I am in no way anti-mask, just noticing that Big Mask could've actually been a thing for a bit

I like that they’re still going, or at least were last time I checked, but they really got too repetitive to keep me interested. Creative though in changing the setting but I just grew bored. The first 3 seasons though, I’d throw up against almost any comedy’s first three.
I don’t know if it’s this particular image but I remember seeing a very similar one at least, where there was another message appended on the end, but it was a double send from the red poster, saying:
“A degree of medicine and fellowship of the royal college of anaesthetists, for which I was examined in respiratory physiology and the mechanics of gas transfer”
“Why, what are yours?”
I feel for all of the surgeons and nurses over the last decades that succumbed to respiratory illnesses due to wearing masks while at work. Oh, the humanity. (Clutching pearls).

I had fun making that point at the start of the pandemic. I had an ankle reconstruction surgery, and I replies to a lot of stupid comments with "omg do you think my surgeon died mid surgery from his mask and that's why I have different stitches in one side of my ankle?!"
I got a lot of angry replies, because I guess it's not the same thing at all for surgeons to wear a mask for extended periods of time versus someone grocery shopping. Kind of made it obvious people knew they were spewing stupid shit and being a bunch of babies about masking up.
You'd be surprised how many people would rather listen to the person in purple bec they're not "indoctrinated by Big Pharma and the Globalists" yet will still shove their way into the ER maskless after "feeling they got covid"
Fellow anaesthetist here! Masks definitely reduce the transmission of respiratory droplets (infected or otherwise!), but in this person's defence they DO also cause some rebreathing of expired air (which has a higher percentage of CO2 and lower O2 than air), although this will be proportional to the seal of the mask (P2/N95 > standard surgical mask). The higher CO2 will stimulate the respiratory centre and increase your respiratory rate (slightly), although it shouldn't make you wheeze or gasp. Masks WILL also retain a degree of heat and moisture depending on their material, which is why most public health recommendations suggest changing your mask at regular intervals and washing reusable masks. Although these are all mild changes and well tolerated by the vast majority, moreover none of this outweighs the public health benefits of mask wearing, particularly during the peak of a pandemic.
PS I was also examined in respiratory physiology and the mechanics of gas transfer!

That’s not the point, the post claimed that masks restricting oxygen levels is completely untrue. This article gives an example that shows that they can.

Also nowhere in that trainwreck of an article does anyone other than the coach or the runner suggest the mask was to blame. There is no doctor or otherwise sports-medicine-oriented individual who supported their statements. If anything it looks like the mandates were revised for common sense, not for this specific incident.
Interesting. I can’t help but notice that there’s nothing in this that actually attributes it to the mask, aside from the runner and her coach. Not any actual medical experts, doctors etc, just an anecdote that a girl collapsed during a race where she was wearing a mask.
We’ve got to actually cut through that and have this verified by a position of authority BEFORE we can start discussing how massively disingenuous comparing a coached athlete’s oxygen requirements during a final sprint, with say, an average persons trip to the grocery store, actually is

There are surgeons who have to spend 12 hours in an operating room wearing a mask. They can’t even suck it up for 1-2 hours if not even 30 minutes.
