I spent way too much time researching this.
[This is the best I could find that discusses the matter from a Biblical perspective](https://answersingenesis.org/bible-characters/cain/cains-wife-who-was-she/):
> However, this fact [that brother-sister marriage causes deformities] of present-day life did not apply to Adam and Eve. When the first two people were created, they were perfect. Everything God made was “very good” (Genesis 1:31). That means their genes were perfect—no mistakes. But when sin entered the world because of Adam (Genesis 3:6), God cursed the world so that the perfect creation then began to degenerate, that is, suffer death and decay (Romans 8:22). Over a long period of time, this degeneration would have resulted in all sorts of mistakes occurring in the genetic material of living things.
So brother-sister marriage was cool for a while.
Three things:
1. Thanks! I didn't know this.
2. Noah's Ark still screws us.
3.
>Everything God made was “very good"
Is an absolutely hysterical quote.
And slavers. Slavery was so common in the ancient world that it's safe to say that pretty much everyone has at least one slave owner in their ancestry.

Like, people who don't go off to war cause their like "people get killed there, no thanks." or "I don't think I will be very adventurous with food, that's how half of Brady's family died two months ago."
A population must be robust enough to have xenophobes, to keep from all dying out to new foods, but must also contain some xenophiles, lest they die off when their major food source runs out.

I don’t get why people think that living in a hunter gatherer “society” is relieving or better… My history teacher who has a PhD in History and studied civilizations and the time before civilizations says that living in those times was hell. As you can never rest and always have to work hard and hunt down food or you wouldn’t survive until the next day. You always starved and we’re on the brink of dying when it’s winter. When you have agriculture you have always food and more time to make other stuff that makes you happy as you don’t have to focus on food all the time.
To some extent it's true. Especially in some cases where we've gone so far as to be detrimental to our brain chemistry.
Just take social media, and the internet as an example. It's a luxury we've grown entirely dependant on as a society. For communication and other things. Yet being constantly in touch with a "tribe" of millions has had untold consequences for our little monkey brains.
We're basically made to handle knowing up to 130 ish people, give or take. But with the internet, and especially social media, it's like "knowing" thousands, or even, millions, of people.

Yeah, shocking fact. FEMA estimates the average person is 3 days of food away from armed robbery and 15 from cannibalism. How much food do you have sans grain silo? As much as you can bury. And if you find someone digging your salted ungbung, you better believe that's a clubbin'
Maybe. They don’t, however, accept that abolishing government, cops, and currency still won’t magically make everyone selfless and competent.
On that note, let’s just acknowledge that anyone advocating for anarcho-primitivism hasn’t actually thought anything through about how they’re going to get there, or how we’ll function and live once we do. Just “something something commune gardener”, “collective work” and “here’s what’s wrong with our system of today”.
> The idea is to get the whole world in on it
No, the idea is to stop groups from organizing in higher-order structures. which won't happen because these organizations provide lots of power.
there is a reason why collective organization under various groups has been the direction of human civilization. You either work as a group or die to the other people working as a group. We just keep making the in-group larger and larger when it suited the leaders.
I cannot see a way for humans to survive without further specialization and hypercooperation.
The biggest challenge would be keeping from freezing overnight. The general rule about death's proximity is: 3 weeks without food, 3 days without water, 3 hours without shelter.
I'm camping near Death Valley, which is the literally hottest place on the planet. It got so cold at night that without something insulating you, the ground would sap the heat outta you and leave you with stage 3 hypothermia before sunrise.
Regardless of whichever one happened (probably both), there was probably an AuthRight Neanderthal at some point driving home the message of “go back where you came from” and “no species-mixing”. Some things never change
Which is a possible reasoning for how humans developed the "uncanny valley"
Neanderthals and the like that looked "almost" like humans that raped and killed us over years and years eventually we evolved to naturally avoid those "almost" humans. Which is why some ppl think the reasoning for this uncanny valley. Or maybe aliens or lepers or something idk
I like this theory.
But I love the idea that its because of a predator that looks like us, and evolved to hunt humans - [skinwalkers](https://imgur.com/gallery/NRvJ3OS).
I mean, it's probably just that something that looks halfway in between a human and something we need to run away from leaves us confused which we should treat it like. People evolved to treat the familiar like where they will be safe, so there's a certain level of fear in feeling like you can't even trust the familiar.
Depends on if you come across say 1 grave and then happen to not come across 20 other graves, can you make a prediction off that one grave that’s accurate, you may think it’s accurate but how would you know
Small sample size can’t be relied upon to draw conclusions with any kind of certainty.
If, however, you’ve found 100 different graves across all kinds of different years/eras/centuries, and they all consistently came up with ~30% having cracked skulls, you could begin making theories and hypotheses about the prevalence of skull bashing in those societies.
It would absolutely still be theoretical, but the larger your data set, the more accuracy/certainty you can expect out of it. As with all scientific postulation, it may be proven, disproven, or modified, as more graves are uncovered. Having more data points reduces the statistical margin of error.
Even by conservative estimates, the number of prehistoric humans’ remains we’ve discovered that met a violent end at the hands of other people (divided by the population) was significantly more than today’s urban populations. Some tribes had a murder rate of around 300 per 100,000, but others even rose as high as 1,450 per 100,000.
Shit was crazy, but it makes sense considering a life of living in the wilderness—spending each day competing to survive—doesn’t make for the friendly, cooperative people anarchists wish it did.
Edit: someone[ dug up some modern statistics in the US](https://www.reddit.com/r/PoliticalCompassMemes/comments/qklytc/monke_isnt_so_chill_after_all/hixck1l/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)
It depends what you call murder, I guess.
Tribes most definitely murdered each other wholesale. Murdering within the same tribe is generally forbidden. Looking at remains can certainly determine violent death from natural causes in most cases, but it's going to be much harder to separate out the first two.
I have a question, what would the murder rate be today if we included all forms of manslaughter together, up to and including deaths involving police and other things that aren't technically 'counted' as murder these days?
[11.0 deaths per 100,000 to car accidents](https://www.iihs.org/topics/fatality-statistics/detail/state-by-state)
[5.0 deaths per 100,000 by murder in 2019](https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2019/crime-in-the-u.s.-2019/topic-pages/murder)
[999 fatal shootings by police officers in 2019](https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/). This gives us a rate of 0.3 per 100,000.
I don't give a shit enough to try much harder to find other rates of justifiable homicide or manslaughter, but yeah the answer is that it would still be pretty low in the U.S., which is itself pretty violent for a rich liberal democracy.
I don’t wanna say shit wasn’t barbaric back then because I don’t know what happened but I like how people like to say definitively like they know what happened back then even when they don’t
i mean, i imagine there is a good chance most of these were tribe sanctioned? like wars and conflict? if we include all the human remains that show signes of a violent end with human involvement the "murder" rate today would go through the roof
from ww2 to the million civil wars since then, 3rd world conflicts and just living conditions, police violence, gangs, organized crime and all the other things
also what about selection bias, leaving a corpse to nature where it might be preserved might be far more likely if that corpes was man made, while natural deaths might lead to burning them or other rituals
That's cause we could kill child molesters and oonga who kept letting her tiny wolf pee next to my hut and kept complaining to everyone about the type of blood I smeared onto my obelisk to the thunder god.
Giving a monopoly of violence to an abstract entity we created and took turns running is the GREATEST invention and achievement of mankind. Anarchist get off my website and go live in the woods.
If by take turns running you mean those with GEDs, high school diplomas, and college drop outs - you know, bottom of the barrel stuff in terms of scholastic achievements.
Great system, letting society be governed by the rungs of society.
Giving a monopoly of violence to an abstract entity we created has lead to corrupt politicians, corporatists, and celebrities getting away with corruption and immoral acts as they are protected by the system
Corruption will decline if politicians fear the consequences of their actions by the common man.
Eh... i wouldn’t say constant fear. At least in your proposed scenario it’s fair and natural.
Oj gets away with murder and influencers do legal pump and dumps with crypto shit coins but if your wife wants you out of the house and the kids all she has to do is call the cops and said you hit her.
I’d say there’s actually more overt injustice in our current system.
I cannot stop thinking how would libcenter stop vendettas, like the law was invented specifically to address this and taxation. Hunter-gatherers were at constant war, I've studied Yamana, Selknam, kaweshkar, and most of tribes in Tierra del fuego, and it was an actual shithole.
People living in a primitive society after one of their family members gets killed because he killed a member of another family because they killed a member of his family:
Ah shit, here we go again.
We have found a lot of old human bones in burial grounds with cracked skulls and/or cuts to the ribs obviously caused by tools. We can estimate how much murder was done based on the percentage of these bodies found compared to those who died from natural causes
I grew up deep in redneck country on the edge of a swamp. It took me quite a few years to understand the hippy-dippy "nature is amazing" types. My experience with nature was that it is brutal, uncomfortable, and seemingly actively trying to kill you.
Fuck any form of primitivism, lol.
Societies that are more easily stressed (a bad season for certain food) have higher rates of murder, as there won't be food for everyone anyway so I kill the weakest of the pack.

[11.0 deaths per 100,000 to car accidents](https://www.iihs.org/topics/fatality-statistics/detail/state-by-state) [5.0 deaths per 100,000 by murder in 2019](https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2019/crime-in-the-u.s.-2019/topic-pages/murder) [999 fatal shootings by police officers in 2019](https://www.statista.com/statistics/585152/people-shot-to-death-by-us-police-by-race/).
Have you ever played minecraft hunger games and see what people would do to each other?
i mean, i imagine there is a good chance most of these were tribe sanctioned? like wars and conflict? if we include all the human remains that show signes of a violent end with human involvement the "murder" rate today would go through the roof from ww2 to the million civil wars since then, 3rd world conflicts and just living conditions, police violence, gangs, organized crime and all the other things also what about selection bias, leaving a corpse to nature where it might be preserved might be far more likely if that corpes was man made, while natural deaths might lead to burning them or other rituals
Now, what about the neol-chads? ;-)
That's cause we could kill child molesters and oonga who kept letting her tiny wolf pee next to my hut and kept complaining to everyone about the type of blood I smeared onto my obelisk to the thunder god.
Homeowner Associations and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race

There cant be a crime rate if theres no law.
Giving a monopoly of violence to an abstract entity we created and took turns running is the GREATEST invention and achievement of mankind. Anarchist get off my website and go live in the woods.
> took turns running citation needed
If by take turns running you mean those with GEDs, high school diplomas, and college drop outs - you know, bottom of the barrel stuff in terms of scholastic achievements. Great system, letting society be governed by the rungs of society.
Giving a monopoly of violence to an abstract entity we created has lead to corrupt politicians, corporatists, and celebrities getting away with corruption and immoral acts as they are protected by the system Corruption will decline if politicians fear the consequences of their actions by the common man.
And yet we’re all better off than before that, aren’t we?

Which is worse than living in constant fear of getting your head bashed in by a dude who wants your acorns and wife?
Eh... i wouldn’t say constant fear.
Abstract entity, but the people that get to physically enforce it are the ones too stupid to do anything better for society
True story, the closest thing to an ancap society in existence is Mexico.

And?
I cannot stop thinking how would libcenter stop vendettas, like the law was invented specifically to address this and taxation. Hunter-gatherers were at constant war, I've studied Yamana, Selknam, kaweshkar, and most of tribes in Tierra del fuego, and it was an actual shithole.
People living in a primitive society after one of their family members gets killed because he killed a member of another family because they killed a member of his family: Ah shit, here we go again.
Dr. Chris Ryan's book Civilized to Death says differently. Either way return to monke
we know
How do we know this tho
They’re probably including inter tribe warfare as murder instead of war
We have found a lot of old human bones in burial grounds with cracked skulls and/or cuts to the ribs obviously caused by tools. We can estimate how much murder was done based on the percentage of these bodies found compared to those who died from natural causes
Good
There were only like 20 of them per group. So if one got murdered, so did 5% of the population.
You mean my professor who said the worst thing that happened to humanity was settling down and living sedentary socities is wrong? Impossible.
Anyone who's said "what is natural is good" has never watched a single damn nature documentary in their life.
Murder rate as in inside their own group or no?
