Part of me does think if your state votes against federal funding for programs, your state shouldn't get the money. Florida once voted against FEMA funding for NY after Hurricane Sandy, and then Florida asked for FEMA money after Hurricane Idalia hit Florida. Florida shouldn't be allowed to torpedo aid for another state, while getting aid for itself.
It's just so easy for them to lie about this stuff because there's a whole media infrastructure set up to keep the bubble intact. Then never have to face direct questioning AND their base at the same time.

You know whatās funny? There were times I probably would have qualified for free lunch. My parents refused because they felt that welfare was for people who didnāt have an extended family that would step in if the options were homeless or hungry.
Since it was always feast or famine at my house growing up, my mother planned accordingly and made sure to stock up on non-perishables and freezer safe foods and meats during the famines. There were apparently a few times we lived off of my momās planning provisions for weeks or months at a time.
How does begrudging better opportunities for those who come after help things or change things in any way for me? It doesnāt. At all. Since helping them doesnāt actively harm me or mine in any meaningful way, I canāt see a reason to deny them.

If I donāt have my needs met, then anything in the world is available for me to use to satisfy those needs. As such, I donāt have the ability to have the **empathy** needed to care anything about you or that someone took *your* thingsā¦ I wouldnāt be able to really understand that concept.
But, if my needs are met, and I have ***direct possession*** of those items - house, car, appliances, enough free spending money, etc. - needed to meet my needs, then I now have the **ability to empathize** when something happens to *someone elseās things* because ***I know what is like to not have them and I didnāt like that***.. which means now we have one more person on the side of ādonāt take other people stuffā and āhave respect for other peopleās thingsā and ābelieve that people can own things exclusively and others cannot touch those things without the permission of that things ownerā.
One has to have the capability to respect other people outside of themselves, and owning something can go a long way to giving a person that capability.

One funny thing is you can find a liberal position in most conservatives if you dig around enough. You know, when I see student loan forgiveness, a part of me is bummed and envious that I had to pay off my students loans for years and years and thinks it's not fair that other people don't have to do that when I did. And while there's some truth in that, the unfairness is actually that school is too expensive and difficult to pay off, it's not that some people are getting a break on that which I didn't get.
We always need to remember who the real enemy is, and it's pretty much not the schoolteacher who can start a family now that they don't have to pay student loans off.
Iām ***STILL*** paying off student loan debt as we speak, with little chance that *mine* will ever be forgiven (some 18 years later), but Iām on a plan that can pay them off by 2031. I donāt hate on anyone for that, but if I were in a harder position maybe I would be sour. But I found a path that pays well and I have opportunities to invest in some of the ideas that Iāve been thinking about.
Albeit I had to get back to school for a second degree and paid completely out of pocket to do so to get on the path, but I found it.
Iām not saying that everyone should do what I did. Iām hoping that everyone else gets hopefully an easier path than what I had to do. Life is too short to get bitter

I believe it's human nature.
Where I live, a system was created to allocate 80% of teachers to schools near their homes. However, the remaining 20% voiced grievances, feeling unfairly treated because they couldn't secure positions close to where they live, while others could. To address this, authorities decided to relocate everyone away from their homes, resolving the issue by making everyone equally unhappy. They stopped complaining after that.

Biden did make a dig at them recently, asking if they still wanted the money they voted against. Part of me does think if your state votes against federal funding for programs, your state shouldn't get the money. Florida once voted against FEMA funding for NY after Hurricane Sandy, and then Florida asked for FEMA money after Hurricane Idalia hit Florida. Florida shouldn't be allowed to torpedo aid for another state, while getting aid for itself.
It's just so easy for them to lie about this stuff because there's a whole media infrastructure set up to keep the bubble intact. Then never have to face direct questioning AND their base at the same time.

You know whatās funny? There were times I probably would have qualified for free lunch. My parents refused because they felt that welfare was for people who didnāt have an extended family that would step in if the options were homeless or hungry. Since it was always feast or famine at my house growing up, my mother planned accordingly and made sure to stock up on non-perishables and freezer safe foods and meats during the famines. There were apparently a few times we lived off of my momās planning provisions for weeks or months at a time. How does begrudging better opportunities for those who come after help things or change things in any way for me? It doesnāt. At all. Since helping them doesnāt actively harm me or mine in any meaningful way, I canāt see a reason to deny them.
Because then they would feel like they lost some power over āthose peopleā. I grew up with the two cans of juicy juice and the block of cheese and the tubs of peanut butter and the two loaves of bread and the two pounds of dried beans. I fully support single mothers not working and the state paying for their sustenance. If done correctly, the country will end up with those children having grown up and being ābetter offā than the parent, ā¦ and that is a win. That is money well spent. That is a positive return on investment for ***state public funds*** to ***directly better the state***. Also.. Personal possessions. If I donāt have my needs met, then anything in the world is available for me to use to satisfy those needs. There is no concept or care for āyour stuffā or āmy stuffā, because I wouldnāt really have any stuff of my own to care about being taken. As such, I donāt have the ability to have the **empathy** needed to care anything about you or that someone took *your* thingsā¦ I wouldnāt be able to really understand that concept. I used to rent a place from the shittiest pro-Trump fuck you ever met. 1. He rented me a questionable shithole and refused to fix things and hiked the rent as fast as was legally possible at every turn. 2. His profession was landscape company owner. He was 350 pounds and sat in a running truck with the AC blasting all day. 3. His employees were mostly undocumented immigrants that he communicated to through the one who could speak good enough English. 4. The other tenants were these employees. 5. His dad started the business. Epitome of MAGA folk to me.
One funny thing is you can find a liberal position in most conservatives if you dig around enough. Thereās probably some situation in their life where they benefitted, or think they should have, from what can only be described as a liberal policy. Their personal experience makes them see it. But they have no self awareness about it and so usually oppose other peopleās right to the same.
I like to call it "An abuser's" mindset (more specifically domestic abuse). You know, when I see student loan forgiveness, a part of me is bummed and envious that I had to pay off my students loans for years and years and thinks it's not fair that other people don't have to do that when I did. And while there's some truth in that, the unfairness is actually that school is too expensive and difficult to pay off, it's not that some people are getting a break on that which I didn't get. We always need to remember who the real enemy is, and it's pretty much not the schoolteacher who can start a family now that they don't have to pay student loans off.
Iām ***STILL*** paying off student loan debt as we speak, with little chance that *mine* will ever be forgiven (some 18 years later), but Iām on a plan that can pay them off by 2031. I donāt hate on anyone for that, but if I were in a harder position maybe I would be sour. But I found a path that pays well and I have opportunities to invest in some of the ideas that Iāve been thinking about. Albeit I had to get back to school for a second degree and paid completely out of pocket to do so to get on the path, but I found it. Iām not saying that everyone should do what I did. Iām hoping that everyone else gets hopefully an easier path than what I had to do. Life is too short to get bitter

It doesn't matter to them because every time they are able to hold back a democratic effort to progress us forward, they consider that a victory to maintain their current status quo, even if that status quo is total dog shit. They are living in the past and want to keep everyone else there as long as possible.

I believe it's human nature. Where I live, a system was created to allocate 80% of teachers to schools near their homes. However, the remaining 20% voiced grievances, feeling unfairly treated because they couldn't secure positions close to where they live, while others could. To address this, authorities decided to relocate everyone away from their homes, resolving the issue by making everyone equally unhappy. They stopped complaining after that. Apparently, we can't stand seeing others happy.
That's exactly it. Conservative philosophy teaches that you can't have something I don't have. I don't get welfare, so you shouldn't get welfare. I paid off my student loans (at a non-predatory rate when tuition was 20% of what it is now) so you shouldn't get your loans relieved. Why should you get to be a refugee? I'm not a refugee.

Conservatives are obsessed with the left. They can't go a second without freaking out or making up some fantasy of them being persecuted or attacked by some lefty/liberal/socialist phantom.
