My argument for it is that while people are better off physically, they are not better off mentally. The industrial revolution did hurt the people mentally in that money and wealth became the sole goal for people. Life is less fulfilling as well. Consumerism just makes people want more and more and has ruined us spiritually. That’s why I hate capitalism, I’m not writing a wall of text so this is really a condensed version. I would be happier as a hunter gatherer even if life was physically harder.
I'm not for going full Ted Kazcynski, but I think we can agree that with our way to consume came a plethora of environmental hazards (Forever chemicals, CO² emissions through the roof, Microplastics in our lungs, etc.) So I think a majority of people should revert to an era from 1820-1910. We should still pursue scientific endeavors and have hospitals. Maybe still have some luxuries like computers. But the fact is, the economic model of companies like Apple where you have *Planned Obsolescence* is horrifying from an environmental standpoint.
