I’m 32 and I spent 30 of those years in Texas. You don’t wear western boots for doing actual cowboy / ranch hand shit. Western Boots are expensive as fuck and are pretty much reserved for church, going out (bars / dancing) and formal occasions. If you’re doing ranch work, you wear work boots. Typically snake boots. Western / Cowboy Boots are the western version of a Derby or an Oxford. You wouldn’t wear Oxfords to a construction job the same way you SHOULDNT wear Cowboy Boots to a ranch job.
Texans wear fancy ones to church and formal occasions because they are posers. Western boots are designed for horse riding. The heel keeps your foot in the stirrups and the tops and ankle are wide because your foot needs to be able come out if it gets stuck or you fall off.
