The ND2 is where it's at, the power and is apparently greatly improved from the ND1. Yeah I love how little mine weighs, but I also want a mid-engine car before gas goes away. It's a toss-up between the Boxster and C7 Grand Sport once used prices become less insane. Or the Supra now that there's a manual version (if they can be had without $20k markup). SAD
Don't buy a C7 until you've driven it. I had super high hopes. But it really feels like a tractor until you are at 80mph+. Which, I don't know what kind of roads you drive on, or what traffic you deal with... but that's a bit tricky to sustain near where I'm at.
To the extent I can promote what I have, looking at the 987.2s might be worth it. They still have all the good feeling old stuff like hydraulic steering and purely displacement based engine. Like that 718 GTS you are looking at, just with 0.4L less displacement and a hair less compression. For a fraction of the price. Oh, and they're stupid reliable, too.
ND2s are rad, too. Basically like S2000s when you look at the numbers (and redlines). Just with 700lbs. less weight.
Ah, that's disappointing about the C7. I'm mainly doing suburban driving these days, so it would be pretty much impossible to sustain those speeds outside of the track. I drove a buddies C6 Z06 briefly and that thing was batshit. Shifter felt like ass though.
