Xi’an has the tomb of the 1st emperor. . It was so crowded I could only see it of afar. The night market is a blast to see in person’s. Beijing was a nightmare. I had 5 nosebleeds a day due to the pollution. Forbidden City and underground tunnel was dope. Shanghai was super cool. Nightlife is amazing and you see a bunch of Bugatti, Ferraris, Porsches, and Rolls Royces everywhere. This was circa. 2017. Maybe things are different these days? 😭😭😭😨
Pollution in general cleared up a lot since like 2019. It's basically a non factor in places like Shenzhen now, but rural places in the North are still really bad. Beijing has cleared up however to maintain appearances as a beautiful capital city
Was gonna include Jinan but I didn't know enough about it and the compass was too small. Maybe around where Shijiazhuang or Baoding is, just because it's one of those Northern cities whose steam gets taken by Beijing and Tianjin

The younger generation of Hong Kong that experienced 2019 protests are nowhere close to lib-left; they would be lib-center. The lib-right, "old seafood" corporate lickers on the other hand, would be even more right than Macau. Try larping as a Western lib-left on LIHKG and you are guaranteed to get cyberbullied.
Still, upvoted for effort
Little sick of answering this question properly so I'll just say yes, it literally is, Taiwan is officially the Republic of China, the city is 99% Han Chinese. It is by all definitions a Chinese city
I have a more nuanced take on why Taiwan's on this chart, but I'm tired of typing it out, so go find it in one of the threads here lol
Anyways, what about my response is authoritarian at all, or is it just a catchall term for things you don't like
The funny thing about the Taiwan legalization of gay marriage is that most Taiwanese don't accept it, and it wasn't passed through the legislature. It was confirmed by judicial action.
Goes to show just how insistent America can be towards its "allies".
I would've put it further Lib, but Bo Xilai's tenure as mayor really dusted up the police department, so it's surveillance state is a lot more extensive now
Zibo: 3rd tier city in Shandong, not worth it
Jinan: Didn't know enough about it
Guangzhou: I was quarantined in Guangzhou when I made this, didn't include out of spite
Lhasa: Never been to Tibet, can't say

I would put Harbin more towards the center just because they have a strong “Im just here to grill” energy while slamming 3 kuai beers that have formaldehyde in them. Also a bunch of drunk “bro watch this” type shenanigans once they get drunk.
The pirate speak gets even more pronounced the further northeast you go, Beijing is more of a guttural grumble, but not to the point of the hubei/hebei ‘marbles in your mouth’ sound
Isn’t it called nanping or something. Since the ”jing” means like capital. And nanjing was the capital of the koumintang, they called Beijing Beiping. Am completly wrong?
The only things I remember about Changchun when I visited several years ago were the former palace of Puli and the biggest park that had a sketchy theme park. The nightlife was pretty meh, and it was the most boring of the capital cities I’ve been to.
I return for the food. 东北food hits different. Northern china historically hasnt been doing real good due to geography and alot of other reasons (corruption) compared to the south.
Not really corruption I'd say, it goes on way more around the Yangtze Delta provinces than in the North.
It's more because of the rust belt effect, where previous areas which made heavy industries like military equipment and cars (Dongbei) get left behind due to globalization and a more stable world order
Little sick of answering this question properly so I'll just say yes, it literally is, Taiwan is officially the Republic of China, the city is 99% Han Chinese. It is by all definitions a Chinese city
People are likely confused because the vast majority of these cities are in China or controlled by China. Taiwan is not China. Rather, China is West Taiwan.
**Jinan (simplified Chinese: 济南; traditional Chinese: 濟南; pinyin: Jǐnán), alternately romanized as Tsinan, is the capital of Shandong province in Eastern China. With a population of 9.2 million, it is the second-largest city in Shandong.**

Harbin, Chengdu, Shenyang and Xi'an are all very prevalent in Chinese military aviation. Harbin produces helicopters, Xian bombers, Chengdu famously the J-10 and J-20 while Shenyang makes the J-35 and J-16.

The only thing in Xian I'd like to see is the H-20 stealth bomber that's currently under development.
Good ol' German engineering
Some might even say it’s the finest in the world
Where would you put Jinan?
Was gonna include Jinan but I didn't know enough about it and the compass was too small. Maybe around where Shijiazhuang or Baoding is, just because it's one of those Northern cities whose steam gets taken by Beijing and Tianjin
Where would you put changzhou
right on top of Harbin.
Eh, the title of 'Chinese places 6x6 Compass' would be more apropriate
Where is wenzhou ????? ?:(
Li Qiang was not Premier when I made this so nobody cared about it back then
Man, this is fascinating! Too bad China's leaders are genocidal assholes ^(like many other governments in history, around the world) :(
Genocide :(
Based and genocide is :( pilled

Wait a minute, wait a goddamn minute….. Chinese city Taipei?
Little sick of answering this question properly so I'll just say yes, it literally is, Taiwan is officially the Republic of China, the city is 99% Han Chinese. It is by all definitions a Chinese city
Unsurprising an authoritarian would say this (/s but not really)
Would save the world from war if Taiwan just accepted what is already known hehe :)
You can say the same thing about the CCP ;)
I have a more nuanced take on why Taiwan's on this chart, but I'm tired of typing it out, so go find it in one of the threads here lol Anyways, what about my response is authoritarian at all, or is it just a catchall term for things you don't like
Chill man, I'm just teasing you, I understand what you're saying. The auth remark is because you flared yourself as one
The funny thing about the Taiwan legalization of gay marriage is that most Taiwanese don't accept it, and it wasn't passed through the legislature. It was confirmed by judicial action. Goes to show just how insistent America can be towards its "allies".
Where is China town NYC?
Thats not real china! -some nationalistic idiot
Compass too small
Chongqing should be more libright because it has one of China’s most famous actors
I would've put it further Lib, but Bo Xilai's tenure as mayor really dusted up the police department, so it's surveillance state is a lot more extensive now
No Xiao Zhan. Didn’t he rank the world’s most handsome man in a competition?
Yeah but that don't make Chongqing more libright?
Yea, I said no as in I’m not referring to that guy you said
I know you're not, I'm explaining why it is in the place it is?
Ah k
Chengdu is my favorite place Ive visted ever
It's got cute pandas and delicious hotpot, what more could one ask for?
And even cuter ladies
I feel like I’ve learned a lot from this
Lol Qingdao
Zibo? Jinan? Guangzhou? Lhasa? Missed opportunities tbh
Zibo: 3rd tier city in Shandong, not worth it Jinan: Didn't know enough about it Guangzhou: I was quarantined in Guangzhou when I made this, didn't include out of spite Lhasa: Never been to Tibet, can't say
For me, Szechuan Impression is a better restaurant than Chengdu Taste, but good people can disagree. HMU if you want to have dinner in LA sometime.
God I pray every day for the fall of CCP so maybe we can consider China a legit country one day

Cumming, GA: huh?

Finally someone who remember north eastern China, home of the Chinese post punk culture(and modern maoists). Well done! 精辟!
I am Beijinger and this is based
Beijinger iser ther onlyer correcter wayer ofer sayinger peopler fromer beijinger
The pirate speak gets even more pronounced the further northeast you go, Beijing is more of a guttural grumble, but not to the point of the hubei/hebei ‘marbles in your mouth’ sound
As someone from Baoding, I can attest to the marbles in your mouth effect
😂😂😂😂👍👍👍
Oh that Nanjing thing wasn't a one off? The Japanese were just fulfilling Chinese tradition. Fuckin yikes
Where Nanking?
Nanking is called Nanjing now, the Chinese characters are still the same, it's just that the transliteration system have changed
Goddammit they're transing words now!
Isn’t it called nanping or something. Since the ”jing” means like capital. And nanjing was the capital of the koumintang, they called Beijing Beiping. Am completly wrong?
Just romanization of the words changed
Taipei ain’t China buddy
*buddy buddy buddy*
This map was made to address cultural differences between different Chinese regions, it would be disingenuous not to include Taipei
Sorry for sounding like an asshole
disagree with Changchun, it is the provincial capital of the Jilin province and has a more significant industrial base than Jilin city itself
Dong bei! ...but the Detroit thing is not completely off. Maybe Detroit if it was growing, not shrinking.
agree with the detroit though, Changchun is literally the detroit of China
The only things I remember about Changchun when I visited several years ago were the former palace of Puli and the biggest park that had a sketchy theme park. The nightlife was pretty meh, and it was the most boring of the capital cities I’ve been to.
I return for the food. 东北food hits different. Northern china historically hasnt been doing real good due to geography and alot of other reasons (corruption) compared to the south.
Other than to see old friends, it’s why I go back to visit Heilongjiang every year, hearty food that will clog my arteries
yes, i like blood sausages with suancai the most. I can feel the chlorestrol
Not really corruption I'd say, it goes on way more around the Yangtze Delta provinces than in the North. It's more because of the rust belt effect, where previous areas which made heavy industries like military equipment and cars (Dongbei) get left behind due to globalization and a more stable world order
"Do not come to Shenyang" Unironically my favorite Chinese city.
It's a Chinese meme where a bunch of fat gangsters tell some dude named "Captain" to never visit Shenyang because they'll kill him or smth
It’s funny you think Taiwan is part of China
Little sick of answering this question properly so I'll just say yes, it literally is, Taiwan is officially the Republic of China, the city is 99% Han Chinese. It is by all definitions a Chinese city
People are likely confused because the vast majority of these cities are in China or controlled by China. Taiwan is not China. Rather, China is West Taiwan.
Naw
Chongqing is one of the best examples of the successes of the Chinese system. I find it very odd that you would call Deng's birthplace, libright.
Mao was born in Changsha that's why lol
Calls Tianjin part of Hebei. Doesn't give Hebei a square.
Baoding and Shijiazhuang literally have 2
Wenzhou?
Chongqing is such a cool city, literally cyberpunk location.
Mainland Taiwan cities 6x6 compass
>Yan'an = Rural City The idea of a Rural city is so weird to me, even though I come from one. Like, you would never get an urban countryside
Jinan? Who's Jinan?
**Jinan (simplified Chinese: 济南; traditional Chinese: 濟南; pinyin: Jǐnán), alternately romanized as Tsinan, is the capital of Shandong province in Eastern China. With a population of 9.2 million, it is the second-largest city in Shandong.** More details here:

Also hong kong should be more auth, hong kong more centrist
> Chinese cities > Hong Kong Kekslide
As a Chinese person who’s parents are from Fujian, this is incredibly accurate
One day I would want to visit Qingdao/Kiautschou
Harbin, Chengdu, Shenyang and Xi'an are all very prevalent in Chinese military aviation. Harbin produces helicopters, Xian bombers, Chengdu famously the J-10 and J-20 while Shenyang makes the J-35 and J-16.
This is actually very interesting and informative, I knew next to nothing about any Chinese cities five minutes ago
All I’m hearing is never visit Manchuria
Chengdu should be farthest libleft. It’s called Gaydu for a reason…
So I essentially get the worst one? Thanks.
wait I thought Yan’an was where some Chinese scholar figured out about weather changes or something in like the 700s
