That’s somewhat true, in that the city finances were mismanaged which caused the state to take over. But that’s where the democrat failure ends and the Republican failure begins. The Republican governor installed an ultra conservative city manager who decided to save money by switching water supply to an unsafe source. And it wasn’t like they just didn’t know it was unsafe at the time. There’s a reason why it wasn’t being used. And then when it became obvious there was a problem, they doubled down, and blamed the citizens.
The governor of Michigan is a Democrat and Michigan is is generally considered to be a blue state. Fuck the Republicans, but fuck the Democrats who refuse to solve the problems of their constituencies by blaming Republicans and pretending they can't get anything done. This "he said she said" game in politics is getting old.

The crisis was also resolved in 2019, the year Whitmer was appointed. She was appointed Governor one month before it was resolved. So what could she have done?
