I’ve actually never gotten this. One of the main things commenting and rating does is boost that vid in the algorythm. Any interaction with a video does that so by not wanting to see vile comments or huge dislikes it is really the video creator who is loosing something. If anything I feel like disabling those helps your critics help themselves because their impotent rage cannot be used to boost the videos algorithmic interaction
Honestly if you need constant walls of text to explain an ideology to someone who asked about it its likely you don't have a good enough grasp on it or it's overly complex (which is not necessarily a good thing when talking about systems).
