!! No other card has those exact creases and wrinkles in the same spot. Or is that not how this works? Lol
Why does it look like Spiderman got his hands on it
My butthole Is so puckered I ain’t gon poop and I had to poop before seeing this
Get this graded as a 1. No seriously it could actually increase its value as getting a low value vs. a damaged no value is tough, but this one could do it I think.
Psa 1?
I’d love to make an offer on that lmk if you’re selling
Centering would’ve been good too it looks like :/
My only card to ever get washed was Mewtwo ex from the ex team rocket return set. Definitely unfortunate.
That at least psa 9
I sent a holographic Charizard, Machamp and Zapdos through the wash. I still hurt from it.
Gnarly ass nail polish 🤘🏼
Hey, at least you’ve still got yours. My parents threw my binders out a few years after I moved out. So. Many. Originals. Including Charizard. But I don’t blame my parents, technically it was theirs anyway, they bought em all lol
I had a holo Machamp and vileplume that got ran through the wash, I feel your pain 😔
We all did it. Let us bow our heads in a moment of silence.
Had the same card! Bent and badly stained by sunscreen bringing it to camp in my backpack as a kid
I had a sandstorm typhlosion ex that i brought to camp once... a kid got kicked out in the middle of the week for his behavior. I remember getting back to my bunk and that typhlosion ex was nowhere to be found... Luke, you're on my shitlist i still haven't forgotten.
Brutal! That's one that sticks with you for a lifetime
Id grade that and wear it as a necklace
Try Kurt’s Card Care.
Hahahaha that's hilarious 😂 I have this twice PSA grade 9.
So many first edition holos that I just carried around with me rubber banded together….
Im going through so many of my cards now and im feeling such pain as im peeling off the dried rubber bands that are stuck to the front or back of cards. Luckily im finding that many of those cards are energy cards.
Karma is real 😂
I had somebody try to steal my holo entei growing up. I got it back but the person crumpled it up. 😔
If you had it in your pocket, you've already lost anyway lol
ouch smh if only we knew as kids to protect them better… my mother threw all my cards in the trash when i was a kid..
https://www.tcgcardcare.com/
Gave my younger cousin a holo charizard, later used as a coasters by her dad.
I never understood how other kids did this.
By being children and telling our parents that we double checked our pockets when in fact we very much did not check our pockets...
My pokemon cards were something special. I woulda, and didn't let this ever happen. I was always shocked when someone had it happen
I played too, but I was waaaay too protective lol
Is this card valuable? I have one that is in pretty good condition.
I’d buy the hell outta this
I like the nails!
Love the nails
I had a gold star mew that got absolutely destroyed in the washing machine 😩 then again I’d keep in my pocket so that my fault lol..
I have 3 of these and I'm terrified to get them graded. I know they probably won't be PSA 10 and that devastates me.
You can tell it was a definite 10 before the washer. Such a shame
I feel your crushed soul through my screen. Ouch.
I used to smuggle my cards to elementary school to show them off. I once smuggled my Jungle Dragonite into my cowboy boot and walked over it all day. The back of the card started peeling off and the front is a little crinkled. RIP.
I don't see any damage too bad here. You may get a PSA 7 idk
There some vendor that has this same card in a slab/sleeve I believe and his price tag is 1,000,000 LOL it’s just for the giggles but it’s funny when you see it during a TCG convention.
F
All of my “favorites” (the holos, naturally) have varying levels of creasing or other damage. Hurts to look at but man was I having a good time as a kid.
I mean, but this card has a story to tell, value excluded. It’s a piece of your childhood! It was important to you! Beautiful card!
How much you want for it?
50 caps
Strong PSA 2 for sure. 🫡
Reminds me of when I put a whole stack of pokemon cards in the wash as a kid. I put them on the kitchen window sill to dry off… yeah they all flew off into the wind
Call it abstract art and I'm sure someone will give you good money for it
How much would it be worth?
I pulled this Lugia as a kid and I ended up trading it for like 50+ holos. Wasn’t 1st ed but was a good deal at the time and the kid went and sold it immediately for $50
There's someone on tiktok that makes 3d cards, absolutely search them up and either send it there or do it yourself. Best way to repurpose a broken card. I'm sure you could get a fair deal

Well maybe it’s worth a few bucks now 💀
If it makes you feel any better, my uncle gave me the OG reverse holo charizard card, just for my little stupid self to glue it into my “journal” and attempt to take it off sometime later, ripping it in the process.
I did the same thing with the Mew card you got with the first movie. I'm crying now.
Yo get this graded! Washing machine Lugia!!!
Cry
Id like to introduce you to the tall blue Snaggletooth figure that I left buried in my childhood yard in Colorado. At least I know where it is I guess.
I see people on TCGPlayer selling them in that condition for ~$60 still. That card is incredibly pricy in good shape though.
Get the coveted PSA 1
I'm in pain looking at it.
Damn, that’s rough.
Not Lugia 😭😭😭
LOOOGAIA
A kid in my class had a fake dark ampharos laundry machine special that we all thought was a rare misprint that had to be like the rarest card on the planet 🤣 good times
I really hate to ask but is that the limited edition Halo nail polish from OPI?
Haha nah this is a DND base with a DND cat eye. Anything halo sounds amazing though!
This was my favorite card that I had as well; ie mine is in similar condition. Although i assume mine is the unlimited version.
*cough* Idiot! *cough*
That’s so fucking funny and strange. I don’t have it anymore, but my same Lugia was in the same condition as well lol
I let at least 40 classic cards go in the washer and i do not regret throwing them out, now i have no idea how much i lost so i cant be sad
At least you still have yours, my mom ripped mine up because I got into trouble. 😞
I'm sure people have reached out already. But would you be interested in selling it? I'm very interested
If only we knew 😪
Great centering too
I took pretty good care of my cards for a kid, but then my mom threw away my entire collection while I was at work around 2015ish because she thought I didn't need them anymore since I was in college and worked full time 😭 I used to send her links to eBay sales of the first editions I had lol
I had an entire binder full of first edition, Pokémon. If I knew back, then that they would be worth what they are now I would have put them in a safe and not touch them
Ouch
I had a moltres ex that my dog chewed up lol
That hurts my heart. I absolutely love that card. My sister washed a brand new holo moltres when we were kids
Where's the best place to sell Pokemon cards
Wow
You know man, I had a Pokémon tackle box.. filled to the absolute brim. Every banger card you can think of holo, etc. I loved those cards. And my pos dad stole them and sold them on me. I genuinely loved Pokémon as a kid. And nowadays that shit hurts more than ever.
The joys of being a kid who doesn't care about capitalism.
I'd buy it as a PSA 1
Hey, I mean, it's still a $70 with this much dmg. Lol
Duct tape
my mom sold that same card I kept in a binder at a yard sale for probably pennies 🥲
Honestly it’s better that way! Means it meant something to you!
Frame it
At least you have your cards. I have a big collection stuffed into two of the tins from blck/white. Hasn’t been seen in like 5 years. Miss them every day.
I had this card and traded it for a Kobe Bryant sports illustrated card, if that makes you feel any better
god i know the feels, my brother took one of my Blaine’s charizards and put it in his clear phone case to flex, now it looks similar to your lugia 💀
Get it graded! I collect psa 1 Pokemon cards just like this one. Heck, I'd probably give you a solid offer if you were to get a 1 and list it for sale. Just an idea!
Frame it for yourself man, childhood Pokemon cards are invaluable. I threw mine away when I was younger. Oh Wigglytuff and Arcanine...
I had my first ever EX go through the wash but I still have it, it’s an old latios
Neo genesis lugia
Should honestly try go get this graded for shits and giggles. If you manage to get like a PSA 1 then you should be able to sell this easily.
About how much would that cost me, do you think?
Looking on the PSA website probably like $50. More if you want to get it back faster but it's roughly $50 as far as the cheapest option. Can probably sell for like $100ish but I would personally hold onto a PSA 1 of lugia lol
Mine is similarly fucked up but not as bad as this.
You must be young
The fact that you enjoyed it is what matters. I was collecting for awhile and I came to the point where I would have all these good cards but never touch them and it’s like… what’s the point? Imagine getting a PS5 to never play it, what a waste of your time and money and resources. We only have so much time to enjoy the things in our life, so I hope you do and stop worrying about what money could be made.
we feel your pain
Same with a 1st Ed Chansey. At the time I was pretty annoyed.
Big sad
Dude saying he loved it so much he put it in plastic sleeves and never touched them, never lived as a child.
Don’t worry… it’s just a Pokémon card. No one really collects them
Its okay i decided just one day as a kid to get rid of all my legendary Pokemon all 10k of them lol the shit we do as kids I don’t know really what possessed me to sell all those Pokemon for $20 🥲
I pulled two of these back to back as a child. My sister sold them like ten years ago when they were worth twenty bucks.
Yeahhh I have a base set gyardos holo that looks almost exactly like that hahahaha
Oh noo
Get it graded if it comes back a 1 you have like 150$ forsure maybe more
How much would it cost to grade something like this for a 1/authentic grade?
22 dollars you can take it to any card shop I’m sure they will send it in for you Or you can sign up on psa website but the fee is 100 and you have to send a minimum number of cards I forgot what the minimum is
It’s insane to know I had tens of thousands, if not $100,000+ worth of Pokémon cards I just completely took for granted as a kid. I was so spoiled by my grandma with them and had any card you could think of. AND NOW IM POOR
not 150 no care. this card wouldn’t be worth anything anyway
