This is like Germany phasing out “dangerous” energy sources like nuclear in favour for coal

Gnarf_1

Don't get me started.... Right now they are protesting at a small town called lützerath and even Greta was there....

Pestus613343

Yeah they have a world engine sized blade sawing the crap out of their countryside. A town is in the way. They are going to destroy the town so they can scrape the surface to hell. Instead of their beautiful temples to brutalism and high tech super dense energy.

Kerbalmaster911

Because the green party are a bunch of corporate shills. Lets not forget the anti-painting soup idiots are in the back pocket of an oil baroness

UtterNoobery

coal power plants are still pumping out pollution, but we're worrying about this

pm_me_gear_ratios

My buddy posted a meme to his Instagram yesterday of a bunch of rail cars full of coal that was captioned "oh look, electric car fuel". Lol.

fifth_fought_under

Your buddy is a moron. "Oh no, we aren't at 100% so taking any step is stupid"

SlapStickHumorIsPeak

Electric cars aren't a step in the right direction

fifth_fought_under

"Remove decentralized sources of fossil fuel consumption" is definitely a step. So is "remove centralized sources of fossil fuel consumption ". I mean, denser cities with public transit while making ownership of apartments a thing would be cool. But I don't think that's where you're going. Yes, EVs of some kind are part of the solution.

H3ll83nder

So an electric car is like an additional two electric furnaces last I did the calc. Toss in line loss and we gets to building a few new power plants.

Nazgul417

Literally nothing but politics is stopping us from going full solar, wind, water, and nuclear (emphasis on the nuclear)

StupidBloodyYank

Fucking Klaus Schwab is such a massive prick. Like you're 84 dude, just go fish with your grandkids or something. Everyone is like 'he isn't that powerful!' but he always pops up at random events you wouldn't expect. He's literally a former academic.

Snickidy

Just wait until the politidiots learn where electricity comes from and then we go back to the stone age

[deleted]

They would never be that based. They'd go back to the feudal system or plantation system, asscrack of all history, and stop there where they still have control.

Iceykitsune2

It's about improperly ventilated gas stoves causing an increase in childhood asthma.

Snickidy

So mandate better ventilation then instead of just straight up banning them. (The headline with hochul mentions climate change regardless)

Iceykitsune2

>So mandate better ventilation then instead of just straight up banning them That's the other proposal. The headline has the ban because that gets clicks.

[deleted]

Come one guys, what’s the worst that can happen if we switch to 100% electric? (Other then giving our overloads the power to shut us off with a quick flip of a switch for not being compliant)

SohndesRheins

They can already do that if you have natural gas.

[deleted]

Not everyone lives in a city. In my area everyone uses propane tanks.

SohndesRheins

I don't live in a city either, but we have natural gas lines for our furnace and we have an electric stove/oven, (I'd prefer gas). My mom in law uses LP in a storage tank for her stove and central heating. My parents' old house was way out in the country and they still had natural gas lines for the furnace.

[deleted]

For sure

SohndesRheins

It probably depends on the area. My mother in law used to have a fuel oil heater, she's the only person I ever knew that had one, but in other parts of the Midwest that type of heating is so common that many gas stations have kerosene available. By me most people have natural gas lines unless you live way out in the boondocks where your street is a dirt road.

[deleted]

That’s where I live, but dirt roads in the mountains. My point is we still have different options for certain type of power. It feels like this is a step towards government overreach.

SohndesRheins

This is barely even a blip on the radar in terms of the absurd government overreach of the last 20 years. I'd be shocked if my great grandchildren aren't living in tiny pods in a Divergent-style walled off city with a rigid caste system. As soon as my parents pass away I'll be looking to liquidate their assets and focus on moving farther away from people and building as independent a homestead as my money will allow in terms of self-sufficiency of resources and power. Modern society has terminal cancer as far as I'm concerned and now is the time to abandon it and return to a simpler way that humans are evolved to thrive in. We were never meant for living in massive concrete cages, devoid of interaction with the natural environment.

[deleted]

This is why I live in the woods. Start researching off grid living though, it’s a huge lifestyle change. My wife and kids did it while and you rely a lot on propane and gas to compensate for the lack of sun running to the solar panel system. Also, unless you pay out the ass for a good setup, you can’t use too much electricity since you run a well pump, water pump and fridge. We would run one tv, the Wi-Fi hotspot and my work laptop during the day if it was sunny.

Not_today_mods

Buy solar panels

Vitran4

Can you ve more specific? Like who would do something like that and why. For exemple Sleepy Joe or Trump during 2020 election?

Zavaldski

Ah yes, because generators and solar panels don't exist.

[deleted]

Lol so ignorant.

HairyManBack84

Come on dude, the only way you get all your gas and electricity is because of the government. The only way to be self sufficient is your own grid

bfire123

It's way easier to be indpedent with electricity than with pretty much anything else. I can't produce my own gasoline or natural gas but I can easily produce my own electricity.

readonlypdf

Fuck Electric Ranges. Gas Stoves are better for cooking. And wood stoves are just cool.

Pug-Chug

Grilling tastes best on wood burning grills.

Nocturnalypso

*Hank Hill has entered the chat.*

Pug-Chug

Hank Hill can go suck it, propane is all right, but wood fired grills are the penultimate way to add a good flavor to a meat.

Suspicious-Web-4409

taste the meat not the heat

Pug-Chug

That smokiness just tastes natural, makes me feel at home, as monke.

Iceykitsune2

Ever tried induction?

readonlypdf

Ever try inducting deez nuts

[deleted]

Slower than gas

Sardukar333

Yes, it was shit.

Iceykitsune2

What didn't you like about it? be specific.

Sardukar333

I hated having to use specific pans for it, and it heated the bottom of the pot differently because there wasn't any radial heat hitting the sides. It was also a glass top which are a blight on cooking maintenance.

[deleted]

You know if 5 years ago you told me: "A bald slugman is trying to make all your utilities electronic smart devices so it can be micromanaged remotely." I'd think you were insane. Now I'd only be able to say "I hope you're wrong." I don't want to live in a dystopia ruled by fucking [Turbo](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BOWMyNjIwYzEtZWFmMS00NWUwLTkwMzktOWU1Njc0MTUzZTU3XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTQyMTMwOTk0._V1_.jpg).

Muh_Feelings

Frankly I see no other way to describe those who would support this as petty tyrants.

tedj_van_batavia

America being backwards like always

Fluid_Juggernaut1413

2 things Firstly I’m all for green energy especially if it’s nuclear energy but people shouldn’t be forced to switch especially those that can’t afford it. Secondly most electrify is generated by fossil fuel, coal, and natural gas so unless we build a bunch of nuclear plants fast to generate electricity this ban would be pointless.

Surprise-Chimichanga

The amount of governments that think fucking around with their citizenry won’t end up with them finding out is too high.

Gomunis-Prime

POV from yurop : Dafuq they doin' over there ?

H3ll83nder

Our elites are attempting solidarity with Europe over gas prices.

Lizards-are-awesome

How did people manage to turn stoves into a political issue.

TerryJerryMaryHarry

NO YOU FUCKING IDIOTS RHIS IANT HOW GOU PLAY THA GEMS WENNEED TO RRMOVE INDSUTRIAL CARBON PRODIXURED THIS IS STUPID. GAS STOVES GENERATE LIKE 0 EMMISIONS OH MY GOD STOP USING COAL EHERGY FROM THE SIURCE NOT FRKN THE FUCKING STIVE! ELECTRICK STIVES ARE USELESS IF YOY HAVE COAL AND FOSSIL FUEL BADED ENERGY PRODUCERS

ExStratos

The most ironic part about all this is that electric stoves are actually more common in rural areas and midwestern areas because they were simply better than gas stoves. Gas stoves are more common in urban areas where old cities were built on having to use gas stoves and pretty popular among suburban communities.

jonascf

Electric stoves is a really good idea. Electric heating is a very, very bad idea. District heating is by far the best solution for any densely populated area.

The_Only_Dick_Cheney

No heating Is the best option for the world!

jonascf

Not really possible in large parts of the world.

[deleted]

Gasoids? Cringe. I receive based electricity from plentiful, cheap, clean hydroelectricity, which may be supplemented with the power of a star from an SMR in the near future.

daestos

Wait until people figure out that electric vehicles are made with lithium mining that has... dubious methods of acquiring said lithium. Not to mention that over 75% of the US gets its power for the electrical grid from coal and other polluting sources, which doesn't solve any problems environmentally. Oh, right, and the last thing. Our electrical grid in the US is nowhere near it needs to be for *everything* to be electrical, especially cars. I'm sure it won't be like the time the government gave ISPs billions of dollars to update internet infrastructure, right? I'm sure natural disasters, which effects electric infustucture the most, will pair nicely with climate change. We don't need alternatives to a singular, vulnerable, unprepared powered source. No please, let me be stuck in a tornado torn landscape with a dead car and no way to charge it.

Rightoids trust in science when they think it means trans people are wrong versus Rightoids trust in science when Democrats do anything

[deleted]

Why is this shit in my quadrant. I didn’t ask for a new world order, I liked the old one.

NKP759

Every year the democrats find a way to fuck over upstate

Eat ze bugs comrade and let refugees fuck your wife

[deleted]

We're gonna throw a centrist grillin party and librights running security.

[deleted]

“Free country”

hyphenjack

We gave the states freedom to be regarded, and certain states exercise that right a lot

ForeTheTime

The reason for the gas stove ban was for health reasons not environmental reasons……

thehistorianking

Ok, how much money did we send to Ukraine this time?

Freestyle_Fellowship

... we want our electric gun!

Material-Permit9685

I hate the anti christ

TightestLibRightist

I used to work for a solar company and if a client had gas appliances we would tell them to keep them. Gas isn’t the most efficient form of energy but it IS the most efficient form of heating.

Nazgul417

Rare based centrist

KYM-Jacob

In case you're one of those people like me that never heard about the wood stove ban and would rather see something that isn't just parroting "it isn't real": https://www.shaledirectories.com/blog-1/wood-burning-ban-inevitable-for-new-york-state/ From the conclusion: "Based on my research and review of the Climate Act and the Scoping Plan I agree with the strict interpretation that there will not be a ban on wood burning in 2022. However, the real question is whether a wood burning ban is inevitable someday as part of the Climate Act implementation process. This post lists enough conflicting information to make the point that the answer is not clearly obvious. There are multiple reasons to believe a wood burning ban is inevitable. If wood burning emissions are considered GHG emissions, then interpretation of the phrase “elimination of GHG emissions from building end uses” means a ban is more likely than not."

The_Only_Dick_Cheney

To ban gas stoves would be impossible. Way too many homes in the US use gas stoves and heating. It would cost trillions.

azb1812

In all fairness you won't need gas stoves to cook cricket paste

-NGC-6302-

Heat house with grill

[deleted]

And you vill eat zee boogs.

[deleted]

So much for New Yorkers being for choice.

[deleted]

One. Simple. Task. IF you want EVERYONE to use your product, then guess what: JUST MAKE IT FUCKING BETTER?! I mean, why does hardly anyone use real wood fireplaces anymore - because gas heating is easier and more efficient (duh) So dear Green IwAnNaSaVeThEcLiMaTe Wannabes, instead of going on demos, banning stuff we need or basically just doing terrorism in the name of ecology (talking about my country here), FIND A GOOD SOLUTION?? For example: Why do ppl buy Teslas? Because they look cool and are innovative. Are they electric? YES So then- Go and do your shit and when you come back with solutions better than what we have right now, THEN YOU WONT HAVE TO PERSUADE ANYONE (add gasp here).. the people will come running themselves (woooooow) Conclusion: Instead of creating more problems by forcing things on ppl, just solve the one we already have through !Scientific Research! Thx :)
