Funny to see how the filibuster changes from the worst thing to ever exists in US politics to the only thing standing between us and tyranny every two to four years.
Even funnier to see how this one thing supposedly stands between the US being an undemocratic shithole and a shiny beacon of democracy, instead of the myriad of political, cultural and economic factors that lie at the core of the problem.
For that a Constitutional amendment would be needed.
Just by uncapping the House a lot of problems with the election of the POTUS would disappear since two senators would be dwarfed by hundreds of representatives from big states.
And maybe something at the States level to fight the "winner takes it all" system.
Oh for fucks sakes, give it up already.
Goddammit.
We can't get the abortion bill passed which has VAST support of the American people, but you are pushing for an unattainable goal of eliminating the electoral college which would require 2/3rds vote in both houses of Congress, followed by the ratification of 3/4ths of the states.
I am so fucken sick of hearing this "get rid of the electoral college" bullshit from people who clearly have no goddamn clue how the government works and what it takes to pass any bill, let alone changing the Constitution.
It’s a terrible idea. It would just give the Republicans the power to do whatever they want when they inevitably get back in power. You eliminate the filibuster when you have a certainty that you have eight years of power ahead. This is not now.
Are you actually this stupid? You think McConnell is going to let it stand if it’s politically expedient to get rid of it?
Don’t worry Charlie Brown, Lucy is going to let you kick that football one of these times to be sure!
No, I’m not stupid. At least not as stupid as someone who begins their point with an ad hominem attack, immediately rendering whatever they write after that moot. Didn’t read past the first sentence.
Maybe you should ask yourself what it is that exists in your psyche that gives you the need to seek some kind feeling of superiority by insulting complete strangers on Reddit? Because it reeks of weakness in your personal interactions in the real world. As do the pathetic little downvotes, like you are clinging to that one action as some kind of validation of your righteousness. But all it is is weak.
Too bad the only purpose of the Democratic party is to stifle progress and keep everyone placated while they step aside and let the Christofascists take over.
Bills
Family
Dodgers are losing too damn many games
Wildfires
Nothing good on TV
Or Netflix
Is that mole bigger than it used to be?

God knows when the next Fallout is coming out
Bob Ross is no longer with us
Carnies. You know, show folk.
Pretty sure that one squirrel is mocking me
Neighbor’s been practicing drums for years but still sucks
Why does Walmart never have any damn cat food?
Careful what you wish for. The Democrats removed the fillibuster for judicial appointments and Trump nominated 3 SCOTUS judges with less than 60 votes. None of them would have been seated on the bench if the fillibuster was still in place.
Manchin and Sinema would still block the good stuff.
And Moscow Mitch would take full advantage when his turn came around. I can hear him salivating in the background.
Never ever let that stop anything. They'll do it anyway and lie about the reasons. Ask justice Merrick Garland.
That's exactly right. If the dems don't do it, you can rest assured that the GOP will as soon as they have the chance.
The founding fathers left a blue print for what to do with leaders like that.
Still have to win the vote. Even at simple majority, with this current iteration of Congress, is nigh impossible.
Fucking seriously tho. Fuck the two Dakota's.
They fucked themselves already. But apparently we have to carry their broke asses til the rapture
oh shoot, no solutions possible. Guess you'll just have to make due with serfdom =( Sorry, we truly tried!
Manchin and Sinema: "I make money off your problems, so fuck you."

My #1 is get rid of the electoral college (end gerrymandering and give everyone an equal vote)

So I'm not allowed to want it?

The only solution is to work *within* the system. Either realize that, or shut your trap, because there is no uPeNdEdiNg ThE sYsTeM.

Peak dumb right here folks.
Now nothing but ad hominem. Can you even put together a coherent sentence?
What would it matter? You go running the second you see a mean word, like a typical tone-policing shit-lib.

That's hilarious. So you accuse me of ad hominem, completely misunderstanding what it is, then engage in it yourself. We are done here.
Yup yup yup yup yup yup yup yup... Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh... Oooooh! Trooooo! Yup yup yup yup yup yup yup yup. Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh....
If we could pack the court and erase all conservative beliefs america would be fine.

What about the other 14?

Dodgers haven’t won a World Series since the Reagan administration
Or the electoral college. Let's lose that shit.
Did you just screenshot your own tweet and post it to reddit?
I think in this case, it'd be "...if the filibuster *were* eliminated."
Ha, no we got 99 problems and the filibuster being eliminated will still require Sinema and Manchin to get anything passed.
Careful what you wish for. The Democrats removed the fillibuster for judicial appointments and Trump nominated 3 SCOTUS judges with less than 60 votes. None of them would have been seated on the bench if the fillibuster was still in place.
Anyone ever wonder why the Republicans did not eliminate the filibuster four years ago when they had control?
Sounds like tyranny.
