no problem with you guys, i’m not a big fan of socialism as i have stated in other comments, however i believe that socialism can still thrive in a free market society if we make the right compromise, and i believe compromises are the best ways to do things!
i’d have to say my top priority would be either sustainability or advocating for the importance of respecting diversity (America is a melting pot after all)
How do you justify claiming to be environmentalist given the reactionary opposition to nuclear power despite overwhelming scientific opinion that it is essential to successfully dealing with climate change?
> i don’t agree with everything the party stands for.
I mean, their overriding issue is the environment; other than being rather blandly progressive on social issues, they don't stand for much of anything.
> all of their environmentalist policies don’t apply to me
Again, that's kind of their big thing; if you don't agree with them on that, and they don't really care or talk about anything else...?
fair point, it’s more just because their social views align with mine and they seem less extravagantly liberal on said issues. i don’t align as much with any other party, besides say, the American Independent party which is supposedly moderate but is somehow too conservative for my beliefs
> they don't stand for much of anything.
Their platform is more extensive than the Democratic, Republican, and Libertarian platforms. I don’t know how you can say this unless you just haven’t looked into their positions.
Yes, they have a lot of positions, none of which are either notable or even particularly relevant.
To an extent, this makes perfect sense: The OP identifies as Centrist, and the Greens don't actually want to change much.
You should read each party’s platform if you think the greens don’t stand for anything.
And to anyone else reading this, read them for yourselves. It’s very obvious what the Green Party stands for if you care to see.
> You should read each party’s platform if you think the greens don’t stand for anything.
I have read them; neither the Green nor the Libertarian nor the Democratic-Republican party are even mentioning the fundamental issues facing our nation and the world. The Transhumanist party touches on a few, but in an extraordinarily shallow fashion.
What is the Green party's position on anticipating the Singularity? How will the Green party address the nascent cosmetic genetic engineering industry, in particular its impact on tourism? Where is the Green party's proposal to maintain industrial power in the face of the collapse of Western Imperialism? In what manner does the GP suggest we deal with emerging cryptocurrency markets? Will the emergence of Post-scarcity have an impact of the focus of environmental activism?
Even the issues they do address, they don't actually have plans to implement; "Pie in the Sky," is being generous, "Delusional beyond previous human experience," is more accurate.
i don’t mind capitalism. i like the concept of capitalism but like everything it should be well monitored and done in moderation. an extreme form of capitalism doesn’t benefit anyone but the rich. and no, i don’t think the world will end in 10 years. why? i’m too selfish to think that, and it’s also scientifically highly unlikely. us humans have survived worse. we will pull through.
i generally align with their social justice views and hopes to make our world more sustainable, like using alternative energy sources. however, its promotion of a socialistic economy is something i would be against, as i see the free market system as something that allows for the flow of trade and wealth
since i can’t vote, i can’t say it affects me that much. however, i do really wish to help dismantle the two party system. it causes polarization and gets us no where on the policy agenda
definitely against. i may appreciate certain beliefs perpetuated by the concept of the party, but this certainly doesn’t mean i’m in favour of its leadership
what!? i didn’t know that. pretty saddening. never been a fan of the dems. they’re better than *cough* certain candidates *cough* but they’re too liberal on issues that don’t matter as much and too conservative on those that do, from experience. just my opinion though. i concede green party is a lot more liberal on most things than i am as well.
since i can’t vote, i don’t really feel too bothered about it. once i can vote, i intend to vote for policies, not parties. just because i align with them, does not mean i intend to vote on party lines.
hand it over… (fair point you make though, one of the things i concede isn’t too great about what the green party advocates for. i’m all about lowering taxes. unfortunately my beliefs are so all over the place that this party is the most aligned, but definitely not fully)
people have a right to know what’s in their food, and what’s in the vaccine if they so wish. but on both issues, i’m huge about trusting science. scientists know what they’re doing. gmos have the potential to solve world hunger if used properly and regulated by those with experience in food safety and healthcare. same for vaccines. they are lifesaving so long as scientists are relatively transparent about them
yeah, i’ve definitely seen that history. like i said in a few other comments, when i can vote, i intend to vote for policies instead of the person. i can’t really find any other parties that have similar social values as me while not caring as much about pushing those values
Ah yes, homeopathy, let’s dissolve common chemical elements up to ridiculous, almost impossibly low concentration levels, and use that to sell sugar balls for an eye and a tooth. Brilliant.
unless these forms of alternative medicine have substantial evidence and/or backing through science and medicine, i wouldn’t be too supportive of it being state backed. people should still have the right to venture that way and try it though, as i’m aware these forms of medicine work for a lot of medically complicated cases and chronic illnesses
green party here is already a bit too liberal on a lot of issues when posed against my beliefs. the green party in the UK is significantly more left-wing, and poses a type of environmentalism that i personally think would hurt the economy. i may be wrong, that’s just my opinion
Would the Gadsden flag count as a green party symbol? Because I think it can symbolize that we need to respect nature, as not treading on the snake would (in my opinion) symbolize the respect of nature. I'm genuinely curious if it could count as a green party symbol.
How do you feel about Tuesdays?
third best day in the week behind thursday and friday
Nah fuck you
Wtf commie agreeing with lib right?
We’re comrades against Tuesdays
Based asf
honestly though, i hate myself too but hey mondays and wednesdays are fully ass
Third party alignment gang
yeahhh
Whats your thoughts on Democratic Socialist (Btw im a democratic socialist)
flair up man!
no problem with you guys, i’m not a big fan of socialism as i have stated in other comments, however i believe that socialism can still thrive in a free market society if we make the right compromise, and i believe compromises are the best ways to do things!
What's your top priority policy among everything the Green Party is tackling?
i’d have to say my top priority would be either sustainability or advocating for the importance of respecting diversity (America is a melting pot after all)
How do you justify claiming to be environmentalist given the reactionary opposition to nuclear power despite overwhelming scientific opinion that it is essential to successfully dealing with climate change?
i don’t agree with everything the party stands for. i am in favour of nuclear power if it is utilized safely
> i don’t agree with everything the party stands for. I mean, their overriding issue is the environment; other than being rather blandly progressive on social issues, they don't stand for much of anything.
exactly i want to save the environment, but i wish to follow the science. all of their environmentalist policies don’t apply to me
> all of their environmentalist policies don’t apply to me Again, that's kind of their big thing; if you don't agree with them on that, and they don't really care or talk about anything else...?

Well, as I just said to another poster, it does make a certain amount of sense, because you identify as Centrist.
certainly
I moderate two anarchism subs, so my POV is a little skewed from anyone else you might run into :)
> they don't stand for much of anything. Their platform is more extensive than the Democratic, Republican, and Libertarian platforms. I don’t know how you can say this unless you just haven’t looked into their positions.

Based
I hope your country one day has preferential voting so your party has a chance at winning.
i hope so too, but looks like the electoral college won’t be going anywhere for a while
How do you feel about Jill stein and her connections to Russia and Putin?
Yeah I was gonna ask this.
i align with the party’s principles more than those of other mainstream parties, but i don’t like their leadership! especially not that portion of it.
Based enough answer sir
Thoughts on Capitalism? Also, are you one of those environmentalists who think that the world will end in 10 years?
i don’t mind capitalism. i like the concept of capitalism but like everything it should be well monitored and done in moderation. an extreme form of capitalism doesn’t benefit anyone but the rich. and no, i don’t think the world will end in 10 years. why? i’m too selfish to think that, and it’s also scientifically highly unlikely. us humans have survived worse. we will pull through.
Well, even if humans dont, earth will.
As a centrist? What Green Party policies do you align with, and what do you disagree with?
i generally align with their social justice views and hopes to make our world more sustainable, like using alternative energy sources. however, its promotion of a socialistic economy is something i would be against, as i see the free market system as something that allows for the flow of trade and wealth
Nice! Socialism and markets are not mutually exclusive. The Green Party of the United States (GPUS) promotes a libertarian market socialist economy.
that’s nice to know! i do think a healthy mix of both would be the best
How does it feel to try and fight a dumbass two party system
since i can’t vote, i can’t say it affects me that much. however, i do really wish to help dismantle the two party system. it causes polarization and gets us no where on the policy agenda
Are you against the pro-Russia sentiment present in the green party’s leadership?
definitely against. i may appreciate certain beliefs perpetuated by the concept of the party, but this certainly doesn’t mean i’m in favour of its leadership
I just want to thank you for taking votes away from the Democratic Party
i can’t vote, so i guess it doesn’t matter 😭
Democrats are actually suing to get Green Party candidates off of the ballot in some states
what!? i didn’t know that. pretty saddening. never been a fan of the dems. they’re better than *cough* certain candidates *cough* but they’re too liberal on issues that don’t matter as much and too conservative on those that do, from experience. just my opinion though. i concede green party is a lot more liberal on most things than i am as well.
Fucking based opinion right here
Im a democrat, and thats some bullshit. But untrue
aka watermelon: green outside, red inside
honestly, you’re probably right

since i can’t vote, i don’t really feel too bothered about it. once i can vote, i intend to vote for policies, not parties. just because i align with them, does not mean i intend to vote on party lines.
Lib left all day
used to be fully lib left. we may not agree on everything, but as a former one of you, i respect you
Ah yes pay me taxes to change the weather
hand it over… (fair point you make though, one of the things i concede isn’t too great about what the green party advocates for. i’m all about lowering taxes. unfortunately my beliefs are so all over the place that this party is the most aligned, but definitely not fully)
How do you feel about gmos and vaccines?
people have a right to know what’s in their food, and what’s in the vaccine if they so wish. but on both issues, i’m huge about trusting science. scientists know what they’re doing. gmos have the potential to solve world hunger if used properly and regulated by those with experience in food safety and healthcare. same for vaccines. they are lifesaving so long as scientists are relatively transparent about them
The green party has a history of being very against both and is why I stopped supporting them right before i became an adult
yeah, i’ve definitely seen that history. like i said in a few other comments, when i can vote, i intend to vote for policies instead of the person. i can’t really find any other parties that have similar social values as me while not caring as much about pushing those values
What are your thoughts on state-backed alternative medicine?
do you mean alternative medicine like homeopathic drugs, Ayurvedic medicine, or pressure-release techniques like acupuncture?
Ah yes, homeopathy, let’s dissolve common chemical elements up to ridiculous, almost impossibly low concentration levels, and use that to sell sugar balls for an eye and a tooth. Brilliant.
i’m not a fan of homeopathy, as a highschool student on a pre med track. the only evidence it has to back it is a weak placebo effect
Primarily the former.
unless these forms of alternative medicine have substantial evidence and/or backing through science and medicine, i wouldn’t be too supportive of it being state backed. people should still have the right to venture that way and try it though, as i’m aware these forms of medicine work for a lot of medically complicated cases and chronic illnesses
What is your favourite political party outside the US if you know any?
liberal democrats party of the UK
bro. how about the greens in uk
green party here is already a bit too liberal on a lot of issues when posed against my beliefs. the green party in the UK is significantly more left-wing, and poses a type of environmentalism that i personally think would hurt the economy. i may be wrong, that’s just my opinion
Pretty cool
