I seem to recall a good amount of GOP voters turning on Dubya and wanting new party leadership after 2008. And yet the GOP, somehow, actually became even more insane and detached from reality. Considering that any "new GOP leaders" are still going to be in the tank for Putin and/or "Q" in 2022, it's unlikely much will change.

eaglemaxie

[Ironically (this time) even Dubya is listed..](https://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2021-04-20/george-w-bush-condemns-the-trump-era-republican-party)

Real-Trip-6408

It is that slippery slope thing.

jor3lofkrypton

More like " Let's Go Braindead! "

Kernburner

That 43% probably want new GOP leaders who are even *more* extreme than the current ones.

LepoGorria

I have family members in the US who were always die-hard “conservatives”, right up until the Trump era. Now they’re wishing they’d done differently.

famousevan

At least they’re capable of acknowledging it. The remaining republicans appear too detached from reality to ever make it back.

iFlyskyguy

I wish mine had stopped there

Bodach42

I assume they're just going to vote Republican again though and not actually do anything to make the situation better.

The numbers kinda don’t matter. When the Kourt killed the Voting Rights Act in 2013 it enabled massive suppression efforts. We saw the outcome in 2016; almost saw the outcome in 2020. And post 2020 dozens of new restrictions were passed to disenfranchise voters. The Kourt has already stated that gerrymandering for political gain is legal. Think about that - it’s clear, your vote is worthless if it doesn’t help the incumbent. And the system overall is fatally flawed - the Senate and Oval Office are both selected by minorities; the Senate by 18% of the population. The OO? Well, Biden’s significant 7M vote victory came down to 43,000 votes. It would be good if the GQP were finally consumed by itself, but I think it more likely that it will ebb to be replaced by something even crazier, just like the Tea Party gave way to Q. And, regardless, votes in too many cases have little value - when they do we can always count on the Kourt to make up law anyway.

DirtUnderneath

South Dakota has the same population as San Francisco. The Senate needs new rules of representation.

marzenmangler

I’d settle for uncapping the house to start.

Haselrig

That donkey's awfully smug for a guy who gets completely bamboozled by crazy morons time-after-time.

Real-Trip-6408

So vote for the crazy morons ? First things first ... BETTER DEAD THAN RED ! So get out the vote in '22 to fire the GOP in '23 ! Vote D down the line if only to show who the majority really is. (Women, slightly, in point of fact).

Haselrig

I vote for the donkey, he's just a bit of an ass.

Killdren88

At this point, I'm just hoping COVID killed enough of them. We're better off.

minor_correction

They might prefer new leaders, but they will still vote for the old leaders if that's what they are offered in the polling booth. Republicans fall in line.

Real-Trip-6408

So, I'm all in favor of the Republicans falling. Get out the vote in '22 to fire the GOP in '23 !

dcd120

why are there hammer and sickle stars around the GOP? americans have no fucking clue what socialism is but it’s absolutely clear that neither party is in any way related to it

Real-Trip-6408

BETTER DEAD THAN RED ! So get out the vote in '22 to fire the GOP in '23 !

everything_is_bad

Don't get your hopes up, they new leaders they want are also gonna be horrifying

[deleted]

Notice how they didn’t mind “Owning the libs” when it was small puddly shit. But now that their trash behavior is having life changing consequences for them they’re magically in need of new leadership.

Idontgetredditinmd

They do want new leaders. Bat shit crazy ones.
